How do you tell what lenggth of axle to use?

I am building Grohl's Trike alternate build of 8271 and have saved the file as a pdf.  I also have the lxf file open in Studio.io, but can't find out which length axle to use in any particular step.  Trial and error is too tedious.  There must be a way........

Thanks

Hi,

When doing the instructions, the author can add a 1:1 size guide on the pages the axles are used.  Colour coding (always use different colours for different sizes) is also a solution.  The author can also insert some text or image with the length.  There’s unfortunately no way to do that automatically in Studio.

But if the author didn’t do any of this, you’ll need to search the part in the model and look at its name in the Status Line (at the bottom of the screen) or the Step List (on the right).  if they didn’t change or add parts from the set, you can check its inventory (seems even lengths are Black and odd ones LBG).

There are some more common color schemes. For example, black axles tend to be even lengths and light bluish gray odd lengths. That might cut your number of trials in half. HTH
