EDIT: Thought this was the other thread- let me add actual relevant disccusion: Who's buying the soup mech? I personally am not, at least not day 1, just because I don't really want anything in the set so as much as I'd like to see lego DC return I can't really justify spending money on something I don't want so that later on I MIGHT be able to spend money on something I do want. But I do hope it sells well overall. Edited January 1 by Mandalorianknight Quote
poisonbricks Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Built the Superman mech! It's... a mech. I like the figures, so it's whatever. Just hope that supporting this set actually leads to real DC sets Quote

Superman sells a set entirely on the hope it'll lead to better ones, a much lower key use of his talents there Quote
Agent Kallus Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) I also bought the soup mech. Haven't built it yet though cause I'm working (well I'm at work right now! But on my lunch break, but I got hungry and ate my lunch early and now I'm hungry again but with no lunch because I already ate it ). I'd walked into town to get new oven trays ( the scoville never stick ones are pretty good) and well I went past the Lego shop and like a black hole it sucked me in. A mech set where the experience/ make-up of the build has poor structure, completely ignores some of the key points of the characters and has un-needed Jesus imagery. Good one All that‘s missing is a jar of Granny‘s peach tea. Side note, the Soup teaser has broken quite a few records, I‘ve heard. Someone at TLG might start to think they bet on the be wrong horse by skipping the movie, unless they‘re really banking on the mech set becoming super popular Part of me is still hoping for sets at a later point (if the movie does well), but they‘ve never before outright skipped a movie only to release tie-in sets after the fact. Not impossible, but unprecedented. Even with No Way Home, they still at least had one set somewhat based on the movie on shelves when the movie got released, with proper sets being made later-on. I mean Jesus imagery with Superman is kind of just an obvious parallel to draw, if you have a character who always does what he thinks is right and gives everything for humanity despite being something more than human himself, the comparisons will be made. I maintain that while BvS is very choppy, the Snyder movies in general work very well if you view it as an elseworlds story with a fallen batman who is reinspired to be a hero by Superman's sacrifice. 36 minutes ago, Lego Nostalgia said: It's Earth, how else can Lex breathe Bald people don't actually need to breathe, without hair there's no need for all that oxygen. 2 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Side note, the Soup teaser has broken quite a few records, I‘ve heard. Someone at TLG might start to think they bet on the be wrong horse by skipping the movie, unless they‘re really banking on the mech set becoming super popular I mean ultimately kids won't care if Soup isn't directly based on the movie. People tend to for some reason take this as "kids are idiots and zero people under the age of 18 can tell that the minifigure is not an exact replica of the movie figure", but I'm just saying most kids who want a superman minifigure aren't going to turn away if it's not got the exact detailing of the movie version. It's cheap enough that the build doesn't quite matter, just like everyone's favorite yellow sports car in man of steel. Quote

Fair point. The more annoying issue is that WB/DC don‘t seem to care, as evidenced by that stupid press release tricking us into thinking we‘d get sets Quote

Man VS Super: Dawn Of Cancer ? Honestly I'm surprised Batman hasn't gotten ill with all the kryptonite he's interacted with, it's radioactive no ? Unless he has created a cure already, he's Batman after all, not even the CIA can stop him Reed Richards found the cure originally, FBI said he died from a 23 self inflicted shots to the back of his head, weird I'm honestly so lazy to go to the ASLUME forum so I'll just use this one, it's not like we'll get much DC sets anyway this year besides Arkham and Nippleman cave Quote
