It's an incredible movie—loved by fans, casual moviegoers, and critics alike. It’s an awful movie with terrible acting and borderline schizophrenic writing that can’t decide who the characters are or even what the plot is supposed to be. The last third of the runtime is spent hammering its convoluted message into the audience’s skulls with all the subtely of a jackhammer in what is essentially an entirely new (and just as awful) movie. And I could forgive most of that if it weren’t so damn boring. I can’t think of a single decision this film made that wasn’t just poorly copying some better film. I really look forward to the day when everyone takes off their “new thing” blinders and finally turns on this waste of three hours. Edited December 20, 2024 by psqidexslizer Quote
Darth_Bane13 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 As a side note, I found the penguin show to be a bit overrated. It's not bad but people comparing it to the sopranos is a bit silly. I didn't like how half of the episodes were just the penguin getting captured and then escaping due to his captors being completely incompetent. The end with him killing Victor felt forced for some shock value, what is the point of oz killing victor because he's too attached? He clearly doesn't actually care for Victor, his logic just doesn't make much sense. Quote

Yeah, people comparing the show to the Sopranos were insane. The Sopranos is one of the best shows ever made. Penguin is just a very good, maybe even a great show. But it is no Sopranos. And yeah, one of things holding it down was how incompetently his enemies were written at times. But the ending wasn’t shock value. It was the whole point of the show. Oz is a horrible, selfish, psychopath who uses everyone and feels no emotions for anyone. I’m not gonna spoil the show anymore than has already been done, but there’s plenty of examples of him using people to get what he wants, even his own mother in his own sick and twisted way. Quote

Nope - I remember the TLBM teaser from 2016, which didn't tell anything about the plot either. I was too excited for a Lego! Batman! Movie! back then to care about it. I know people are excited about a new Superman movie, and I wish I was too but no. 56 minutes ago, THELEGOBATMAN said: Where are you pulling your ridiculous assumptions out of? Atmosphere is one of the reasons, sure, but you have to have been living under a rock if you think that’s the only one. The only valid one, perhaps. I don't see what to praise in this movie sans the atmosphere. Colin Farrell's Penguin had a small role and couldn't save the movie. But his TV show turned out to be quite decent, as far as I've heard - because of the lack of Battinson among other reasons 10 minutes ago, psqidexslizer said: Penguin is just a very good, maybe even a great show. CloneCommando99 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 So let me get this straight. Superman can’t get a single set based off of his upcoming movie. But One-Piece of all things somehow is able to get 5 different sets. We live in the strangest timeline. Quote

I’m not saying it directly affects Superman getting sets. I’m just saying it’s strange that they’re taking the risk to make a brand new theme based off anime, albeit a very popular one at that, which currently is an untested department for Lego. But are not making Superman sets, even though the MoS sets must have sold well back in 2013 since we later got BvS and JL sets. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) So, uh... some news on the Batcave... The set has 909 pieces (with a 100€ price) and it's releasing on August 1st. The big thing though? Apparently it's based on Schumacher's Batman movies—one leaker has posted the above information with the Batman & Robin Batcave in the background, and another is saying that this image is very important to this particular set. Felkin Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Forgive me for clutching at straws here, but is there any chance that "No Superman set(s) in summer" only covers the June release window, and we might get something in August? If we're still getting info on the August Batcave, is it too much to hope that a Superman set might still be possible? Quote

RobbieHxC Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) I was really excited for the Superman trailer and I'ved loved Gunn's work on Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Creature Commandos. However, I'm sad to say I was underwhelmed with the trailer and I think this could be a rare mistep. The cinematography looks quite weird to me with low angles and and sort of fisheye lenses. I'm also a bit cautious about having Superman's first solo film in a "brand-new" cinematic universe feature so many characters not from the Superman mythos, etc Green Lantern, Metamorpho, Hawkgirl, Mr Terrific, and some random kaiju. I think the focus should have been on Superman only as a superhero and I think that Gunn is using a team dynamic as a crutch since he has a proven track record for team projects. Also, I would have preferred some B-list Superman rogues to be pit against for some action sequences, for example Livewire or Toyman, rather than some random kaiju or laser beam. Further, I'm still confused since although Gunn's comments say conflicted things, Creature Commandos firmly follows on from previous DECU canon with ARGUS, Waller, Flag, and Weasel so not quite sure where the DCU reboot really stands - which is making me trust the validity of his announcements less each time. To get back on subject with LEGO, I think it's a shame that sets are not being produced for this film because it needs WB's full confidence to reboot the DC cinematic universe. Also, I would have forgiven all the extra superheroes if they produced minifigures for them If the new Batcave is indeed based on Schumacher films I'll be disappointed. Why is LEGO DC targetting at 4-year olds and 40-year olds and no-one in-between? Edited December 20, 2024 by RobbieHxC Typo Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I am glad we're getting Schumacher-based sets instead of more Burton and Nolan ones, but... Nothing in between. How I miss the early days of the Super Heroes theme. Quote
G_Brickley Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Oh no… I just realised that Arkham is featured pretty prominently in both Schumacher films… No, nooooo this can’t be! (SPOILERS) Yes but what was the reason he killed victor? He clearly proved himself useful. They should've had a situation where victor got captured and oz decided to sacrifice him for his own personal gain, something along those lines, rather than just killing out of the blue. All that said it is still a pretty good show, especially compared to other shows based off comics. Quote

wesker Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Watching the Superman trailer makes it even more disappointing that there are no sets coming next year. I can only hope that both the film and the mech set are successful enough for Lego to give Superman another chance down the line. I'm probably one of the few that doesn't have a problem getting Schumacher sets either. They're the only Batman films that haven't been covered yet so I'm glad they're not being ignored even if they are the weakest part of the franchise. Hopefully they are able to cover most of the main characters from the two films. It will also be interesting to see if its only the Batcave that's Schumacher themed or if Arkham Asylum will be as well. 1 hour ago, Renny The Spaceman said: Jesus Christ, they can't be that stupid. The builds were forgettable and none of the minifigures were bringing anything new to the table. Branching out to other media with the 60s TV series, Burton films, Dark Knight Trilogy and Animated Series is really what's maintained my interest in the theme. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 You know what's funny? Schumacher's Batman movies, which are widely regarded as some of the worst DC movies ever, are apparently getting a set... ...but a brand-new Superman movie doesn't. Makes it even more ridiculous, because apparently LEGO believes that something like a Schumacher Batcave will seel well, while a Superman set won't. Quote

I recently watched Batman Forever for the first time and I honestly thought it was kinda peak, like a reimagined version of the 60's show. It does have a scene where the villains break into the Batcave, so it would make sense to base the set around that, although I have no idea how well it would sell. Whether the set is from the comics, B:TAS, or Schumacher, I think there's a good chance of getting a new Robin minifig, I just hope it isn't Damian again. 2 hours ago, RobbieHxC said: However, I'm sad to say I was underwhelmed with the trailer and I think this could be a rare mistep. Turns out it's the same cinematographer from The Flash, I found a lot of the angles in that to be super jarring as well, kinda reminds me of messing around in photo mode in a video game. Quote

That film deserves every bit of slander it can get.
