The Volvo L120 isn't actually that massive. The L350F is much larger, and that set contained 1636 parts.

So, the L120 having 973 parts sounds about right.

Probably with Audi tires it could be done in that scale; 8265 had 1061 parts in time with only 5 x 7 frames and 5 x 11 panels...

That scenario seems most likely.

I just wonder what will be in rear part which is huge...

(I would rather have JCB 435 actually..)

If not the dumb battery box, then probably panels with a power unit underneath like in the ZEUX.

And we're getting the Volvo L120, with which I do not have a problem.

Agree with all; IMHO we had lots of cars latelly and industrial machinery was neglected; not just no new tires (G-wagon have to low profile for front rnd loader, or telehandler...), bit also buckets etc...

At least Volvo is so far tbe only mid/big set that I'm  looking forward in 2025...

Pardon my hijacking, but curiously I stumbled upon 2025 technic sets list (in my czech language https://www.briky.cz/clanek/lego-2025-seznam-setu/230/zobrazit ) and there is 42215 scheduled for August with 2359 pieces. Any idea what that might be? Perhaps next big model? Or it might be mistake?

42215 has 2359pcs,Maybe it's next year's flagship

42212 and 42213 seem to be small sports cars

Their price is $59.99,All of them are small sports cars ,This is just my guess, I hope not

Most likely recolor of vet and another car transporter car.

42215 is 18+. This is probably the flagship.

If the flagship is another car, I would like to see Jeep Wrangler

Happy New Year Everyone! I've recently finished building the trailer of 42175's FMX truck, and what came to my mind is that maybe this summer's Volvo front loader will fit on the trailer just like the excavator. Its size might be just perfect for the piece count.

L120 needs to be build with a tire size of approx 74-75 mm to match the L350 in scale

Interestingly my local stores calls the new small bag sets R bags so maybe the new paper polybags official name is recycling bags because they don't use plastic anymore and polybag is for the plastic bag sets:)

That'd be cool.

a flagship with only 2300 parts , flipping heck...

Yes I know parts count isn't everything, the number of functions is the highest priority for me but...

We will see. I bet its just the basic car functions because, well, otherwise it would be too close to the 1;8 scale flagship super cars..

if its a jeep then why not just get 42110 or last  year's 42177...

Arocs had part count of a bit below 2800 parts, so at that scale it's entirely possible to make a large, very functional true Technic flagship set.

But I'm not holding my breath, if it really is another car it'll be just a huge disappointment as I can't see them making anything interesting or new with cars.

Yeah, it really depends.

1) They might be using a lot of bigger parts like the liebherr crane.

2) They might also be introducing the next electric system that feels somewhat like a spiritual control center 3 for all we know, the cost of which might make them super careful of the piece count (control center 2 only had just over 1000 pieces, converted to studless would probably be around the 2300 mark). The last time we had 2 non motorized flagships in a row was 2003 and 2004, so I think it will have some form of motorization.

3) Or it might be using a motor and a bunch of pneumatics. To add power to each additional function only requires 1 or 2 added cylinders and a valve. In this scenario the piece count might drop even lower if they supply the pneumatic hose in one long length which you cut yourself (which I would prefer TBH though it's unlikely, even if it is more cost effective).

4) It might be some combination of any/all of the above

5) Or perhaps the least exciting option, it's a fairly unambitious set that just plays it safe.

So what would make for a great flagship at only 2300 pieces? I'm not sure a 10 axle mobile crane or JCB backhoe would be on the cards here, I could be wrong though of course. For only 2300 pieces I'm thinking something a bit simpler, like perhaps an all terrain forklift on claas tires with 3 stage mast. Imagine the size of the twin cylinders to extend the 3 stage mast on that! Ideally for a flagship it would have at least one motor, ideally one that's new and more powerful. Would be fun to play with as an RC set also, just please keep it mechanically realistic as well, whatever it is.

I wonder if the B model will come back in ten years?

I like to buy two sets of some sets, one for building A and one for building B

like 42043,42106

I'm affraid not, because it would look like major toy brand has copied copy-cat
