Sentinel_Brix Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) Life Day Special – Surprise on Mon Gazza Mon Gazza: A violent, poverty-stricken world, second only to notorious Kessel in spice production. Here, in the spice mines, only the toughest survive. Outworld workers are lured to sign a contract for three years where they would make big money and then return home, but the reality is different. Some miners are stuck in servitude for their lifetime. Nonetheless, within all the misery and darkness, a little spark of compassion can light a cozy fire… » Dam-di-dam. Dam-di-da. Pom-po-pom.Pom-po-poo... « » Look! Crow and I found this decommissioned, bronzium drill. « » Yeah! What do you say, ol'Wensley? « » Ha, completely corroded! It looks almost like a tree. We have our Tree of Life! Good job! « » …and I got them Life Orbs! « » Splendid! « » Seems we have everything, but for... what was that white, crystallized water called again? « » Ha ha! Snow, my dear Clueless! « Snow... you think she be mad if we not gonna have it? « » Wait! Sucker got something. « » Wurrrrrpp! « » He says he has collected some white-ish minerals at the den and pulverized them. « » Wonderful. So everyone to his position. Here she comes! « » Merry Life Day, Screwie!!! « » Gwrrraaaahhh?! « » Of course, sweetie. We know how you miss home! Here, this is for you! « » Rooow? Rooof-Booof? « » Ol'Wensley told us all about it! There is no planet and no weird custom this ancient prospector wouldn't know. « » Ah Crow, almost every culture has a feast like Life Day, you know? « » Hm. when I was a child, we would gather around the Kalikori at Three Moons Eve and exchange little presents. Then we would drink hot chakka and tell stories... « » On Burnin' Bog Day, I’d go for a hunt with my siblings. After we return, we would set the bog on fire and the whole clan would dance around the flames. The gases would make us dizzy and then we would feast. And eventually my sister and I would start a brawl. Awsome! « » Oh! And before I was sent to the mines, I would also get to know similar customs at my masters' families! One would even set up a tree in the habitat to celebrate life with the family! And he wasn't even a Wookiee! « » Exactly! Since we are all stuck here in these spice mines, let ourselves have our own merry, little Life Day celebration, hm? « » Mhhrrr Chrrrhhstmmmhhrrrr! « ***************************** Hello and welcome to my contribution to the Life Day Contest 2024 I hope you enjoy this little story about friends making their comrade happy on Life Day. Max_Lego Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Looks great! The holiday atmosphere is well-depicted. I especially liked the large droid design Quote
Max_Lego Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Sorry for being late. I also would like to praise the story. I am pretty sure nothing can beat such a simple, yet touching story. It's like something from a good Christmas children's book, and I admire it. It makes me even more confident in the idea that good Star Wars stories can be told without any armed conflicts being mentioned. And that's great Quote
Sentinel_Brix Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 Thank you @Max_Lego I'm really happy that you you like the story and even more for the reasons why Here indeed the focus for me was the story and on how these characters would use some creativity to recreate Life Day in such a uncomfy and hostile environment. Yperio_Bricks Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I can only agree It's such a wholesome and touching story! You are a great storyteller @Sentinel_Brix And it's a nice little build too! How did you connect the door frame pieces? There's some grey pin or what is it? And you even have some sand red pieces! Also i must say on a general note, that sand red is the weakest of the sand colors and if Lego ever revives this color i hope they go for a better shade of the color. Or would they stick to it as is? You are a great storyteller Thank you very much . I love to be creative with characters and their stories. And here, it's part of my motivation, knowing that there are a few people reading and enjoying them. And Lego is a nice way to convey them On 12/15/2024 at 5:48 PM, Yperio_Bricks said: And it's a nice little build too! How did you connect the door frame pieces? There's some grey pin or what is it? Thanks. Yes, it's quite simple: a pin connector 4274 with the stud into the arc and the pin into a 1x1 brick. Not sure if this is a illegal technique, but it seems to click, so the pin might not be stressed. On 12/15/2024 at 5:48 PM, Yperio_Bricks said: And you even have some sand red pieces Just a few. They must be from the old 'Life on Mars' set with those vacuum pipes. For Mars surface it's the perfect color, actually. I like it. Maybe because I have not many they are precious to me Quote
