Jade Dragon

My latest, inspired by Warhammer world build.

Wanted to create Asian dragon for a long time, my first approach last winter wasn't good enough so I had t ogo back to this topic. It wasn't enough for me to make this irregular shaped creature "flying" above baseplates, had also to build flowing mountains. :D

Decided to keep terrain in vibrant, bright colors that's why I used mix of lime, medium azure and lbg. Various shades of pink were introduced for contrast.

I love the dragon's head, the floating rocks, and the foam from the waterfalls.  Beautiful scene, thanks for sharing!

@eric_son_of_joseph Thanks a lot! Dragon head is based on my older design - I've made red and blue heads before. :D

It was a great decision to create the whole diorama to show off the Dragon. It adds a lot to the overall feel. I also like the ratio of tiles and studs visible. It adds a lovely texture to the build. 

Very well done though and through!

Beautiful work all around! The motion of the dragon is so cool to look at. Very organic shape. The color palette is outstanding as well.

Amazing work. The floating sections and use of trans-clear to make it all happen is perfect. The dragon shape fit the Asian style and the colors work harmoniously.

@-DoNe- Thank you! Wasn't sure about the studs on the water surface but already had a lot of wedge plates in medium azure and decided to use them anyway. Some may doesn't like it but considering budget available parts I think the result is good enough.

@Khorne Thank you very much! For me worlds of LEGO builds have this specific, cartoonish vibe and usage of colors is crucial to make it work. Mixing too many colors, too many shades of color breaks it. That's why for vegetation there are only three shades of green used (lime, bright green, green), adding fourth would be too much.
I apply this logic to all my builds.

@Feuer Zug Thanks! Wanted the colors to combine into this idyllic, magical, Oriental scene and I'm really happy with the results. :)

Beautiful build.  The flow of the dragon is fantastic and the floating rocks / islands are a particularly nice touch.

It's a great build, the rockwork is terrific and the floating islands look like they really are floating. One thing is, I feel a more organic base shape would look better but that makes it even harder to achieve the rounded edges that you have here.

Love the vibrant color scheme and the floating islands and waterfalls. I also think you’ve struck a great balance between tiles and exposed studs, especially on the surface of the water. The scene would have been great even without the dragon, but that’s of course a sizable icing on the cake :)

@YellowFrog Thank you! Glad that you like my build. Went for square base because these arch bricks were easy to get. Water surface may get tricky in freeform base, probably could make something with SNOT technique but in such case would need different curved slopes (used this kind of technique in my "Welcome to the jungle!" build), but this time wanted to try something else. ;)

@miken_mocs Thanks! Decided to go for bright colors because I find them fitting Far East theme. These are also cheaper and easier to get. Studs are present on water surface because it was easier to get parts with studs. Tiles tend to be expensive. :D
