City nowadays is a bit of an umbrella theme. What would have been separate actions themes for space and adventurers now fall under its breadth. And I mean the current sci-fi space, the more modern day inspired stuff we got back in 2011 was more of actual city stuff compared to the subthemes we're getting now that would have been their own themes years ago. There is no Adventurers in the City theme really though. I mean, sure they used some elements like Johnny Thunder but not more like they use in other themes to resemble old themes. In the end it is just another Exploration wave like they have been doing for years. Quote

It makes sense to me that johnny Thunder is added to exploration / adventure subtheme. Johnny thunder set off exploring on his adventure. Quote

The only thing City has in common with Adventuers is a Minifig that they use to give a nod to the old Adventurers theme and a Location that could be used for a Adventurers theme. But aside of that there is like nothing both have in common. The main target are clearly to film, watch and rescue wild animals and not to hunt treasures. The vehicles in the sets are way to modern and while I won´t say that Lego couldn´t make an adventueres theme in the present time, I don´t think Lego would do that, nor that it would be what people would really want. At least for me the less modern look is one big part of what made the Adventueres theme what it was. Quote

Well, you have fair points but i think it’s nice to have Johnny Thunder narration about wild animals after his “retirement” as adventurer. But I do wish that City subtheme would set in the past just like City Space was set in distant future (desginers did intend to interpreter those sets rather than in present-day City scene). I still appreicate that there is crocodile temple and nice adventurers parts like map. Quote

Lego really needs to step up the 6 studs' wide passenger and cargo airplanes, by creating new mold pieces for functional doors, nose similar to ATR or A220, wings parts just like the new 8 studs one, tails which we lack on the last plane and rear pieces to get to that point of a medium range or executive aircraft like a Piaggio. really looking forward for a 6 studs' wide airplane like A220 or ATR-72, luckily only good airport will see this year it's the friends one which always goes above and beyond in architecture. I’m a huge fan of in-house themes like City, Monkie Kid, Ninjago, Dreamzzz. I also love Rock Raider, Mars Mission, Power Miners, Adventurers, Castle, Pirates, etc. I’m not too crazy about licensed themes, tho I collect dinosaur and fantasy creatures from Harry Potter, Jurassic World. I’m very much in the same boat as you. I love LEGO’s in-house IP and unique themes. I do think I would get into licensed themes more if they had the yellow skin toned minifigs, though I do appreciate and understand why they don’t. Quote

I can understand that fleshie tones represent kids of colors if it’s just licensed themes. But i often prefer yellow tone myself. Quote
brimbolet Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 New images of a few sets are up. The red farm tractor (4+) comes with two adult sheep, one lamb and shepherd puppy... it's 20$ though and it has no big elements to justify the price tag Quote

The Junkyard seems to be a mix between a demolition facility but also a repair shop. Featuring a broken down car and sports car. Like the real Junkyards this set features a crane and car compactor. Off roader-Olive Green Jeep like vehicle with winch in the front. The campervan is a 8 stud ultra modern Camper, Red Cab with a white back. The Beach rescue vehicle is a dark yellow pick up truck, features some sort of open-able roof. The new ambulance is mostly white uses the speed champions wheels, and includes a very small scenery, that being a skate ramp The sports car looks very similar to the orange car from 60408 but red and more compact. Lyichir Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 It looks like some of the new cars use a new 4x6 wedge with sunroof, sort of like the existing 4x6x2/3 wedge slope used for car and truck roofs sometimes. That'll be a cool part, since there hasn't been a part like that with a built-in sunroof since the old Town days. Quote
The Reader Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Set 60447 Off Road 4x4 Mountain Truck looks really cool (but unfortunately has no side doors - nned to fix it). Quote
The Island Chronicles Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I saw pics too! I'll admit that some of the sets like okay, but only okay. Some of the shapes on the the vehicles aren't really my cup of tea such as the Speed Champions inspired wheel arches (my preference goes towards the wheel arches that have been used on City vehicles since 2005), but its Lego so that can be changed. The only set that is currently on my list would be the junkyard. Some of the pieces in that set, like the compactor and the grabber look like they'd be perfect for a city dump/recycling center MOC. I'm planning to convert it into that. If Lego won't give us certain buildings, we'll just have to MOC them ourselves. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 (edited) Thanks for the news! 🙂 The Junkyard and the Offroad Car look amazing, are something completely new and are consequently definately on my buying list! If the Ambulance had a detailed interior and place for a second paramedic (but I feat that it won't), then it would be interesting, too. And the Red Sports Car looks solid, too. In the Modular Spaceship I'm not interested since it's imo neither Space Port (City) nor Space (non-City). The Camper and the Lifeguard Car are with their eight studs bright much too massive and their fronts lack details (such as numbers for the cars). So I'll pass them, too. But which I really like in these two sets ist the comeback of the car roof windows - I hope that we'll see them in more sets in the near future. Edited November 13, 2024 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Roebuck Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Do one of the cars come with a new part of the Jungle map? If so to bad the set did not include any animals Quote
