So I just finished installing a set of PU lights in my MOC when I saw that one LED wasn't working.

After closer inspection I noticed that there were bare cables right on the exit from the black box between the connector and the LEDs.

Than with help from a slim flat head screwdriver I managed to open the black box. There I saw the 2 bare wires crossing each other which I think shouldn't be happening.

After I untangled the wires everything worked again. (I'll protect them properly later)

It was interesting to finally see what was hiding in that black box as it was always in the way of something.

I thought you guys would like to see it too :)

It's very interesting to see that the PCB was designed by LEGO in 2015, while the PUP lights (88005) were introduced only in 2018.

Do you have a bigger picture of the board? Does the black 6-pin chip have any code on it ?

Its K1t, searching that online yields https://german.alibaba.com/product-detail/QXW-Original-IC-Chips-LMV821AICT-Operational-1601107496432.html, which says that the chip spec is LMV821AICT, whatever that is. Apparently its a general purpose amplifier.

Here you go. It seems to write K1t, KIt or Klt.

Thanks. K1t is a BAV99S switching diode (https://assets.nexperia.com/documents/data-sheet/BAV99S.pdf), which is used a rectifier, so both LED's get turned on when current comes from the hub in any direction.

PU LEDs have a pinhole in the splitter block? Somehow that slipped past me until now!

Yes it's used in the green and black Express Train set (possibly others) to hold the light cable in place. Very useful.
