Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2008 Governor Posted August 10, 2008 Good news everybody! After successfully trailling the eBay Advertisements in the LEGO Pirate for 4 months we've decided to offer the LEGO Licensed forum the same convenience. This is a one month trial and the eBay advertisements can be disabled or enabled at any time but you'll need Javascript and cookies enabled for this to work. By default they advertisements should be enabled so it's just a matter of clicking the Turn Advertisements Off link, wait 10 seconds and then the page should refresh without the ads. Everyone try this now and report the outcome Report all feedback and technical problems in this thread. RSS Feeds For those of you who are RSS savvy there are two RSS feeds you can subscribe to. This means you can have the eBay auctions delivered straight to your Internet Browser or News Reader without visiting eBay or Eurobircks! If you're not sure how to do this we have complete instructions for using RSS. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 It works for me! And thanks for building in that ''turn off'' option! Quote
Shoc Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 An exciting new feature! Not really exciting, just annoying. At least it works for me turning them off... I mean, people can easily just go on eBay and search for stuff, why have things at the bottom or the pages? It's irritating... :skull: Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2008 Author Governor Posted August 10, 2008 With RSS Feeds they don't even need to go to eBay now! As for the advertisements, some people don't visit eBay every day or can't use it as effectively, so these ads are a real benefit to those people. Of course, even if you do visit eBay every day you might miss something but the ads are like a second reminder. Quote

Shoc Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Sure it's exciting; we can then offer bigger prizes when we run competitions. Are you excited now? So that means EB gets money from having those adverts... (how much?) I suppose they're ok, as long as you can turn them off. :skull: Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2008 Author Governor Posted August 10, 2008 If you can turn them off then they're not going to make any difference to you Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Tested and proven! My Internet Explorer is able to open or close the ads. Thanks! Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Sure it's exciting; we can then offer bigger prizes when we run competitions. Are you excited now? That's certainly very exciting! It works perfectly fine for me Mr Phes (who miraculously can post outside the pirate forum? ), thanks! Quote
Batbrick Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Well I love it! It means I can see cool Batman stuff for sale Batbrick Away! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 24, 2008 Author Governor Posted August 24, 2008 That's great BatBrick! As for everyone else - are the ads working properly? Are there any problems? Are they showing the sets you'd like to bid on? Quote
