NOD Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Very beautiful diorama! The ship is built in detail, the ropes around the mast are interesting. Where are they from? It is also noticeable that the foremast is so fat at the bottom, it looks a little strange. It would be good if the ship's carpenter stripped the mast until it looks like 3941 bricks. The water with the floating barrels looks great. I also like the crew. Quote
Khorne Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Beautiful MOC! The style is "simple" enough to feel Lego-y and fit in with official sets somewhat, but still intricate enough with plenty of cool details to look at. The way you did the ropes is a great example of nice piece usage. Minifigs are all top notch as well and make the whole stand out. Like NOD said, the barrels are a nice touch. Also, I have to commend the photography here. Really excellent! Everything is so crisp and perfectly lit - the bright orange and blue sea really pops. It's so clean, it almost looks like a render. Truly magnificent shot. Quote

The ropes are medium nougat "zipline" pieces that I ordered from LEGO.com. And yes the foremast is very thick at the bottom :D Seemed like a way to let me boost the height of the old style masts that terminate at the bottom with a 4x4 plate. 58 minutes ago, Khorne said: Beautiful MOC! I'm always very interested in this kind of stuff . I like a good presentation almost as much as a good MOC. Three point light setup? Quote

It's pretty basic 3-point light set up: 1x LED ceiling light and 2x cheap $7 desk lamps with $25 daylight LED spotlight bulbs in them from the sides pointed up through the diffusion cloth at the top of the tent Spoiler Ended up having to make the final shot diagonal from the back because the ship was too big for my tent! ILoveSeatron Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Great ship! You did a good job! I really like the sideways building techneak you used for the water. Quote
Kai NRG Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I love what you've done with those flexible stringy pieces, very cool bit of realistic detail. Lovely ship overall. Quote

I actually started by using rubberbands for that detail first but after this build sat unfinished for 9 months they all dried out and cracked - decided ziplines would be more robust if I planned to keep the build around 4 hours ago, Captain Braunsfeld said: Congratulations - and I'd like to see more pictures, please! Thanks! Yes, I have more pics but haven't edited them just yet. This ship will likely be included in a bigger pirate/colonial build in 2025 Quote

LM71Blackbird Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Nice ship and a great addition to the fleet! Liking the rigging and all the tied and rolled-up sails. Simple touch but adds a lot of detail. Quote
