Posted August 24, 2024Aug 24 Currently in the process of designing a Legends of Chima MOC. The eagle-eyed among you should already recognize this location! This is a microscale mockup that I'm using for reference. The model is being designed in Bricklink Studio. Hope to get a lot more progress done on this as soon as possible! August 26, 2024Aug 26 Author Update 1 I've finished the eagle-headed peak of the spire, which might be some of the best LEGO sculpting I've ever made, digital or otherwise! Below it is a rotunda. I don't remember exactly what its purpose is in the show, but it does have interior space. You heard me right. This tower is gonna have an actual, honest-to-God interior. I'll keep you posted!
October 21, 2024Oct 21 Author Update 2 I know it's been a while since I updated this Topic, but in that time I began playing around with the fortress structure underneath the main spire. And... I wasn't satisfied. So I decided to scrap it completely and restart it. This time around, I started with the tower again. Looking at reference images, I noticed that I got the shape and colors of the window towers completely wrong, so I fixed that here. And because, in the Legends of Chima show, this section of Eagle Spire houses the library, I tried to replicate that here (it was originally going to be an office for Ewald). The size is also doubled: whereas the first draft of the tower was roughly 8 studs by 8 studs, this one is 16 studs by 16 studs.
October 24, 2024Oct 24 Author Update 3 Today, I got to work on the neck of the eagle. For the feathers, I originally played around with stacked bricks and SNOT curved slopes, but ultimately took inspiration from rockwork to do the job. I think it succeeds in giving off the impression of the peak being carved from stone! You can also see some SNOT bricks and brackets at the very top. This is how I plan to build the shape of the head. Stay tuned!
October 24, 2024Oct 24 @Wolfpack Bricks It looks cool, but you really need to upload photos somewhere else, as EB isn't meant to host them. I recommend Flickr or Bricksafe, but you can use any photo hosting site.
