LCP Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I searched for information on the 60446 modular galactic spaceship and found that it consists of 717 pieces. Quote

And it is $80, right? Based on it having a similar PPP to the command rover, I think we can assume it will have a Technic frame as the core, both for durability and to allow for of swapping modules, and that it will be around the same size. For the overall structure, I suspect that there will be a cockpit module, an engine module, and a central body (with interior) that makes up the bulk of the build. I am hoping that there will also be attachment points on the sides of the body section, to allow pods to connect. Two cockpits and engines would be really nice, but I doubt that will happen at 717 pieces - Maybe two of the set can be combined into a large ship with dual cockpits and engines, as well as an expanded interior and more side pod attachments (if those are included)? This would only work, however, if the ship has a delta shape with large enough 'wings' to allow for more than just a central rear attachment point (I am thinking of a combination of the SP2 and SP3 command ships for the shaping). Klaus-Dieter Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 (edited) Thanks for the news! 🙂 The problem I have with this year's City "Space (Port)" sets and very supposably the upcoming Galactic Spaceship next year, too, is that they look too futuristic to fit in a City layout. Btw: It seems that the sets 60458 til 60460 will be soap box derby sets. In the one hand this sounds really promising since we haven't had any soap boxes yet. On the other hand there'll already be these Formula 1 sets - so the winter 2025 wave is going to be majorly racing based. What I don't like since this is very one-sided. Night City Dream Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 I don't like the space theme as it is elaborated WITHIN City series. It should be a separate theme off. Within CITY series space-theme sets should inlcude facilities and vehicles that might be located on earth, not space stations on other planet. Indeed, City series is anything but a city. Quote

If they're going to call it City, they need to make it city related and not all this out of the city/other planet exploration stuff. But most users here don't really see that. Therefore imo summer last year was a great wave since it included a lot of locations and buildings located inside a city. I hope that the same will happen in summer 2025 - since things like a public swimming pool, a gym, a skate shop, a sushi bar, a new toy shop and a decent school are overdue. Quote

What I said had been my point for the many years I've been on this forum. I came in during the late 2010s when the oversaturation of police and outdoorsy stuff for City was a thing. First post was an argument that I had with several users who think that City was fine the way it is. Imo. 2022 good full wave. For the past two summers, we had good waves too. What I'm preparing for are the vehicles for 2025 to look pretty odd as they gave power to the former designer of Speed Champions sets to design City. I use older vehicles for my town instead. Not a fan of the fenders and splashers on the newer vehicles. Maybe I'm just nitpicking. But that's the situation. Imo, the theme itself needs an overhaul. LOL! Police, Fire, Great Vehicles and Explorers is a thing for City that happens every year now. And that's how it's been since the late 2010s. I will admit that I miss the early HEY generation where City used to explore with different lines of work every year instead of just dropping the same thing. icm Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Subthemes have recurred since the very beginning of Town, then through World City and City proper. Coastguard has recurred periodically since at least 1989, and there were Coast Guard-like rescue helicopters before then. Space has recurred in Town/City since 1990, Airport since 1985, Construction since 1980, Racing since 1980, monster trucks since 1987, etc. There never have been any days when no subtheme was recurring. There never were any days when it was just police and great vehicles. That's absurd. Quote

Give people the best of both as stand alones that can also work seamlessly together for the people who want the full series. Quote

I said the same thing when City was the police set oversaturation theme. Given that police is easy to ignore now in the theme, Lego apparently thought the same. Lego is really trying too hard with the City theme. I think Lego promotes certain subjects in the City theme because kids want to see lines of work that they generally can't witness as soon as they walk out of their houses; thus the police, fire, space and exploration sets. The lines of work usually portrayed through town and great vehicles are lines of work they can see any time (i.e. tour bus, burger truck, garbage truck, etc) so City doesn't promote those as much as they do the emergency, space and explorers sets. Agent Kallus Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 (edited) I like the city space but it did show (alongside the explorers sub theme and even the farm stuff) how inaccurate the name has become. City nowadays is a bit of an umbrella theme. What would have been separate actions themes for space and adventurers now fall under its breadth. And I mean the current sci-fi space, the more modern day inspired stuff we got back in 2011 was more of actual city stuff compared to the subthemes we're getting now that would have been their own themes years ago. Designers intend to interrupt this City Space subtheme as set in distant future. However, its animation company’s decision to put Space sets base in present-day town. I read that article somehwere. City theme itself is well known for wackiness. Who have seen crooks stealing ice cream truck? anyways, I appreciate that they include space and adventurers sets in City. Quote

I also love Rock Raider, Mars Mission, Power Miners, Adventurers, Castle, Pirates, etc. I’m not too crazy about licensed themes, tho I collect dinosaur and fantasy creatures from Harry Potter, Jurassic World.
