I agree with most of the previous writers.

Cut down to save space, but yeah I agree with everything you said here, particularly about the lack of guards and no way to get more. Getting more "Glup Shittos" was my number 2 wish with this set and the skiff (with number 1 being an RotJ-accurate Boba :hmpf_bad:)- this scene was my favourite as a kid and I always wanted to get as many of the named characters as possible (and made a lot of customs of ones that never got official figures).

Of the 4 guards we do get in the barge (Gamorrean, Vizam, Wooof, Kithaba) only the Gamorrean gets leg printing (but not dual moulding which would really improve him... guess they blew that budget on Leia) while the others don't. But, to me the worst part is that only 2 of them are actually new characters. Getting another Gamorrean is fine since there are a bunch of those guys, but Kithaba? Complete waste of a figure slot. The 2012 figure still holds up and is incredibly cheap even now. Of all the guards they could have chosen, why did they choose one of the few they'd already made?

Sure, maybe people collecting now don't have the 2012 one and for some reason aren't aware of Bricklink/eBay/etc., but you know who they also don't have? Barada, Pote Snitkin, Yotts Oren, Vedain, Taym Dren-Garen, and a couple dozen others. They get a guard either way, and the rest of us get something actually interesting (granted his new bandana is nice but that vs getting a different character is an easy choice for me).

Literally not exaggerating when I say that I want a dozen more minifigures between the barge and the skiff. Compared with other large sets out right now that is not an unreasonable request, especially with how many characters there are in the scene. And as I said over in the 2024 thread, they wouldn't need new moulds for most of them. Wooof's helmet could even be reused a few times.

We desperately need a "Jabba's thugs" battle pack, and even that would only give us 4 figures (and one would be a reused Gamorrean- which is fair enough as they're the most iconic but it's all the more reason that the skiff/barge should've had more; more than 0 in the case of the skiff). Maybe a couple of small palace sets in the style of the old "Jabba's Prize" and "Jabba's Message" sets (there are several possible scenes they could depict, and each could include a couple of extra guards).

I have, arguably, better versions of each of these figures now. So nothing about the figure selection has me buying.

the model is a reddish brown “thing”. There’s nothing really interesting to look at.

I would agree if the skiff set came with it my opinion would approve. As is, this set, and the overpriced skiff with the bad minifigures, I will be passing on.

what hits especially close to home is the release of the fantastic D&D CMF. Lego did such an outstanding job on these and Slave Leia gets shorts. It’s so disappointing. I know there’s some complete BS reason why Lego can’t do a SW CMF series, but how about giving us GREAT figures in your overpriced sets?

How much do we expect the mini figures to sell for from this set separately?  Trying to determine if it makes more sense to buy the set or just the mini figures.  Is the model worth $250 on its own?  Are we thinking $250 or more for the mini figures?  Or under $250 for mini figures?  I think this determination or a really good deal (2XVIP and a good GWP may 4th maybe?) will decide if I buy it or not.

Current Prices for old version of minifigures - estimate form bricklink.

Jabba - $45.  Leia - $85.  C-3PO - $2.  R2-D2 - $2.  Salacious - $40.  Max Rebo - $75.  Klatooinian - $3.  Gamorrean - $10.  Bib - $20.  Woof - N/A?   Vizam - N/A?

People need to check the latest rumor reports to see if this loophole will go away….

I have looked at sets for figures in the past. When you take the value of the figures out, and see just how many bricks and pieces you get in general, you are better off buying the set. If you just collect minifigures, hit ebay and you should be ok.

All the rumors are really superficial right now but out of contract reads to me out of contract…except no one else (well, a few companies can, just not Lego because their minifigures are WAY to close in style, articulation and detail to ours) make Star Wars figures.  The whole thing is a crock.

I agree Bricklink is probably the best way to purchase figures, but wherever you can pick one up cheapest is the best place.

The problem is that most of the characters from Jabba's barge have never been made. It doesn't matter if you go on Bricklink, eBay, or whatever. They simply don't exist.

This set was a chance to finally fill a lot of those gaps and in my opinion they completely squandered it.

Unfortunately the interior stuff just doesn't hold a lot of value for me, leaving the exterior quite small for the price-tag. Would have maybe liked to see them skip things like a pilot area and just focus on going bigger, on the exterior and Jabba's room, which, as-is, is so cramped poor max rebo has to play solo. Compared to other recent high-end efforts, the proliferation of studs, plate-wall construction and relatively low minifig count makes it look a bit low rent. There's quite a lot of characters you'd expect to be in a $500 jabba's barge that just ain't here. Like where's Luke? Who's Leia gonna triumphantly swing to safety with? Friggin Salacious Crumb?

As much as many have talked about wanting more Glup Shittos, I think this is the bigger miss for me. I can understand why, say, Han or Lando weren't included, as they were never actually on the barge, but I do think Luke at least should have been there. It's a bit hard to stage the big fight at the end with just Leia (badass though she is) and the two droids.

Luke is in the skiff set, so I think it is just reasonable and fair to not include him in the barge. Though, better him than nothing, but generally I think it serves well to make different sets complement each other. I mean that I much prefer design philosophy that buying all the sets of the same series you would get, say 20 unique figures, rather than 10 unique figures with multiples of some.

For playsets I agree - synergy is good! But I'm not sure I like that strategy with €500+ UCS sets, especially when the companion set seems egregiously overpriced.
