TommyProductionsInc Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 I'm currently building stuff I hope to sell instructions for on Rebrickable, and I already have a model that might work as a good starting point. Built from 957 parts and weighing a little over a kilo, this is Lil' Chonk. The idea behind this ship (besides being cheaper and tinier than the ships I usually build) was to make a ship as short and wide as possible for comedic effect, hence the silly name "Lil' Chonk". It also justifies the goofy color scheme, which was specifically picked based on which pieces were the cheapest. Sadly, many compromises were made and the collective value of these parts is $119.212 (108.29 Euro. I swear I tried making it cheap!) This ship has a detachable roof exposing the captain's quarters (featuring a chair and desk adorned with a map, a candle, and bottle of booze), a jail cell in the front that can fit a minifigure (featuring a bed), custom-build brick-based cannons inspired by other builders (since normal ones don't fit on this lil' guy) a bell crow's nest atop the main mast, and 2 barrels, boxes and crates filled with cannon ammunition. I'm curious how much I can sell instructions for this guy on Rebrickable. I'm hoping to finally make some income off this hobby of mine after doing everything for free for years. Any ideas what instructions for this lil' guy will sell for on the market? Quote
TommyProductionsInc Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 I'm a complete goof. I started this topic because I couldn't find my original thread on my Lego boats, only to bump into that post via Google Images. I seriously need to figure out how to use this forum, because I don't need this thread anymore but can't even delete it XD Quote
Elephant Knight Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Yes! I'm so happy! Someone used the coral hull piece! I've been thinking on ways to use it myself, maybe this will give me some inspiration. Overall it's a very cute boat, and a fitting name to be sure. Two thumbs up! EKnight Quote
YellowFrog Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Surely those rigging pieces would bump up the price significantly? Maybe consider using string or the rubber pieces like in the 3-in-1 pirate ship. Quote
TommyProductionsInc Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 Thanks for the input guys! I've also been wondering how to use the coral hull piece, since it's the cheapest colored version of that part. I'm not sure if I can get rubber string pieces to work on Stud.io, but it's worth a try! Quote
bingowaldorf Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I love the colors here, it kinda looks like Neapolitan ice cream sandwich! This ship is such a good size and I think if it were a set it is definitely something I would have loved to play with as a kid. I really really like the jail cell in the bow; it's a very clever use of space. Quote
