Guy Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Hello All ! I am reaching for help for the second time as I had such a wonderful previous experience. I am new at LEGO train and I watched how to create a nice ballast. When I go to the LEGO website to order plates, tiles etc I have a choice of two colors: - Medium Stone Grey - Dark Stone Grey When watching Youtube videos, many people refers to "Blue Grey" - however there isn't such a choice on the LEGO website. What color should I be choosing so that it matches the existing color of the LEGO tracks ? Many thanks ! Guy Quote
The_Cook Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 (edited) The AFOL community refers to Medium Stone Grey as Bluish Grey because compared to the grey from the 1980s it’s bluer. Bluish Grey often gets concatenated to Bley. Dark Bluish Grey is Dark Stone Grey, shortened to Dark Bley. Modern RC track is Dark Stone Grey. Edited September 21, 2024 by The_Cook Quote

Selander Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 (edited) Just to elaborate : Light bluish gray = Medium stone. Dark bluish gray = Dark stone. And as said, this is the Lego train track nuance. In addition, most aficionados put tiles 1*1 and 1*4 on top of dark bluish gray plates. I'd say reddish brown is most common tile colour, but some use black or light bluish gray. Depends on your taste / or what your fellow trainheads use, should you make a collaborate display.
