Posted August 2, 200816 yr Governor UPDATE!!! I have upgraded the eBay Advertisement code. This means if you previously disabled the eBay Advertisements then they may appear gain. Quite simply turn them off again and if there are any problems, report them here. Good news everybody! The eBay advertisements can be now be disabled or enabled at any time. You'll need Javascript and cookies enabled for this to work. By default they should enabled so it's just a matter of clicking the Turn Advertisements Off link, wait 10 seconds and then the page should refresh without the ads. It works fine on Internet Explorer 6 and FireFox 2.5 on my end. Everyone try this now and report the outcome
August 2, 200816 yr Works perfectly to me Mr Phessie! Still showing Beligum instead of Belgium though.
August 2, 200816 yr Author Governor Thank you Mr Tiber! Bout time I fixed that typographical error... Done! Now, it would be really helpful if the other 5-6 other people who've viewed this thread could test out Ad Disable feature and report whether its working for them.
August 2, 200816 yr All good here. I'm using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox in which your cookie has yet to expire even after several terminations of the program and system hibernations. Later I will see if the same applies after total system shutdown....
August 3, 200816 yr Author Governor I can even see the cookie in my Firefox. Not that it matters, just so long as it works... Simonwillems who has an older computer running Windows 98 reports this works for him so that's a promising sign.
August 3, 200816 yr Worked great for me thanks Phes for all the hard work that must have gone into this! the extra load time was getting a little annoying... Regards Cpt. PB
August 3, 200816 yr Mister Phes, this is simply wonderful. Finally, I can disable the eBay ads. It's causing slow download on my other connection, due to its images. I am glad that it can turn off. Thanks you so much! It certainly saved up lots of time on downloading!
August 3, 200816 yr It works! Both when I'm logged in and when I browse the board as a guest. Nice feature! Edited August 3, 200816 yr by Dreamweb
August 3, 200816 yr It worked for me (IE7 on Windows XP). It's good that they can be disabled, it was getting a little irritating loading things up. :skull:
August 3, 200816 yr sir, spaced_out reporting saying "the ad blocker works fine sir. this is run on firefox on a XP!" MATT
August 4, 200816 yr Works fine for me on Opera 9.51. I'll leave them off for a week and see if the setting holds, and then I'll try the reverse. Good job Lord Admiral. (Is this emoticon new? It's Bonaparte.
August 4, 200816 yr I never saw them in the first place...I use the Adblock Plus extension with my Firefox browser. >,>
August 5, 200816 yr Author Governor It seems so far we have a 100% success rate. Of course, if someone deletes all their cookies the ads will reappear again. (Is this emoticon new? It's Bonaparte. It doesn't quite adhere to the aesthetic of the other smileys...
August 5, 200816 yr Your English is broken, Bonaparte should take care of you :) :) clicking the Turn Advertisements Off link, wait 10 seconds and then the page should refresh without the ads. Where's that Link? help! I hate those ads, really hate them, why do we have them here??? edit: found it! August 5, 200816 yr Author Governor Your English is broken, Bonaparte should take care of you :) :) It's a hyperlink, not a sentence and it's grammatically correct under the instructional voice anyway. I hate those ads, really hate them, why do we have them here??? As soon as I receive permission it will become very clear what those advertisements are for.
