Wurger49 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 The Alpha-3 Numbus-Class V-Wing Starfighter was a stubby, wedge-shaped starfighter. The wedge shaped fuselage is similar to the Delta-7 that was manufactured by the same company Kuat Systems Engineering. This design feature was later carried to the Rebel A-wing. The V-Wing featured radiator wings similar to those fitted on Eta-2 interceptors, when landing, the wings rotate downward to form as landing gear. The radiator wings are rotated vertically while flying, giving its distinguishing look like the future Tie-fighter. I had a dilemma on the use of the angled axle and pin connectors and white wedge plates. I originally used them to create the angled hull plates, but in the end changed the design completely to use them for these radiator wings. While it sacrificed the look of the hull, the rotatable radiator wings look great with a great play feature. The twin laser cannons are nestled between the wings and hull, due to the pieces I had, I made a pair of slow firing heavy laser cannons with a pair of rapid firing blaster cannons. The 3 x 3 round bricks again come in handy, making great wing mounts. A stand was made to display the V-Wing in flight mode. I made an astromech with 3 round pieces, sitting behind the cockpit. Flanking the astromech are two deflector shield heat sinks, they can open up from the 2 studded clip plate. At the tail of the fighter, there are two vertically stacked ion engines. There is a white central spine for the wedge-shaped hull, going up to red curved slopes before the cockpit, and red wedge plates create a diamond shaped pattern. The bubble canopy is placed on an angle, so it doesn't stick out too much from the fuselage. A pair of spring shooters are placed on the underside of the hull. This is my son’s favorite model at the moment, with different radiator wing positions while flying and landing, and deflector shield heat sinks that can open and close, and finally 2 spring shooters. The moving parts are well connected that they actually stay connected during play, making this V-Wing very swooshable.
