What surprises me though, is that Amazon already has it, and Lego doesn´t sell them exclusive for 3 Months before an other retailer gets them, like they did in the past.

That’s normal for non-D2C sets that are retailer exclusives. It only tends to be D2C sets that are Lego exclusive before becoming a retailer exclusive. This is just a standard set.

We will see how big the discounts are. If they just go 20% off, Lego with GWP might still be an option, especially for Back to Hogwards if you don´t want to have the exclusive Set.

I'd consider a 20% discount for a part exclusive set with Amazon as the partner fairly unlikely. Unlike most chain stores, Amazon doesn't really do store discounts like the "20% off all toys" that you might get otherwise before a major holiday. Rivendell (also a part exclusive set) has occasionally been discounted to something like EUR 410 or EUR 420, but a) that's still less than 20% off the EUR 500 list price and b) those instances were few and far between and it always sold out quickly. And that's a massive, high-price set with a fairly limited target group (basically AFOLs who like LotR and have a lot of money and room to spare)! The Flying Lesson has a broader appeal (both kids and AFOLs), a lower spending treshold, and it's part of the new system so a lot of completionists are going to want to get it whether it's good or not. So those are all the more reason for Amazon not to discount it much in my opinion.

Those are exactly the reasons why I said that Lego might still be an option, if not the better one. And 20% is basically the mark where I would start considering buying it from somewhere else than Lego - below that, it just doesn´t make sense to me to buy it from Amazon. But yeah you are right that it will probably not even get discounted that much and the usual discount for exclusive Sets with 15% - well I would just wait for a nice GWP and take it from Lego instead.

I’d say it all just depends on how well it sells. If they can’t shift stock, it’ll go on discount. If it goes flying out the door, they’ll be few and far between.

I really enjoyed the Charms Class set, I found the build very satisfying. Building it made me realize what I don't like about the Flying Lesson set; the Transfiguration class and Quidditch storage builds suck in comparison to the charms Class.

They could have created modules with the same level of detail as the Charms Class, but instead cheaped out. They didn't even bother to include cat Mcgongall (which is funny that all these years later they still haven't done).

They could have made better modules and then charged $100 instead of $80. Some fans might not like it, but Lego made the right decision.

Now a kid can use their allowance money and get Charms on their own instead of it being paywalled behind a $100 set. And an adult can get both and use the bricks from the less detailed modules to MOC up the main set or display them separately.

I wasn't saying that the Charms classroom should have been in the set instead. I'm saying that the classroom they included in the $80 set is lackluster in comparison to the $20 classroom of the same size they put out at the same time.

This is a recurring issue with the new modular Hogwarts. They included a crappy portrait hallway in the Great Hall to fill space, and now they've created a crappy classroom for the Flying Lessons set. And then they're creating $20 sets to replace the crappy modules they make in the big sets. It's just kind of a waste to include crappy classrooms that they suggest you replace with better sets for additional money. I'd have rather they not include the transfiguration classroom in the first place if they weren't going to bother to make it any good.

So how does the ornery fit in the castle? The flying class had handles for connecting it to the great hall but will there be bigger sets for march, summer, fall?

One June wave, with two castle sets: Main Tower and Herbology.

The owlery won’t connect to the main castle since it doesn’t canonically connect.

If they would include Moduls like they sell seperately in the Castle Parts, that would increase the price by a lot though. So I think it is good like it is, though probably something else than the transfiguration would have been a better choice to include in such a small build.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant that I'd rather they just sell these classroom modules all as standalone sets rather than including half baked versions in bigger sets just to pad out space. I would have rather they left the two spots open and charged $50-$60 for the flying lesson instead.

The problem with that is that you’re basically asking Lego to sell an incomplete set that needs you to buy $40 of separate modules to be completed. Lego isn’t going to do that. There are exponentially more potential buyers who will be turned off by an incomplete set than who will be unwilling to pay $10-20 more for a castle section that has inserts they plan on scrapping.

I get that, but I don't think those two modules are worth more than $10 combined and probably around 100 pieces total, so Flying Lesson would have likely been $70 at the cheapest.

Flying lesson did feel incomplete, even more so than the previous iteration of it. I have bought every single hogwarts castle set since 2018 and the one I love the most was the first one from 2018, the other modular set had the right idea but the castle proportions were all over and felt like a playset, this new wave feels extremely detailed but I dislike how they “include” their displays rather than leaving them empty, meaning when I buy the potion classroom now I have to find place for the ravenclaw room and vice versa.

Since we won't get much more in terms of leaks for a while, I have been dreaming up the expected minifigure lineup for the Main Tower. Assuming its either COS or POA based and has 13 minifigures (25% more cost = 2 more minifigures):

COS: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Lockhart, Draco, Crabbe, Goyle, Random Hufflepuff, Random Ravenclaw, Bloody Barron, Moaning Myrtle, Big Fig Basilisk

POA: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Lupin, Sirius, Fred W, George W, Random Hufflepuff, Random Ravenclaw, Bloody Barron, Professor Binns, Hippogriff

Professor Binns

Was he in the movie?

Bloody Barron, Moaning Myrtle

I don't know why exactly, but I doubt 2 ghosts in one set. I'd love to get a Moaning Myrtle in Light grey/white instead of Blue but with printed legs... Bloody Baron would rock.

Lupin

I'd expect him in a defence against the dark arts classroom teaching the ridiculus spell, so probably like the potions classroom.

I'd say trelawney in a classroom is a save bet, too. I'd love to get the Student with the "like catching smoke" line.

Any thoughts about the likeliness of another choir ghost in the next yet to be Annoncen advent calendar?

They did have the Moaning Myrtle in the Dark Bluish Gray and White from the 2022 advent calendar. I think that one is perfect. Light grey might be a bit too light, I think.

Yes, but that one doesn't have printed legs like the blue version, which is what @Gorilla94 was referring to. (Saying light grey instead of dark grey was probably just a mistake)

I think the figures included really depend on what the interiors will be. The main tower could honestly be anything, the only thing I’d expect is the Griffindor common room (it’s located there in the movies isn’t it?), some staircases, and maybe Dumbledore’s office although that could be sold as its own thing.

I’m sure there will be a large potions sized sliding interior in the basement but will the rest of the tower be large or small sliding interiors? Or since this is a cylindrical tower will they be stuck in default rooms/positions?

Personally I don’t think this set needs to have a student from every house. The Great Hall did because it was the Great Hall and included one hufflepuff common room but I think they could get away with excluding Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin students only there for the sake of representing their houses.

I think it does, simply because it‘s the largest expansion yet and will surely include 10 or even more minifigs. What else are they gonna do, include 7 Gryffindor students? :laugh_hard: Sure, they could, it would even save them some money since they could repurpose a lot of pieces from existing Gryffindor students (Fred, George, Percy, Neville, Ginny, Seamus, Dean, Lee), but that‘d be pretty lame

It‘s definitely gonna be the flagship expansion with the least interesting minifig selection out of all of them. If they focus on PS/CoS again, the only new character I could see them include would be the Bloody Baron, and in terms of variants, maybe a new Lockhart costume. I have high hopes for the build, but I keep my expectations VERY low for the minifigs.

I would indeed be fine with this figure including leg printing, but I think light bluish gray would fit bethel next to the other ghosts. I also think the white face next to black hair and and dark grey robe looks a bit to strong in contras. white/light grey/dark grey works together better in my opinion.

If they include the Gryffindor Common Room, I would then say Nearly Headless Nick over the Bloody Baron. I just think Lego plans to include all house ghosts with their respective common rooms. That and all the first 5 DADA professors. I was speculating on them including the Slytherin Common Room instead.

As it stands, we only have 1 Hufflepuff student, 2 Ravenclaw students, and 3 Slytherin students so far in the 7 castle sets. I don't think the Greenhouse set will include any non-Gryffindor students, so if the Main Tower doesn't we would be 2/3 of the way through the castle with little besides Gryffindor. And Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students are cheap enough to produce since they don't need new molds or prints.

I would expect the dungeon module and module between Dumbledore's Office and the Grand Staircase are both removable. I expect there just to be a void behind a square module, similar to in the Great Hall there is space between the modules and the rock wall.

That... sounds too smart for Lego to be honest^^' Would that not mean we would get 4 large sets?

Maybe, but I feel like we might get 2 medium sets next year each with a Common Room. Like take the Malfoy Manor price point for a Castle Set and exchange it with the Flying Lesson set's price point.

I'm also trying to manifest they will do 4 years for this modular wave and then each year will need the flagship modular set.
