Time to join in on the fun! When the competition was announced i was just about to take of on a 2 week holiday so i had more than enough time to think about what kind of vehicle i would go for. Funny enough i still went on with the first thing that came to my mind, well your first thought is usually the best one anyway right? So join me on my journey to make a telehandler for TC27!

I decided to go for functions with knobs, no puzzling to fit in motors. I started with the chassis which i gave 4 wheel steering to improve the turning radius:

However in this case the wheels would be quit far down in relation to the rest of bodywork, i wanted to increace the height of the wheels by one stud and came with an updated version:

In this case the wheelbase is connected with just a blue pin axle to the steering part, so in theory it is not 100% fixed, but luckily there's not much room for movement. Anybody maybe have a better idea how to connect the wheelbase without changing the heights?

The plan is to have HOG steering coming form the back and use the left and right knobs for rotating and outriggers. Next i am going to work on said outriggers and polishing up the bodywork of the undercarriage.

Good start; but as someone who has lots of headachse with boom on my telehandler project, it seems that axles are a bit to wide; perhaps 11 studs flip-flop beam could be very usefull for you

I would say, that axles are not too wide, maybe base is too short :) then it would be maybe easyer to fit something more, aesyer to build

Jurss had the right thought here, i wasn't at my final length yet  

 I wanted the bodywork to end and begin with the outriggers which is a common thing on these kind of vehicles, i had some versions before i came to this solution. Initially i tried to mount the linear actuators with an H-frame, but i that case i would limit the movement way too much (you learn on the way right). This setup is basically the same idea but better executed and i am more than happy with the result. Afterwards i snatched the wheels from my 42144 and complete the bodywork around and next up now is the upper carriage and ofcourse the boom.

I like this. Outriggers are nice, and everything looks nicely compact. There's not a huge gap between them and the wheels, I assume just enough to allow the steering. It makes the vehicle short but functional. I like that.

I like the symmetry it all has, and the coherence in color due to everything just being plain red. Easy on the eye :)

Thanks for the kind words! The gap between outriggers and wheels is indeed the bare minimum. I want to keep things as compact as possible so that the proportions are not too much out of balance, normally these vehicles have quite big wheels, but i need to keep in line with the rules 

Small update, i worked on a boom and figured out in what position to mount it. Next steps are the upper body work, cabin and as you can see ordering some parts in red!

Alright little bit of time pressure in the end but it's a wrap!

Found out that during during my enthusiasm i forgot that a telehandler should also be able to pick stuff of from the ground level, so i reworked the fork attachment and did some adjustments to the mounting of the boom. Quite happy with the end result but not 100% with the bodywork, but well time was running out. Some more pictures:

Awesome stuff, it's really nice looking!

I really like how this turned out. Uniform coloring, compact but with a good reach, and it has all the functions you expect. And the tilting cabin is a nice extra function, I like that!
