Hyun Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hello all, I'm Hyun, hailing from California. I'm in my late-30s, and am a newly minted AFOL. I didn't have ANY LEGO sets while growing up (would you believe how deprived I was!). I had a few Forestmen sets while back in college (way back when, when Bush I was the president), but I didn't start getting into LEGO sets in earnest up till about a couple of months ago. It started with the Star Wars sets, and while that's my main interest, now I'm into just about all themes, especially Castle. In real life I work at a university as a server manager. Have a little toddler that I hope will grow up loving LEGO sets as much as I do. My wife supports the hobby, although she's not a builder herself. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. This looks like a great web forum and I'm looking forward to learning and sharing. Thanks. Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Welcome Hyun! In Eurobricks, we do not measure members by the amount of LEGO sets you have or how long you loved LEGO. We welcome members like me and you whom have the passion of LEGO. You have found the right place. I love Forestmen as well, but I don't have any offical sets though. It was my dark age back then. See you around! Quote

I had to BL some forestmen for my collection. My toddler already likes building mine and his lego. My wife supports/tolerates the intrusion of Lego in our small house. Seeya round! Quote

Admiral Blockbeard Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 No Lego as a Kid, I feel for you. However it provides the perfect excuse to buy it all now! Good to hear that your wife supports the hobby. You'll be pleased to hear that quite a few members here share the AFOL and Father title! Look forward to seeing you around on the forums Regards Cpt. AFOL SF Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Welcome, Hyun... Just like you, I grew up with no Lego as it was expensive and my allowance went into buying books instead. You should check out SCLUG (Southern California Lego User Group) and SCLTC (Southern California Lego Train Club). One of the best (builders of MOCs) club I've seen. I do believe the club has a website so do visit and learn more about the club. Quote
