OK, I won't bore you with pics of the contents or the box.....so here are pics of the build......

Here's the start......

The complete Tavern.....

For some reason, it looked way bigger on the box then it did here. I guess it's still pretty nice though.

Here's the final product.... well not the whole thing......

Here's the start of the ship.....

DSC04632.jpg

For a moment, I thought they forgot something..... I don't know, maybe something we call a back end. But as I got to building it, it started to dawn on me what was going on.

I thought the building progress for the ship was somewhat interesting. I actually liked building most of it. NOTE: Sorry, the next pic has like a thousand pieces scattered about, that's because I'm just really lazy and because I don't really know how to organize my pieces. Also note that not all of them are from the ship, so relax, it's not like if you get this that you'll get a thousand more extra pieces.....oh wait, never mind that's a bad thing, we should get like a lot of pieces.

Here's the ship in its beauty......

Here's the minifigs.....

The knights looked awesome although I kinda hoped that there was a double-sided one though, but sadly that's not the case....

Here's the sweet skeleton crew.....

My opinion on the subject, it was an interesting building experience and loving the minifigs included in this set. I bought it on sale, so I'm glad I waited before I bought it. Anyway, I'm thinking of fusing this to my fortress later, but oh well...... OK, now let's see here are my ratings for this wonderful, wonderful set......

Dislikes:

I kinda didn't like the ship, but kinda did. I can't find any real problems or any real dislikes about this set. I mean it looks fantastic and plus I could fuse the gate house/pier into my fortress later. Yeah, there's no real reason to add this, although I have to admit some parts/steps were confusing. I spent most of my time scratching my head. I really didn't understand some steps, cause I'm really that stupid and yes, I'm slow at times. But anyway, most of the set was well, in the Doctor's words, fantastic! What was the most interesting part of this was the catapult thing, I actually liked that part most, cause I sometimes fired it when my mother was walking by and once I managed to hit her foot ( :cry_happy: )

Playablity: 9/10, awesome set and I bet you could fuse it together with the Tower Raid and the Castle Siege to make the Ultimate castle.

Design: 8/10 for the castle part, for some reason, I expected a largerer set then this, but oh it came out great and wicked sweet.

Design: N/A for the ship, but soon

Build Time: Varies (I mean I took a few hours due to some misunderstanding of the instructions, so I bet someone else probably did it in less time or more time, either way, it depends on how well you read the instructions)

Build: 9/10, wicked awesome how interested I was in just building the castle, I can't wait to see how interesting the build for the ship will be.

Nice to see another fan of this set Jessica. This is one of my favorites of the new Castle line.

I shared an image review around the same time last year: Skeleton Ship Attack.

Make that 3!

I was skeptical at first about spending $70, but I'm so glad I did! :classic:

I was hoping on adding this dock to my Castle too, but I suppose I'm not adventurous to try it. Anyways, nice review! One piece of advice is that you could add in the main part's build. You know, the center part?

Great set, It's the only Castle set I don't have... :cry_sad:

I can never find it in TRU's, It's really annoying.

Great start to the review. Can't wait for the Ship.

Cool to see this around here again. It's also one of my favourite new sets, i really like the little guard house. Also it's got a great feature which would be that you can assemble the 3 main parts differently to make it look like a little castle. I had luck to get this on ebay earlier this year, it's not too common cause it was a limited edition. By the way, try to make the photos with different lighting and maybe hold the button of your camera a little longer so the focus is really right. I also experienced problems with that in the beginning, but finally i got it sometime. Looking forward to the review of the ship.

Great review, just need to sharpen the images. Building on carpet - risky!

I got this set last week and had a great time building the harbor/fort part, as well as the skeleton ship. I was a little disappointed in the firing mechanism on the ship -- it's not very strong & results in some pretty limp missiles flying through the air. The catapult on the fortress wall, however, can really launch the cannonball pieces or your castle knights. My 8-year old and I had a lot of fun sending knights soaring across the kitchen.

I will point out that this set is the only set that I have felt compelled to mod as soon as I finished it (I typically follow LEGO instructions, and am very pleased with the end result -- not the case this time, though). The storyline has the skeleton ship attacking to steal the chest of gold/jewels, unfortunately the instructions call for the chest to be 'hidden' outside the city walls in plain sight. That really bugged me. What idiot king would build a city wall, man it with his best knights/soldiers, and a big-honkin' catapult, all to protect the treasure, and then keep the treasure outside the walls. Anyway, so I switched a couple bricks around and -- Voilà!-- I had the chest on the inside of the city walls. Overall, though I am very pleased with this set. Someday, I'll bust out this set, the King's Castle, & the Tower Raid and see if I can't get all the Castle components to fit together.

Building on carpet - risky!

I built on Grass once... Carpet's nothing.

I must saythe set does have a good supply of figs, something I need. I love that captain.
