Is there a lore reason for why Zane’s now gone absolute?

That obscure buff zane manga.... maybe?

Honestly I think its gonna be another case of:

Zane in big battle with forbidden 5 -> dies -> ninja go on quest to find mysterious mechanic -> turns out to be Pixel -> Pixel upgrades Zane to BUFF.

God I hope not. Zane's been near death so many times already.
Maybe it's what happens if Riyu gives Zane a power boost like he did with Nya.

Overall a very refreshing wave with some new concepts and well-designed minifigures. I’ll probably wait and see the spring/summer sets before deciding on any of these, but here are my initial thoughts:

The only set I’m 100% sold on is the Forest Dragon. It’s a great follow-up to young Riyu and I love the baby yellow dragon.

I also still like the jet, and if it’s really only $50 then I could see myself getting it at a discount. That new Arin is nice!

The combo mech I’m less certain about. I have the previous one and this doesn’t look that much better. I also think the separated vehicles on this one are pretty weak (other than Buff Zane). Even Riyu is a lot worse than this years’ version.

The “village” has some great figures but is a little too small of a build to interest me. Same with Zane’s mech, though at $10 I’ll probably end up with it at some point.

It does feel like the designers made some bizarre choices with this wave. Why give Zane two new suits and Sora zero? Why include the weird S1/2 Lloyd mashup in the dragon? Why does the 4+ set not include each of the ninja’s hoods? Why does Kai once again get a gold mask in his spinner set? I’d much prefer that budget go to almost anything else.

The minifigs that are new are fun, but I’m really not a fan of the new masks. They look too much like super hero helmets, like Ant-Man or something. I think they’d work better with bulkier shoulder armor. I like the F5 figs fine, but the real stars of the show are the Dragonians. It’s nice to see so many of them throughout the wave. Here’s hoping they’re available on PaB.

Speaking of PaB, has anyone else  noticed how bad it’s been for Ninjago parts this year specifically? Has there been any official reason given for why?  I think only a handful of figures have been available in their entirety this year.

What's stranger is that New Elementary lists pretty much all ninjago minifig parts as being available. I remember looking at things like the purple wolf clan warrior parts since I was considering ordering more. Why are they all gone now?

Lego has issued a couple of compliance documents for something they are calling "Ninjago World Builder".  Only the US documents have been posted which don't include pictures.

Any ideas what this might be?

Lego world builder is a program sorta like ideas but for media in general, not physical products. The ninjago legacy shorts for the 10 year anniversary (golden hour, golden legend, gold rush ETC) where from the world builder program, although this looks like products passing safety tests. My best guess is maybe we are getting sets and a set of specials for 2026? Even then, thats a shaky guess. Honestly I doubt anything will come from this.

It's been revealed on mastersofbrickjitzu stories on instagram. It's a DK book with a 4-in-1 model inside. Mystery solved!

Some more info -

5 prismatic blades, the crystal katana moulds. Needed to release the thunderfang chaos dragon, which in my opinion is an oni equivalent for the dragons. A chaotic evil dragon that the F5 will try to find and control. The dragonions are first realm inhabitants. The dragons on its back may or may not be in the show, they cannot confirm.

The spinners lack customisability due to the speed they spin at, and restrictions are in place so they cant have sharp bits attached to them that would injure children.

The Ras dragon ontop of the Arin jet is robotic (possibly? Not really sure what duck bricks meant)

Zane's mech is not a mech, it's Zane's form in the show, however the set was designed as a Riyu mech. Concept by Toothdominoes, finalised by Lee Chi Wing (Insane duo!) It also has a battle truck mode not seen in instructions and box art

We have official UK prices too.

The comparison between the storm jet and the storm rider….. ouch. Never seen a more fitting £40 set at a £50 mark. I think 40 would be pushing it as well. Happy enough with the Zane combo mech, though it’s going to be a very expensive January 1st. My current wishlist is

Combo mech

Dragonian village

Zanes mech battle pack

City intergalactic spaceship

blacktron renegade remake

Totalled up, I think it’s about £310. Nearly my entire yearly budget… and we still have the dragon duo, crossroads set, not to mention I need to get Egalt and Rontu as well at least. Gonna need to wait for that city ship to go on sale and maybe I’ll wait on the combo mech too. Zane’s battle pack is a quick pickup, and the renegade and village are less likely to go on sale IMO.

Good news! Nokt and Arin are coming in activity books that I presume will be released next year. Aron’s not too big of a deal but it’s a nice figure so I wouldn’t mind getting multiple, and Nokt being available for about £15 I’m guessing is great for those who want to complete the F5 set quickly, although he will be in other sets.

Very interesting that the Dragonians come from the First Realm! I am disappointed that the back dragons are either absent or only feature briefly in the show, as the idea of a symbiotic/parasitic relationship between Dragonians and these dragons would be an interesting story. BTW, do we know if the Dragonians in the show will have wings and tails (that do not detach and become a separate dragon), or will they just have the base lava monster design?

I wonder how this ends up happening - Maybe Sora uses her powers to build Zane into a massive robot? 🤔

When I first saw them having little dragons on their back, my mind immediately went to the wingmaidens from HTTYD. If they're in the show, they might be looking after baby dragons like the wingmaidens.

The next magazine will include Tournament Ras, but not how anyone could have ever expected him to be.

He's got the head with pink stripes instead of red, and for some reason the large trans red claws on the back from the Wolf Mask Warriors. Before even with all these stuff it still would have been nice to get him for cheap, but now this just doesn't feel worth it, since you can get the full Tournament Ras in a $20 set. Also with this they could have included the Wolf Mask Warrior with the claws, and not the General who isn't even canon. But I don't find that to be that bad, since they gave us all of the climber suits, so I don't mind the magazines after that being quite weak.

Perhaps it's something of a ritual they go through that turns them from the more humanoid look to the more draconic look?

Though that might be a little repetitive as we have rituals in S2 P1 and P2 with the blood moon ritual and the arc dragon horn ritual.

We have an updated list of the summer sets -

30700 - Arin vs Dragonian

71838 - Kais motorcycle speed race 79 pcs £9/$10

71839 - Arins spinjitzu mech 213 pcs £17.99/$20

71840 - Rogue vs Drix race car battle 111 pcs £18.99/$20 (confirmed to be a 4+ set)

71842 - Rontu the master dragon 381 pcs £40/$45

71843 - Rogues mech dragon 584 £65/$70

71844 - ninja combat vehicle 561 pcs £75/$90

71845 - Lloyds transforming mech jet 1112 pcs £90/$100

71846 - Fire knight mech 996 pcs £105/$120

71847 - guardian dragon and temple diorama 1650 pcs £135/$150

71848 - Temple bounty 2387 pcs £180?/$200

Lots to talk about and speculate here. Arins mech could be an elemental power mech, or at least compatible with, obviously he doesnt have an element. Rontu only having 381 pieces is kind of disappointing, sets at that price point often feel overpriced. Ninja combat vehicle at $90 for less pieces than Rogues mech dragon is something. Likely massive tires on that vehicle I guess. Lloyds transforming mech jet is gonna be huge, but I think more like the Z blob knight mech and not Coles titan mech. Kais fire knight mech is obviously going to be like Coles mech from this year. 14+, 996 pieces. I think the exploration into more adult focused sets has been successful. The temple and guardian dragon having 1600 pieces for $150 isn't bad, sounds like a highly detailed build. Not a bad PTP count considering it's a diorama set and it includes a dragon, which usually eats up budget through joints, wings and moulded dragon head parts. And finally, a 2300 piece bounty, WOW I am hyped to see this! both the temple and bounty being 14+ as well is interesting. Wonder how long it will take for us to get an 18+ ninjago set.

Pretty much my thoughts as well, although I would say we probably need to wait and see on Rontu. 381 sounds small but if the build uses a lot of big parts (not to mention plastic wings) I think it might be worth the price. I think the diorama is the set I'm most excited for, but I'm interested in seeing the larger mechs and the bounty too. Somehow I've never had a bounty despite being into the theme since it started, but who knows maybe this will be the one.

With only the prices it wasn't too clear as what to expect from these sets, now the piece counts help a lot with how these sets can be like.

I feel like the amount of pieces for Rontu feel fine for the ninjago dragon standards, since only the source dragon had less then 10 cents per part. Egalt was 532 pieces with a small side build, and this is nearly 400 parts, so I think she would scale great with Egalt.

The ninja combat vehicle has even less parts then The Combo Vehicle, But in that one 64 parts were just treads, so with some large parts this might not look too bad.

Lloyd's mech jet has similar number of parts as Zane's Combiner Mech, so that makes me even more excited about this set. And also with that there could be a small build for the villains, as I would really want there to be a small mech for the Dragonians, because so far we had a small villain mech for all of the Dragon Rising waves.

The diorama set has a great Price per part, but it probably would have a lot of small parts, and it might feel a bit small for the price, just like the Dragon stone shrine. That shows how PPP isn't that important to decide if a set has great value.

Now the new Bounty sounds even more promising for me. this one has more parts then the movie Bounty, and that one was huge with so much details. But I'm not too sure on what details there could be inside, since this is said to be an Evil Destiny's Bounty with 2 dragon heads, which is most likely for the F5. If it was a regular bounty there could have been just some regular rooms for the ninja just like in the previous one, but with so much more included. I mean for the Forbidden Five there could still be some like beds or stuff like that, since them being evil doesn't mean that they can't still function like regular people. But I also see there being maybe a side build, which would either be a flying vehicle for the ninja just like in Misfortune's keep(but with that many parts it would be lot better that that Lloyd flyer thing). Or there might be a temple side build as the name might suggest.

Some of the piece counts are surprisingly bad, especially for Ninjago's standards.

The small sets are normal, and the big ones are quite great, but the middle ones? 381 pcs for 45€, 584 pcs for 70€, 561 pcs for 90€, 996 pcs for 120€? That's not good at all.

Also, the dissonance between the 100€+ mechs is weird—Lloyd's has over 200 pieces more, but somehow costs 20€ less than the Kai one?

TBF Lloyds one transforms which would require more engineering hence the higher piece count.
