Legomental Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 8 hours ago, Powered by Bricks said: This summer list is utterly disappointing :( 20 years of LEGO City and all we get is a weird assortment of sets. Very few but expensive explorer sets, a weird police line up and nothing worthy to replace the Downtown. Why end the life of many building sets if all we're getting is Vehicles? Airport? No Hotel? No Car Workshop? No Hospital? No City Plan? NO! Not even a new police station good enough to replace the current one to match the new looks. We so need a hospital I'm very disappointed with a lot of the new release sets Quote
karrit Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) The only ones on this list currently peaking my interest are the two Arctic sets, possibly the Train Station & maybe the Advent Calendar. So basically all the really expensive ones. Edited December 30, 2024 by karrit Quote
Roebuck Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Sounds like a bad City year for animals I must say Quote
Izzynufc-2 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Anyone else thinking that there wont be a bus with the train station and an electricians truck as well as a level crossing and road plates. They come to a total piece count of 249 pieces. The last station had 907 pieces and it included the bus, electricians truck, level crossing and road plates. So I did 907-249=658 So the station itself had at least 658 pieces. The new station will have 752 pieces. So I reckon they’ll focus more on the station and not have any vehicles as a side build as well as a level crossing. Quote

lightningtiger Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Lego city designers have lost their way.....again. Only a handful of sets interest me. Where is the city in city is what I ask ? Quote

The Island Chronicles Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Sooooo! Remember the F1 set I told you guys was missing on the site? Welll...... it is rumored to not be released until March. So......for us AFOLs who had that set at top priority (myself included), we'll have to wait a bit. But its worth it. At least we know that the set HAS to come out as its already been confirmed by clear images and official box art. https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-city-formula-1-set-missing-from-2025/ Edited January 1 by The Island Chronicles Quote

So the only numbers missing are 60471 and 60473, which I doubt are anything special. I think this is the final list. Quote
Izzynufc-2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 It says on here 60466 Yellow Bulldozer with Front Loader is 5-12. Will that mean anything to the build? Quote
Lemerbrix Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Slightly off topic, but I’ve now got all of the no limits crew! also, noface is in the background Quote

Ever since summer 2023, the design team director is a former member of the design team for both ninjago and monkie kid, now accompanied by a former Speed Champions designer, they lead the City theme, but they now pushed too hard on vehicle sets. When the 2024 summer list got revealed I thought there were fewer buildings because 2025 might have another banger wave full of new buildings and 2024 would feature many great vehicles. Looks like I was mistaken. It doesn't make sense, never have I seen a wave that could easily be the January-March 2026 one instead. 20 years have passed but the evolution is quite low, many new and repetitive versions of vehicles, but not for buildings and structures. Yes we've got the harbor after 13 years! But where's the airport? 9 years and we haven't got a solid airport. 8 years without coast guard. 5 years without a Service station. The current police subtheme is now worse, no actual rotation, if you want a police vessel type boat you have to find a 3rd party vendor...) There hasn't been a single non 4+ fire truck as a standalone set since 2016. The great vehicles became worse(we didn't need another sports car after 2 years). Public transport and fire vehicles are locked inside either d2c's or Big sets. LEGO City needs to change. Edit: What would you guys wished to see if City had a 20 year anniversary wave? I'd be all for the lead designer of either Friends or Creator coming to help with City sets. They also need to bring back the person who designed the vehicles from 2005-2013 back. The vehicles were much better under him. City will be a much better theme now. Quote
karrit Posted January 5 Posted January 5 As one who doesn't collect police, fire, airport or vehicles this year's City selection is mostly a big miss for me. I guess I'm more into farm, nature & adventure type sets so am happier with City when there's lots of space, exploration & outdoors style sets. I know there are those who prefer more city type builds & vehicles but Creator & the Modulars do those so much better. I want homes & interesting buildings rather than more vehicles, airports, police & fire sets. There's definitely need for those types of sets but I prefer the adventurous subthemes while others don't think they belong under the City banner. And maybe they should separate the adventure style sets into a separate theme outside of City. Quote

For me, because I am a car/racing enthusiast, the only sets I plan to buy this year are the F1 sets - simply for the cars though. Unfortunately the space, exploration and outdoors style sets are the ones that cause the most controversy as they feel as though the sets don't belong in a town-related theme. However, reading in between the lines, City is more about exciting careers that are either hard to achieve in real life or that you don't get to see by simply walking outside your door and the explorers sets still hold to that. I think if anything, the explorers sets actually helped the City theme to evolve. Clearly, they sell way better than police sets, thus the lack of them recently. So much so that perhaps I think they may deserve their own theme......... Quote

R0Sch Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Cool Make & Take soapbox racer on the 15th & 16th January (at least in DACH region). The minifigure seems to be the same from 60460 though. Quote

karrit Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Looks like they are doing the build on January 12 in my store. Always the day after our monthly LUG meeting it seems. It's cute but not likely I'll do the 3 hour round trip again just for this. Quote
