Alternative Builds from 2x 40755 Imperial Dropship & Rebel Scout Speeder

Hello LEGO Star Wars fans!

Over the weekend, I picked up two sets of the 40755 Imperial Dropship & Rebel Scout Speeder. To be honest, my main reason for getting them was for the great selection of minifigures. The included models weren't my primary focus—although I have to admit the Rebel Scout Speeder looks pretty solid. The Imperial Dropship, however, didn’t really catch my eye at first.

As I started unpacking the sets, I realized that they actually contain some very versatile parts. This sparked an idea: I’d try my hand at building alternative models using just the pieces from the two sets.

Inspired by designers like aranobilis98 and Wurger Bricks, who both created an Imperial LAAT/le Patrol Gunship from a single set, I decided to take on a similar project but using the parts from two sets. My version is made up of a total of 408 pieces (including 6 spare parts from the sets).

Features of my build:

  • Opening cockpit for easy access
  • Side doors that open and close, adding to the model’s playability

I’ve uploaded more pictures and the building instructions to Rebrickable for anyone interested.

Here’s a sneak peek at some other alternative builds I’m hoping to tackle with parts from 40755 (we’ll see how many of these ideas I can actually bring to life!):

  1. AAC-1 Alliance Speeder Tank
  2. Imperial TX-130T Fighter Tank
  3. T2-B Repulsor Tank
  4. T1-B Light Hovertank
  5. V-4X-D Ski Skimmer
  6. TX-225 GAVw Occupier Assault Tank
  7. Imperial Dropship Transport
  8. Imperial V-Wing
  9. Rebel Combat Speeder
  10. Dropship (from canceled Star Wars First Assault Video Game)

I hope you like my Imperial Patrol Gunship! I’d love to hear your thoughts, and stay tuned for more alternative models to come.

Happy building!

Very nice handiwork. You really managed to nail the shape of the patrol gunship really well.

Just out of interest, what’s the full troop capacity of your model?

If you have some really tiny hands you might be able to tweak in 3 Minifigures. But 2 is the maximum I guess.
