Hey all fabulous Guild-people! Its been far too long since I put something together for my Dandelume-storyline, so I built this small vignette with some landscaping-techniques I haven’t used in a while.

“In the western parts of Dandelume the people among the hillsides are specialised in breeding cattle. The different farmstead landlords have been given heritable sections of the area. However, due to the large amount of cattle  and often narrow undulating landscape, each landlord is forced to form systems of small pastures under their control. Each of these pastures have an appointed and responsible group of peasants/breeders living with their herds-large or small.

The peasants have build sheds, shacks and homes on the slopes in the rangelands and can therefore monitor the cattle at any given moment of the day.

From these insignificant hills the cattle will be brought to the farmstead-lords to be sold or used to breed. From there the meat or finest stock can be moved far away all over Historica.”

I like the color palette here, the dark brown and lime green look good together.  Is that a spring bubbling out where the trans-clear wedges come out at the top?  Nice design on the buildings too, the texturing looks nice.

Very nice moc! The green really pops on the dark brown ground and the colors work well together. Also great technique with the curved slops for the landscaping. I also like the buildings! For me they have these rough Scottish island look (maybe i am wrong haha).

Thanks @Yperio_Bricks I dont know about how scottish they might appear 😃, but a rough look is what I was aiming for so if that came through its well I guess 👍

Yeah, you nailed that rough look

This is what came to my mind (but maybe that's just my brain seeing connections when there are none :pir-laugh:). Even with a blue-ish roof:

Yeah I can definitely see where you were coming from! Happy coincidence for the build in this case though! 😃

This is a really interesting and might I say artistic build.  The interesting contrast of the muted sand blue and dark brown against the bright white and lime is very startling, and yet they work.  The combination of the two palettes is also somewhat contrasting, and yet it also works.  The elevation change is, in my opinion, the real standout of the build, even if it is somewhat subtle by comparison, since it makes the waterfall feasible and really brings the piece to life.  The buildings are very nice, and I particularly like the door, although I would be concerned that the house would flood with the spring rains!  I think it's just the angle of the picture, but the waterfall appears to go uphill just before cascading downward.  A plate offset to look like foam/mist or maybe dropping that area 1 plate might help (or another angle on the pic).  The butterfly is a great touch, and I appreciate your keeping to one color of flower.  Too often I see multicolor flowers everywhere, and the builds subconsciously seem unrealistic for it, but it looks good here.  Well done!

Many thanks @Grover! I must start with a great and sincere appreciation of your re-occurring feedback in this forum, not only for my builds but for everyone’s. In my opinion the elaborate feedbacks you (and others as well) give is for 1. what keeps this forum living and 2. makes it possible to grow as a builder.

I can agree on your suggestion regarding the waterfall, Caleb/Legohobbitfan commented on the angle on flickr as well. I’ll be forced to continue practicing photography, in all fairness, sometimes a good photo can upgrade a kind of mjae-build to appear miles better.

Take care Grover!

You're welcome!  I completely agree with such feedback.  I joined this forum to grow as a builder and learn, and I feel that I was able to do so through detailed feedback, so I try to return the favor.  Sadly, I have not had a lot of time lately to build, as I have been moving, dealing with a tremendous amount of non-Lego related life things, but I've recently had that slow down a bit and am now starting to unpack my Lego in their permanent home, so hopefully I will be able to contribute some builds to the forum as well and maybe we can get things moving some more!

Sounds great Grover! Glad to here that things have slowed done for you and that you might have time to whip some builds out again! Im considering building for brickscalibur again now that its on, but we’ll se about that 😂 personal/family-matters consume a lot of time but perhaps I will be able to participate in a category or two!
