My first thoughts are that the model looks like it will be much more reliant than the Ferrari on stickers to look good, given the yellow nose on a black panel and the red bulls on either side of the engine cover. (The Speed Champions version looks to have the advantage of these being printed.) The angle of the Halo also looks oddly flat, but I'm very pleased to see the differing side wall printing on the tires, offering an alternate tire compound. I expect the functionality (suspension, steering, and 2-speed gearbox) to be the same as the Ferrari, but if I'm choosing one over the other (which at this price I will be), I'm going with the Ferrari.

Although I think this set and the Ferrari look a whole lot better than the previous Mercedes and especially the McLaren, I don’t think I’ll be getting this or the Ferrari as I don’t support either team… But super happy to see all the new recolored parts in dark blue. I’ve especially been wanting #71708 for a current MOC in dark blue, so that’s cool to see. The #17 & #18 panels in yellow is well overdue and a nice surprise as well!

The nose on this looks a lot nicer. The air intake and engine cover look better on the Ferrari. Neither is a significantly different step up from the McLaren to make me think it's worth getting. But maybe, if they go on a crazy sale one day. And it would likely be the Ferrari, because as much as they are technically good, Red Bull's attitude is somewhat irritating.

For me, the Red Bull one is much more appealing. The navy blue color just looks beautiful in my eyes. And the printed tires are long overdue. I hope they can bring something else to the table to justify their increased price though.

Dark Blue is such a nice looking color for Technic vehicles. This F1 car is therefore much more appealing than the Ferrari, but now the excuses of not releasing a wider rear tire is becoming more ridiculous, if they release two F1 cars at the same time at this scale. And don't tell me it's technically impossible to include suspension with wider rims.

We're getting lots of dark blue panels with this one! (video link for reference)

Looks the best of the modern F1 cars by far, the colour looks great and the front/rear seem to have had extra attention compared to the Ferrari.

Does the Ferrari have the two-speed gearbox as well? Seems a strange choice for an F1 car.

Looks like the Pirelli tires are printed on both sides irl. And someone accidentally mounted the top wishbones upside down (see Ferrari for reference). Glad they got the suspension set-up right but the body shaping and elerons are not that accurate.

Yes, it does. Better than no gearbox at all.

A partial list of parts is available:

How long are these new wishbones ?

I keep thinking they might be 8 instead of the old 9 long ones.

I think they are 8 since the rear drive axles are also 8.

Looking at the rb détail I can see that the engine camshaft is in the same alignement than the différential's output.

This mean that there is no gearbox at all, only the possibility to connect or not the energy recovery system.

I have the zeros and the g500 and I can absolutely confirm that he is a great designer.

I think it's the other way around, the energy recovery system's always connected and the selector chooses the gear for just the engine.  20T gear at the differential to 12T under it, to 12 & 16 underneath the gearbox for 20 & 16 selectable on the engine, and then 12T above that for the ERS.

Good to have a better view of the new suspension parts! So it seems they are a single piece for the two sides.

To me they look only 7 long (plus two on the front for the new towball arm that extends them), seen on the top view above (rear). The rear ones seem to be mounted one stud further out than the front ones, and also I think they are 1 stud shorter overall because the front one has 1 extra stud for the steering. I wonder what rims they are using, it must be something deeper on the front, needs space for the steering / wheel hub.

On the other hand, I think the new steering links are 8 long, as they start one stud further out than the suspension arms.

Love the dark blue. Looking at the parts list it also looks to have the proper engine, not the cam style engine (which the 1:5 ducati has).
