The thing I want most from the Great Tower is that it’s ROUND.

Well, having it at least half-circle tower it's the minimum to expect from the most detailed Hogwarts castle  a square tower would really not fit in it.

JBSpielwaren already have a video of the Knight Bus in their IG story! …what exactly was the point of delaying the set then? :laugh_hard: Whatever the issue was, can‘t have been that big if review copies are already around!

It was a month delayed then because of when they reviewed the rest of the Jan 1 wave. Maybe Lego just didn't want to release it in February.

If we do get an advent this year, then I'm thinking they might circle back around to the Yule Ball again as this would be something they could market as interchangeable with The Great Hall. Or if The Main Tower does have the Gryffindor Common Room in, then maybe they might do some figures relevant to a Christmas scene there.

I didn't pace myself well and all three new Castle sets were built in 3 days. But here are my short thoughts:

  • Dueling Club: Compact build and good minifigures. Looks very good in the Great Hall. But probably my least favorite of the 3
  • Charms Class: Comparing to Potions, feels less crowded and more refined. My favorite set of the wave and I really hope we get at least 2 more classrooms in that style.
  • Flying Lesson: Solid exterior build and I like the modules. Personally I don't think Transfiguration could be done much better (granted the same could be said for Charms) so I'm happy to see it included. Nice volume to the silhouette also.

I do think there’s a high chance of that. The first Harry Potter calendar was based off the first movie like the most recent one, while the one after was based on the Yule Ball. Plus, the Triwizard Arrival set will still be on shelves then. It’s also worth noting that we don’t know what year the Main Tower set will be based on, but with Dumbledore’s office a high probability to be included, GoF is a strong candidate. The first Dumbledore’s Office of the reboot came as part of the Yule Ball Clocktower set after all.

I'd much rather they focus on Christmas at the Burrow or Grimmauld Place.  The figures for a Yule Ball themed Advent Calendar would most likely be repeats of the ones we already got.  Any side builds would pale in comparison to what we got the first time around as they keep cutting back on piece counts.

Yes so would I to be honest, but I'm guessing they will go for something that expands, and therefore promotes, the new flagship castle line.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't expect an entire round tower. More something like the Owlery (two walls in a round-ish shape).

Maybe it was simply a production issue in terms of quantity, so Lego decided to delay release.

Annoying to see that Stan doesn't have his ticket machine printed on his torso so the minifigure seems like another downgrade from the previous version. I don't get why they'd do that when it would cost no more than accurately representing his torso.

I guess they want him to be desirable for minifigure collectors, who want "every variant eber released"... I prefer to have the best version of each character and am happy with it... only exception are Thorin with crown and Gandalf the white I own next to the classic outfit.

What do you think? Willnwe see the Pack with different wand moulds from the Olivanders store set again?

Do we know which mould belongs to which wizard? I guess the snake head is for Lucius Malfoy, just useless in that colour.

I would love this if nothing else for another iteration of much needed MG Dumbledore!

They missed a trick not having a black recolour of the wand pack with the Malfoy Manor set, it would have suited very well with almost half the wands being used for characters. That and also forgetting the important mirror shard Harry carries, otherwise a very well done location set.

Indeed. Gambledore appeared in 6/8 movies, yet has only had 2 minifigs in the reboot! Harris did a great job, but when I think Dumbledore, I think of Gambon‘s portrayal.

The tower being based on GoF or PoA would also be acceptable, if purely for that reason :snicker:

I can’t understand how the Duelling club is more expensive than the charms class, looking at them that makes no sense, there must be something disproportionate about the cost of the rubber cape and the printed tiles vs sticker sheet etc

4 vs 3 minifigures and especially 1 professor minifigure vs 2 professor minifgures. Common interpretation is a minifigure reflects $5 in value for Lego pricing
