snaillad Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Hi EB followers. I've finished my most recent build. Predictably its another Art-Deco/Streamlined hotel building but I figured its been a few years since the last so I've had time to refine my ideas! It's called the Deluxe hotel and it's taken a couple of months to finalise due the constant changing of ideas in my mind in how I wanted it to look. It's not directly based of any paricular hotel but incorporates elements of many ones found in South Florida. Only a couple of images to show, the interior is quite shallow so I didn't bother with an interior this time. Anyway, comments and questions as always welcomed! You can find the images on my flickr here if you prefer. Regards! Andrew Quote
NewTown Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 WOW! I LOVE THIS. Art Deco and your building style are a match made in heaven. This is art. Reminds me of my visits to Miami Beach. Thank you for sharing. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Another wonderful Art Déco gem! The windows 2 x 3 arranged horizontally add much to the architectural effect, as does the choice of pastel colors. Top notch work Quote
RichardGoring Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 This is fabulous! I love the shaping and textures you've achieved. Really terrific model. Quote
supertruper1988 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Looks awesome. Really reminds me of the Paradisa line from my childhood! Quote

ER0L Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I might have missed quite a few of your buildings over the last years but it's great to see you're still active and building your high quality stuff. Really love the whole thing, colour and shape wise. There just can't be enough art deco architecture built out of Lego. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 You should put this on Lego Ideas. It would be far better than the vast majority of submissions and a refreshing break from all the overhyped licensed rubbish. I could see this getting the required 10,000 votes and something people would actually buy. Quote

I agree, more Art-Deco needed, it'll not be my last moc in this style. 5 hours ago, lifeinplastic said: You should put this on Lego Ideas. I had contemplated putting a MOC on ideas but wasn't sure of whether my style would stand out from other town based MOC's. I had read somewhere you needed to provide instructions for your model which I can't do as everything is freebuilt. Be a bit of a dealbreaker if that was the case as reverse engineering sounds like a nightmare to me. I do wonder however whether this model in particular would be more successful as a lego ideas submission with minidolls rather than minifigures, probably suits the friends theme more! Cheers Quote

Cheers Is there a requirement to provide instructions for Ideas submissions - as in any case Lego will always make adjustments to the final product. I would disagree this set would be more popular if it included mini dolls. The Friends sets already have sufficient pastel-coloured, leisure-based sets for those that like them. Although becoming more popular it seems, mini dolls remain a fairly divisive subject among fans. I think the fact this includes regular mini figures is exactly why it would be more popular than just another Friends set. I guess the closest we currently have is the Boutique Hotel but this will be 4 Modular’s ‘old’ in January and presumably discontinued by the time an Ideas set came into fruition! Quote
LL1982 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 looks really nice. makes me think of maimi beach. the colour palette is really mellow, but it has a good impact and overall colour balance. Quote
