Posted December 13, 2024Dec 13 This is a Viper Mk 1 from the classic 1978 version of Battlestar Galactica, built as if it was a retail set from 1987. I was inspired by Roestig's build on Brickshelf (https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=243747), but I improved the proportions and details. I hope to build this IRL sometime. More pictures on Flickr. Edit - added pictures of IRL build to first post. Still need to order a few parts in the right colors but they're very simple and common parts so it should be really cheap. December 13, 2024Dec 13 I didn't know the Rebellion had acquired BSG Vipers! But this does raise the following question: Are the Cylons helping to build the Death Star? Great work @icm!
December 13, 2024Dec 13 Author Thanks, @Murdoch17! About the pilot - a lot of people used to use classic Rebel pilots in their BSG Vipers and in their modern fighter jets back in the day on Brickshelf, and there aren't really a lot of good options for purist custom BSG Viper pilots using parts from the eighties. So this is sort of a shrug, place holder minifig. I was able to find most of the parts for this in my bins last night so I'm going to build it this morning, with a few color substitutions, and order the remaining parts later today or tomorrow.

Awesome to hear! And RE: the fig, i figured that was the case. (i was just making a joke.)

December 16, 2024Dec 16 Cool build. Iconic and instantly recognizable, but at the same time, it has that 80's LEGO vibe.
