Steve had enough of evading Captain Redbeard and the rest of the Pirates while sailing his little sloop to and from the Imperial Trading Post. He wanted to make a profit off of those pesky Pirates instead of being plundered by them, so he sold his ship to the Bluecoats and built himself a little dockside tavern next to the Lagoon Lockup. While it may be easy selling sailors some rum, the Bluecoats turn a blind eye to law enforcement on this corner of the docks. Disputes easily turn into full on brawls so Steve must do his best to keep the peace. Clearly that is easier said than done with this crowd.:pir-huzzah2:

Steve is quite proud of his establishment.

Don't ever cross Captain Dark'n Stormy or you'll certainly regret it.

This build fits right in to Sleepless Night's Lagoon Lockup MOC.

A fine looking pirate pub ye have there. :pir-devil: Love the simple details and colour scheme. Good job! :pir-thumb:

Thank ye matey!

I love Sand Green and just built a large house with it so I had plenty of bricks in that color.

Wow, this looks like a pirates-style modular building!

I like the floor, and I appreciate the small details inside (like the blood next to the severed hand).  The exterior looks sufficiently textured with the help of masonry bricks, with neither too few nor too many used in the build. I have however got to make a critique or two : I don't really like the roof technique, as it looks a little too "empty", but I'll admit this is a matter of choice. Another thing I do think you could improve is the lack of stuff in front of the Pub, this is a harbour establishment, after all, so where are all the crates and barrels? And I'd like an overview shot of the whole back, so one can better see that lovely interior!

Great build, the sand green works well.

One critique would be that the tiling looks a little too fancy with the black triangles. Perhaps these black triangles could be relocated to the roof?

Thanks for the input. I can't say I'm in love with the roof either. I tried a few different things and liked the current version the best. Got any better ideas? I did add a barrel and a crate filled with liquor bottles to the front but they're behind the minifigs so they aren't very prominent in the photo. And I totally forgot to take a shot of the back.

Thanks for the input. That might be worth trying.

@CaptainDarkNStormy, I can give a few suggestions :

You could use the same technique you use for that yellow building at the other end of the street (with a different colour scheme, obviously).

You could use 1x1 round bricks to make a really clever roof like @A_Goodman did in his imperial trading outpost remake.

You can do something similar to the new medieval village and use a few pieces to make it seem like straw is covering the roof.

Or you can dazzle us with your own creative choice!

Oh @CaptainDarkNStormy, this is just a neat build and a lovely addition to the SleeplessNight modular lagoon. Great action scene, and trans-red tile (blood) was a nice touch. The Devil is in the detail.

Great to see you made it before deadline. :pir-huzzah2:

Thanks bro! Lil Stormy is upset that I didn't use enough "blood" there! :pir-huzzah1:

That's a great addition to your waterfront, I like the deep balcony and overhanging roof.

Thanks! I figure a dockside pub needed a proper balcony.

Ahoy Matey @CaptainDarkNStormy!

They call me Captain Crit in these parts and I heard that polly wants a sandwich (They’re fed up with crackers apparently) - a criticism sandwich that is! (For you landlubbers, that’s 3 seas [Cs]- Compliment, Constructive Criticism, and another Compliment) [I know the contest is officially over and voting has begun, but I’ve been busy of late and didn’t get to post crits of all the last builds so I’m just starting now]

Ye did a great job buildin’ this and writin’ a story to go along with it. This makes a great middle step for Steve as he transitions in life! I just hope he’s careful- it seems his customers can teleport! In the first photo thaey are outside, and mere seconds later they are all inside causing problems :P

This built is quite good indeed and it was real hard for me to come up with a critique. The only thing I can think of is the stone dock area. I like those black traingles as much as sI like Ol’ Redbeard, which is to say, not at all! I would either replace them with more gray ones. Light gray would look best, but perhaps dark gray or even olive green could work as well if you want variation of flagstones.

Me favorite part of this build is all the details. From the turtle hiding under the dock and seagulls perched on a pole, to the bloody fights and feasts inside, everything was well though out. Also I want to congratulate you on adding stairs. It’s crazier than me sailing a ship how many poeple forget to add ways for their minifigs to get to the second level and beyond!

Fair Winds Matey!

Thanks for the feedback. The stonework by the dock is definitely not popular lol. I'll change the pattern and make it more rustic looking to fit in with the building. I'm glad you noticed those little details though, and stairs are a must!!! I have a lot of the OG sets from my childhood and it always bothered me when there was no way for the minifigs to reach the upper levels, especially on bigger sets like Eldorado Fortress. Hell when I created my remake MOC of Sabre Island I added a ladder on the inside that's built into the wall.

Great build, and good attention to detail! I like that you went with a modular approach and that it fits nicely within Sleepless Night's Lagoon Lockup MOC. I've been looking at that and this might help motivate me to build that MOC as well.

It would have been nice to see a few more photos, and to include the upstairs as well. A closeup photo from the perspective of a minifigure would be great in a build like this.
