SpacePolice89 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) I recently bough the Rudstra glass-door cabinet from Ikea to display my Eldorado Fortress. On the other shelves I will do similar backgrounds and display the Imperial Trading Post and the Enchanted Island. Each shelf will be a small diorama with a lot of action going on and I'll add smaller sets and other stuff later to make it look like scenes from the old catalogs. I also plan to do similar cabinets for Space, Castle and Town later. Has anyone else experience from using Ikea glass-door cabinets and can recommend suitable models? Not I! But I am curious to know how effectively such cabinets prevent dust from settling on the LEGO... Quote
Horation Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 @Mister Phes, from what I've seen, fully closed shelves work, anything else is basically useless. Quote
Mazin Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 i love the fact that those boats realy look like if they were on the body of water, because of the reflection :) i dont know if Youve done this effect for purpose and if it looks this way all the time, rather than only ot this particular photo, but its realy something :) Quote

Time will tell but I hope it'll keep most of the dust away. 27 minutes ago, Mazin said: i love the fact that those boats realy look like if they were on the body of water, because of the reflection :) i dont know if Youve done this effect for purpose and if it looks this way all the time, rather than only ot this particular photo, but its realy something :) I didn't plan it at all, I just chose a suitable background and suddenly that effect appeared. It is visible from most angles. Quote

Even those tree/bush works perfectly in that left corner, as if that boat was coming from there, investigating if it can serve as a cover for pirates, while ironically they approach from the open sea ;) Quote
SpacePolice89 Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 I made some changes and added another display Quote
DonQuixote Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Looks really good with that background Quote

When I planned this I knew what sort of background I wanted but I had to find it. In the end I found what I wanted on Ebay. It was larger but I have cut it down to fit the back wall of the cabinet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325939241735 Quote

That set allready is beautiful but with mountains and a waterfall in the background ... Wow. It makes it even more impressive. Quote
SBCMayor Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 I love the displays! I see you have a little Smuggler's Shanty worked into the large combined pirate's base! A couple others in there too. I love working these smaller sets into the larger ones, though as a kid I didn't have too many of the larger ones so the smaller ones sort of just sat there on make believe reefs! Quote

I really like the smaller sets and they fill an important role in the Pirates lineup. 6234 Renegade's Raft was my first Pirates set and got me interested in the theme. Quote

Like I said in my other post Burried Treasure was my first set in the series and I have always had a special place in my heart for it. Quote
