Scouty Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 A couple of weeks ago, I went to the nearest LEGO store to me for the first time. I decided to get some pieces at their Pab wall. Oddly enough, I saw the piece below in one of their "buckets". I was confused why they would be there. They all looked brand new too. They were last released in 2003. Was there a surplus of them or am I missing something? (If this issue was already discussed or something, feel free to do whatever with this thread ) Quote
CP5670 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 There might be a surplus of them in the market for some reason. I remember during the Brickfest 2006 event, there was some promotion where they had large quantities of these parts available to attendees. I wouldn't mind having a few more though. This piece was originally created for the monorail system, but started to be used for several other things too. Quote
Siegfried Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Wow! I'd love some of these. Perhaps this is a sign that the mono-rails are coming back. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Hmm, I would think that a sudden reappearance of that piece might mean a reappearance of the line that last had it.... ...but, mind you, my Lego store was selling bags of parts from the 2003-2005 era (i.e. snowboards, JT torsos, basketball legs, etc.). So, I don't really think it's anything special. Quote
Freddie Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 You know, in May I actually found one of these, complete with large tires of that era, in a event-concluding Free-for-all PaB. I could hardly believe my own eyes when I found it, especially so because it was in pristine, as-new condition. It is literally one piece one does not expect to find (WoW-players, it equals to an item of legendary status), simply because it hasn't been around for close to 20 years. So yeah, old pieces that haven't been in production might appear in PaB. Quote
KimT Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 So yeah, old pieces that haven't been in production might appear in PaB. The PaBs are sometimes used to clear the storage of old obsolete bricks. If a piece isn't used anymore, they'll throw it into the PaBs. Easy money and it allows newer bricks in the storage. I once bought 30+ different cavalry torsos and 20+ octan torsos in the PaB in Billund. So just once in a while you might get lucky there. Quote

Norrington Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Wow. Now I have incentive to check out the LEGO store at the Mall of America. I'd love to get in on old parts like that. KimT: 30 cavalry torsoes? WOW! I envy you, good sir. Quote
