Felkin Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I'm hoping that Lego might borrow some ideas from their Captain's America's shield set, a three-dimensional dish shape you wouldn't think you could make from rectangular Lego bricks. No clue if they could make the oval shape of the Enterprise-D's saucer, but I think it would be a better approach than Blue Brixx's design using slopes & wedge bricks. Quote
DonQuixote Posted January 4 Posted January 4 As a kid from the eighties I grew up with Star Trek, the next generation. It was my favourite TV show and I always wanted to live in that kind of utopian, futuristic , anti- capitalist, science based society where greed and hunger did not exist anymore. As an adult I still want to live in that Star Trek, next generation society. Even if it means I have to give up on materialism and therefore giving up on collecting Lego. To quote captain Picard :'The accumulation of wealth is no longer the driving force of society' No surprise they went for this series because it became more mature. The original series is a bit goofy and cheap looking. Curious how it will compare with the Bluebrixx version. Didn't like that one. Too blocky and too small. Quote

Dunno though, we seem to have jumped onto the wrong timeline since Irish reunification didn’t happen in 2024 ;) Quote

RichardGoring Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Where are you all getting your history books? All of these things happened, and some of them are not laughing matters! Quote
ARC2149Nova Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I know it's a forgone conclusion, but do you all think we'll get the color-blocked uniforms of the early seasons, or the sweater-style/DS9/Voyager uniforms? And will Beverly have her lab coat? I'm also kinda hoping we get a more affordable "crewman" pack, as those torsos will be hell to get on the secondary market. For TOS, I'm content with using plain Red/Blue/Yellow torsos, but the TNG and later uniforms are much harder to replicate. It's probably the later ones - more recognizable, and they can be repurposed for Voyager/early DS9 uniforms. Plus, Guinan and Spot didn't show up until later in the show, so it would make more sense for later uniforms to match with them. In either case, a $40-60 shuttle with 3 or 4 minifigs would be a great help for massing uniforms and making customs. Knowing Lego, though, it will only be big sets... Quote

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see some regular sets, but the hayday of Star Trek toys passed thirty years ago so I'm just expecting big display pieces now. Maybe we'll get some art sets if Lego continue with the licence beyond a single set, and some mid-scale ships would be great, but I'm not holding out hope for Lego playsets (like the bridge, transporter room and shuttlecraft which I had for my TNG action figures back in the day). Also, the movies I might end up getting the Enterprise, though, 'cause getting all those minifigs on their own will be a hassle And hopefully it'll lead to TLG making the original Enterprise as well Regards, Mitch Completely agree with you. Yes, hoping great sales (or at least very good sales) of this TNG set will secure a classic Trek offering from LEGO. A nice figure-filled Trek GWP could help in generating a fair amount of early sales. Never thought I would see the day that I could buy an actual Star Trek set made by TLG. Very excited and cautiously optimistic about the set and minifigure designs. If done well, this will be an expensive year for my brick allowance. Might even have to break into my emergency piggy bank. 🐖 🏦 PLEASE Lego don’t stop with this set, I NEED Kirk, Spock and the rest of the original cast (and ANY variation of the original Enterprise) in my collection!!! RichardGoring Posted January 7 Posted January 7 49 minutes ago, Mandalorianknight said: Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm SHOCKED these weren't the first two figures for the theme. The original TOS is really old, so while it's known, it's not front of mind for many. The reboot movies dropped off in commercial performance, with the last one losing money and the next one being in development and cancelled a few times. All of which suggests Paramount (and therefore LEGO) aren't convinced of it's commercial success. Meanwhile, the various new series appear to have been doing very well, and Picard appears to have been very popular. Season 3 bringing back everyone has allowed it to feel really good for nostalgia purposes, but they also all know what they're doing, and they don't have to disrupt the main thread by inserting various back stories. All of which helps put TNG more prominent than TOS. At the moment. If they'd done this ten years ago, it easily would have been TOS. Either way, I hope we get both eventually. Voyager. DS9. Bird of Prey. Borg Cube. etc. etc. Quote
PlanetLEGO Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I'd love it if LEGO did a CMF. There's so many classic Star Trek characters that are hard to include in a single set. Quote

That would be a great way to get characters - but another part of a CMF is to get new molds and prints. Most Starfleet characters would be very similar in terns of uniforms, and outside of some head molds, phasers, and maybe some Borg arms, there's not a lot of characters that would deserve a 100% new mold. The main set is not minifig scale, while the accompanying GWP set is... And I'm sure it's no coincidence that LEGO chose one of the few types of shuttlecraft that Blue Brixx did NOT release. Quote
CF Mitch Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Ooh, excellent choice for a GWP! Minifigure wise as well Regards, Mitch Quote

Welp, that comment aged like a fine blood wine! Not that I doubted it, but I guess this confirms that the uniforms will be the season 3 & onward design, since Ensign Ro didn't join the cast until season 5. Quote

Legoman123 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I can’t wait for this set and based on the amount of minifigures I’d imagine we are going to get an interior but I really can’t see how that will work to be honest, especially with such a low piece count Quote
