Jarreth2 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 The Maleficent / Cruella dresses set is up on Insta too .. something different I suppose .. Minidolls though 🙄 Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Love the set! Interesting choice to use the dreamling piece for the doll If only it included Jumba and Pleakley, but at least they could still feature them in another set if this one does well! Quote
Aramar Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Wow, this is a surprise! I didn't expect to see it so soon. I really like it! Nani and David look great, and Bubbles looks as expected too. The spaceship is very small but looks great. Lilo is the only one which seems off to me. I think I prefer the Lilo from the Magic of Disney set. This set matches the UP house set very well. Quote
Aramar Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Sorry for double posting, but I also noticed the Cruella dress set comes with a new dalmatian puppy, although the one in the CMF looked better. Quote
BacktoBricks Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Just now, Aramar said: Sorry for double posting, but I also noticed the Cruella dress set comes with a new dalmatian puppy, although the one in the CMF looked better. It's the existing Friends dalmatian puppy piece. Quote
Lemerbrix Posted January 4 Posted January 4 The dresses aren't great, I was hoping for more buildable minidolls like the wicked and wendsday sets. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Honestly, I'm kind of underwhelmed. The house loses most of its charm when not built above the ground with the stairs—now it looks like a regular beach house. The build itself is nothing particularly special, but the interior is quite nice. Minifigures are particularly disappointing, and that's because of LEGO not being able to squeeze out any dual-moulding of a 90€ set. It's just ridiculous—David and Nani's legs look absolutely awful. Lilo also looks weird without the sleeves, and honestly I think they should've built her legs with the technique they used in the Harry Potter Yule Ball set. I will still buy it, since it's one of my favourite movies of all time, but I can't help being slightly disappointed that they couldn't do anything more with this set. Quote

Jarreth2 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Unibricks has also posted pics of the Cinderella dress on a stand .. although when I first saw it I got Alice in Wonderland vibes 😳 Quote
JeanGreyForever Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I really like that Nani got dual molded arms. I honestly didn't expect Lego would do that. I remember her top being more orange than pink though. I don't like how they repeated Pocahontas' hair for her. They have completely different hairstyles. I'm glad they gave Nani printing but I have no idea what's going on with her legs. I don't remember her wearing blue socks for example. It's interesting that Lilo is different from her previous minifig. She has legs with printed on shoes now instead of a skirt piece and they gave her a new hairpiece. But I don't think this one suits her anymore than the old Pocahontas one did. Honestly, she doesn't really resemble Lilo to me. David looks nice although as I expected, he doesn't have dual molded legs. I like the inclusion of his fire sticks though. The house is okay looking. Better than I expected but still on the smaller side. I like the inclusion of the record player, the Ugly Duckling book, Lilo's picture of her parents (with the Stitch insert from the end), Stitch's shoebox bed, and also the Thanksgiving photo. I guess if we couldn't get Jumba and Pleakley, it's nice that the photo does feature them. I think I also see the picture Lilo draws for the social worker visit of her being left alone at home. 1 hour ago, THELEGOBATMAN said: Honestly, I'm kind of underwhelmed. I was expecting the bare minimum so in some ways, the set has exceeded my expectations but there are lots of things I wanted which didn't happen. I agree that the house not being built above ground makes it look more generic and not like the real house. That's such a defining characteristic of the house from the movie that its loss is really felt here. It reminds me of how Lego really eliminated most of the steps leading to Jack Skellington's house as well. Dual molded legs should have been a must for Nani and David. And especially for Lilo's arms. I think I'm the only one who's been complaining about how Lego isn't giving Lilo sleeves so I'm happy to see somebody else concur. 3 hours ago, roselemontea said: Did they use Pocahontas' hair piece for Nani? When I think of Harry, I never imagine him in shorts. However, when thinking about Hawaiian characters like Nani and David, I think shorts are more important. Maybe we are lucky and get very accurate minifigures including David's arm tattoo. If they end up being simplified minifigures, I will buy them anyway and I'll be happy. After years of having only Stitch is nice to have more characters from the movie. They didn't include the tattoo for David right? That's a pity. They gave Pocahontas one in the CMF so they could have given David one too. Quote

Because no dual-moulding or dress piece are one thing, but my biggest complain for those minifigures is that they just don't look like their movie versions, at all. Lilo's hairpiece looks nothing like in the movie, and her faceprint doesn't capture her animated face at all. Looks like a generic LEGO child. (The legs also look awful in my opinion.) Nani is somehow even worse—her hair is awful, and her faceprint is just as bad; doesn't even barely resemble her animated counterpart! The torso should be orange, and it looks like she's wearing regular jeans with some weird rectangular holes for her knees. David looks better than both of them, with a good hairpiece and an acceptable faceprint (thanks to the goofy expression), but again, the legs ruin it all—they look like some punk-mechanic pants, and the feet printing is genuinely hideous. Stitch and Cobra are good, but not particularly exciting since they don't require any specialised parts, dual-mouldings, or anything. Quote

karrit Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I know the aqua colored house with observatory is the iconic one people remember but I'm a little disappointed they didn't go with the original yellow house we see for most of the movie. I guess I'll need to moc the original house. I really like how they recreated Scrump with the dreamling body. Quote

Stitch and Cobra are good, but not particularly exciting since they don't require any specialised parts, dual-mouldings, or anything. Twice now they've been unable to come up with a good Lilo hairstyle. If I'm correct, this is the Mulan hairpiece. Lego seems to not want to invest in a proper Lilo hairmold as they keep giving Lilo someone else's sloppy seconds and now Nani is getting the same treatment. I don't know what the live-action Lilo looks like but I'm almost wondering if this Lego minifig is more supposed to resemble her. Lilo's legs bother me a little less because at least her previous minifigure has the skirt piece. I still haven't bought that set yet but that can at least be switched out and fixed. Looking more closely at Nani, is that just Pocahontas' face reused? It's one thing to reuse the hair, but it seems like they took the head as well. If that's the case, then the Nani minifig is literally just the castoffs of the Pocahontas minifig. It's not a common enough skin tone in Lego to even find an alternative head that would match her skin. In the movie, Nani wears shoes that look like ugs but that's definitely not the case here. Agreed on everyone else. Stitch I think is actually a brighter blue than the more pale/powder blue of his original minifigure. He's actually a dark blue in the movie but this is a step in the right direction to make him slightly darker since I've said before that his minifig was not movie accurate to his fur color. And yeah, with Cobra Bubbles, I haven't much to say because there isn't much to him that could be messed up. 4 minutes ago, roselemontea said: It looks like the Lilo minifigure reuses Mulan minidoll's hair too! It's a shame they couldn't get more movie-accurate hair pieces! Yes, I just noticed that too. First Lilo had the Pocahontas hairpiece. Then they gave Nani that hair so they gave Lilo Mulan's hair instead. Which is rather ironic since Mulan's hair wasn't even accurate for her minifigure (she should have had a short shoulder-length hairpiece). And it seems Nani has the Pocahontas head along with the hair. 2 minutes ago, karrit said: I know the aqua colored house with observatory is the iconic one people remember but I'm a little disappointed they didn't go with the original yellow house we see for most of the movie. That's true, the original house is yellow before it's rebuilt with the tech modifications. Disney has even released a playset for the house that was based on the original yellow iteration. Stitch's spaceship being included (plus all the easter eggs from the final song of the film, Burning Love) are probably why they went with the redesigned house from the end of the movie, especially since that's how it looked in the sequels and show. It would have been nice to include yellow pieces that can essentially reskin the house along with removing the observatory. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Is anyone else disturbed by the dalmatian print on Cruella de Vil's dress? The whole point of 101 Dalmatians that she wants to make a dress out of puppies... so it looks like in some alternate timeline, she did just that! Quote

I mean, the puppy's fate is literally screaming out in black and white dots. I really hate how they butchered Nani as a minifigure. Quote
OttoRiver Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Think I'm going to get part 36994 for Lilo. Not perfect, but the bangs are more accurate than what we have here. For Nani, would pick up 85974 for better hair but no clue if there's an alternative. Not many short printing done in that skin tone yet. Quote

If it wasn't popular, LEGO wouldn't be making any money off Disney-related themes and would quietly drop them as a business partner. (which is not happening!) The only partner I could honestly see that happening to is DC Superheroes theme by Warner Brothers. (Now THERE is a theme that is on life support!) But Disney? It's Not happening... In fact, if I was a betting man, I'd put money on the Walt Disney Company / Mickey Mouse probably outliving us all. Edited January 6 by Murdoch17 Quote
hikouki Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Disney classics is popular amongst older demographics, as is LOTR (larger sets, in general) is more popular with the original fans who have now grown up. There is obviously a new generation of Disney releases aimed at younger generations. Whether these are popular or not depends on who you ask. Collectors like me are only after the classics. I do not want any reimagined character that I did not grow up with. Quote
