what a disappointment this has become, it's just pointless having any resources designing such a lacking Technic set?

@msk6003 Why did you open a new thread and not add pics to existing one? Now admin has to merge them together.

Pepperidge farmer remembers. Set 8260 seems like a distant cousin...

And you cannot move the rear bucket because its fixed in place with that 90 degree axle connector to the beam so why they didn't make the bucket movable

Removed quoted image. Do not quote images from the same page.

Yes, this set looks like it could have been released 15 years ago. And in this regard it is ok for what it is. Some good old open frame Technic build.

Maybe some 10€ sets from recent years have raised expectations beyond what was possible to continue to advance.

I'm only missing 3 pcs. (probably some pins). 42197.io

Even though the outriggers are useless, I like the overall design. And it uses regular and knob gears which is not so common at this scale.

The "outriggers" are a shame. Children won't learn the purpose of outriggers by these useless 5 L beams.

TLG could have included at least a simple locking mechanism.

Two topics have been merged, corrected capitalization, punctuation, removed double images, and moved all the images from the posts to the first image.

@Milan should we continue kissin and tellin both the threads?

Solved.

@msk6003 I merged your topic with the one Auroralampinen made first. Thanks for your effort
@Auroralampinen We talked yesterday about this. If you are going to post new topics, you need to spend some time formatting them.
As agreed:
- Use proper capitalization and punctuation.
- Align your text and images (put the images at the top, text bellow it, or vice versa).
- Make sure the size of your images are not too big, follow the BE guidelines.
- Do not make new posts with a new image. Edit your first post, and add links to the new images. It is better to have all the images and info in the first post.
- If you need help with it next time, send me a PM, and I'll help you create new topic.

Judging by the part list this feels more like a transformer pr something :pir-triumph:

Never compare this set to 42116 https://rebrickable.com/sets/42116-1/skid-steer-loader 140 pieces and a seat for a Minifig (and of course no steering, fun fact rebrickable tagged it with "hog steering")

I was full of hope that we get a new little power horse after this year's half finished 42163-Bulldozer. Because I actually did a transformer for the 42147 Dumb Truck, a super versatile set!! Sry for the advertising. Link to Transformer >>>  https://youtu.be/TWNdHtbiqAU

@Auroralampinen Thanks! Based on the part list I was able to find the missing pieces and correct the wrongly assumed parts in my digital build.
You can use the same link from before for the new revision.

The ball joint on the backhoe is a pretty cool technique. Plus, this'll be the first Technic backhoe that can actually fold the backhoe against the back of the vehicle!

Great job, TLG! Only took you 36 years.

The theme of backhoe loader is obviously very playable, but LEGO has only released a few
such as 8455,8069,42004,42198
which looks like a regress
probably sells poorly

I'm a bit surprised to observe, that a few dosens parts macro-set collected 2 pages of posts on forum, to be honest

I'm surprised this set is not a polybag one to be honest...
Maybe the backhoe as a second feature tiers it up.
I mean compared to my first 42031 set this seems cheaper somehow IMHO.

Also - using the BRONCO tires or however the bigger than these rubbers are - it actually looks better too. The fenders have clearance.

I was literally about to post the same thing, this is polybag territory, I cannot imagine if this carries on any designers wanting to move to the Technic design team :-(
