What is the hamster holding in his hand, a pea part/print?
Is the monster a reprint from Loonely tunes?

Compared to D&D it looks like it stole 20% of the budget here. Is this what kids want since it looks like a really boring series to me. The wolfpack is the stand out and the pirate looks OK (love the cockatoo) so probably only interested in those 2 and the the white cat (steampunk is a maybe)..

Looks like a pea or leaf printed on a small circular tile.

Monster is a new mould, though you could indeed keep him, and pet him, and call him George.

I think we have to assume that feedback and research has indeed shown that what kids want from these series is a bunch of ‘kids doing things’ figures, cute costumes, and colourful hair. That has been pretty consistent for a while now.

I do understand that wedon’t have h-res photos yet but don’t think all minifigures in Series 27 are disappointing to me. I feel awed by them becuase of new molds, new animals, highly detailed printing. I can’t wait to collect every and each minifigure in this series and use them for diorama in my modular city. Like - Cupid hoving above love birds at Parisian Restaurant or astronomer kid and pteranodon fan at Natural History Museum. Cat lover living in apartment. Wolfpack beast master commanding wolf to get donut from donut shop at Police Station Boogeyman showing u in apartment at nighttime and scaring a wimpy man.I love it!

I've just realized that the prosthetic hand is from the Friends sets with Autumn.

Which suggests a new mould for a partial minifig arm, rather than the prosthetic hand being part of it.

Assuming it’s not the same mold as the Friends one – there’s a decent amount of purposeful proportional match up between minidolls and minifigures (they can mostly share hair pieces and the hands are the same size), so it’s entirely possible they could share  a prosthetic arm as well.

So in that vein we already have many different birds so why should the Cockatoo count as a new animal since it's really just another bird?

Yeah I realized after saying that.  Every new species is great.  It's been a long week and I had a brain fart there.  Yeah that Cockatoo would fall under another species of bird which we already have birds.  So any new variation of species or sub-species would be welcome.

I think maybe we should all move on, rather than nit-picking already-explained comments, or trying to *gotcha* this … ;)

Yep this would have to mean a a new arm mould *and* prosthetic piece for the l’il astronomer figure. I love that Lego is including visible ability differences as a standard across themes, and it’s neat to have them in CMF too 👍🏼

I think its a waste of budget to introduce a new prosthetic hand mould in a CMF... such piece can be introduced in a regular City set and then be reused in a CMF

I prefer for CMF new pieces to be something you wouldnt find in a regular set like the steampunk top hat with goggles or the Bogeyman head

My issue with reusing the Friends prosthetic hand piece is that it is designed to attach to a bar, which means that in order to attach the piece to a Minifig’s arm, the arm would need a bar protruding out of it. I would prefer the hand to have a bar, while the arm just has a stump with a hole; this not only allows Minifigs with limb differences to not always need to wear prosthetics, but also enables us to make cool cyborg attachments for the new arm piece!

While I get what you mean, LEGO often puts new elements into CMFs that they want to include in regular sets, in order to absorb the cost of new moulds.

There have been many parts that you might think should appear in a regular set but have only ever appeared in a CMF, like the carpenter's saw, the serving tray for the waiter and waitress, the helmet of the two Roman soldiers, and so on. I guess it might be that those parts are still made in China and so only made for the CMF. So even if that arm part is new it might not appear in regular sets. It might also be a single molded arm and attachment rather than removable otherwise it might need two new parts. We'll have to wait and see.

Your preferences mean nothing though. Lego has been using the CMF mold budget to introduce new City compatible molds for basically since its inception. Just look a series 25 - the dog groomer introduced the cochlear implant with ponytail mold. It’s easy to point out that this could have been in a City set - there actually was a short haired version introduced in City at the same time! The thing is, now there’s two cochlear implant options, and City has a little more mold budget for another new part, like, say, the vested service dog that was introduced this year as well. Like it or not, the City inspired CMF characters clearly have a broad appeal and help sell the series, so they’re going to include new molds. And new ‘City molds’ like new hair or an arm stump mean that playset based themes (not just City) have more budget for things that couldn’t appear in a Minifigure series, like licensed parts or architectural bricks. Not to mention, saved budget on new molds could also go towards other things, like recolors or prints instead of stickers.

I think the green round tile the hamster is holding looks like a cucumber slice. And I think the round tile on the telescope will probably have some interesting print on it too I’m guessing probably either the moon or Saturn.

What round tile on the telescope? Looks to me like it’s a basic stack of various 1x1 pieces with the hollow antistud of a black round 1x1 being the front of the telescope. It looks like a reflection telescope, they don’t have a large lens at the front.

When is this series supposed to drop?

January 1st. CMFs have almost always dropped on the first of January, May, and September every year.

Oops I meant on the other side that we can’t see that’s facing the figure, we probably won’t know until someone gets one and posts a picture of it I just thought it would be cool if they put something on it because it looks like a flat round tile.

The names and descriptions look much more promising than that package group photo. :(

I'm loving those Hamster costume and Pterodactyl costume figs though. (I do wonder which animals and dinosaurs they will make next?)

CMFs (and other sets) still have components manufactured in China, but CMF production has been integrated with regular set production, so the prints and moulds are now available for use in normal sets; the pieces that you mention (saw, trays, Roman helmets) all came before the integration of CMF production.

Honestly, i would love to see Brachiosaurus or Stegosaaurus costumes someday. But I’m ready for Ice Age costumes like saber-toothed tiger or woolly mammoth.

Hmmm, nah, I stand with Accio Lego’s point. I really don’t think it’s wate at all.

Indeed, some people prefer the City type figures to the more out-there figures. It is still possible to have City type figures that might not necessarily fit into a regular City set but the CMF allows them to exist.

I'm mixed on preference for the CMF's.  Licensed series if it isn't something I'm into I won't buy them.  I think one of the first series I actually collected was TLM2.  I had picked up random ones previously but was put off by the whole blind bag thing. One of the the first ones I ever got I ended up with three of the same figure when I tried feeling bags in Toys R Us years ago and it wasn't even one I liked.  As for the older series before I started collecting I've picked up a few but no way I'm spending the prices they are asking for a lot of the ones I'd like to have.  As for specific types of figures in the unlicensed series I usually don't care for any of the sports related ones.  Costumed ones I'll usually get one of each for the novelty factor.  If they come with parts I find interesting I may get more than one.  I really liked the Holiday themed ones a few series back and picked up multiples of a lot of those.  If its a Knight, Pirate, Classic Space I'll grab a lot if I can find them for army building.  The Falconer was a bit specific but I figured I could swap out heads, hair & such for variety.  Same with the Pirate ones.  City type ones it depends on the figure & accessories if I'll try to get more than one.  If there are animals or other interesting new parts I'll get a few.  Like the ones with the Koala, Turtle & the Toucan I did get several of each.  The one with the Afghan I grabbed an extra just for the dog as the figure was just ok.  At the prices they charge for the molded animals & the space babies if they become available through PAB it's worth just getting more of the CMF's & mixing up the minifig parts to me.

When last time we saw fantasy creature (accessory) in non-licensed series? I know there are some creatures in licensed series like Fawkes and Nifflet in hare Potter and baby dragon in D&D series. I’m not counting creature minifigures like Harpy, Minotaur, Yeti, Boogeyman, etc.

I just looked through all the series and there isn't one accessory in the non-licensed ones that I would classify as a fantasy creature.  Toys maybe but not fantasy.

I would have also said the mushroom but that's a couple of parts rather than a specific piece.

Yeah i just realized there are no fantasy creatures as accessory for minifigures throughout non-licensed series. Series 27 doesn’t offer fantasy creatures other than Boogeyman minifigure itself. I get that normal animals are extremely popular but i don’t see any fantasy or prehistoric creatures as accessories. We have sci-fi creatures from Series 26 (robot dog and space penguin).

It would be interest to see a unicorn foal, baby troll, dark phoenix, baby dragon, daemon. As for prehistoric creature, it wou be neat to have saber-toothed tiger cub, baby mammoth, baby dinosaur.  This might be my unpopular opinion.

Hmm the tiny aliens in Series 26 do not count?

If not, then it would be the smiling mushroom in Series 22

Nope more like sci-fi.

Not sure about mushroom since it’s not entirely made of one-piece mold?

NOTE: I did mention a baby dinsoaur but i know there was a baby raptor in TLM2 Series. Technically TLM2 is a licensed series
