Ever since a kid i wanted to build a fully working steam engine, and now...i did!

It is based on a German Baureihe 22 locomotive, a few things have been made to my taste however.

A frontal shot:

One from the back:

And the interior of the cabin:

C&C are welcome!

More in the BS folder.

Enjoy!

Like that!

Now in Red!!(Hogwarts Express  )

Nice details!! :classic:

The folder is not yet public, but so far i really like it! I too always wanted to build a detailed locomotive, but i don't have the right parts for it still today. Hopefully i can do something like that someday.

Phenomenal work

Too bad my track was a piece of rusted, corroded %*@# broken when you stayed with us for a couple of days. :sceptic:

I especially like the center section with all its details such as the pipelines, valves and what not. Nice use of the podracer cables by the way. The driver's cabin has a nice curve to it as well which only adds to the final result.

The only minor nitpick you'll hear from me is the colour pattern. I like chcolate brown with a yellow stripe much more. But that's my personal opinion of course

Ruben,

Love it, love all the details, pipes, front, ladder, etc. In the end it turned out quite nice, especially the rod & piston!

Thanks, but no Hogwarts in my house please

Thanks, don't know how many pieces went in. I roughly estimate it at 1.000.

Very nice.

How long did it take to make?

I think i spend about 30 hours on it.

Ruben,

Stop picking on the old school German paintjob, the color works great on Hotrods too!

Just saw the other pictures now and i really love how you did the interior. I've seen many train mocs where there already was too much, but this is just right. What did you use exactly for the "fire"? And do you have a clearer picture or an explenation on how you made the ladder here http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RickB/Ge...ureihe-22/j.jpg ?

The fire are the trans orange flame parts, 3 horizontally placed in a triangular shape.

The ladder is made out of 2 pieces of rigid hose and black skellie arms.

Coming from a big tv star that means a lot, thanks!

That is one really nice MOC I love the excellent detail and I appreciate the time you spent, I really like the bumpers Very nice indeed.

Thanks for sharing.

Whoah! :oh: I wouldn't usually comment on train MOC's the same as I don't usually with ship MOC's - I like them but I'm not really sure what to say about them. But this, this is amazing! It looks just like an actual train, especially in the first picture! Great work! :sweet:

:skull:

Wow, amazing! I know how you feel, I wanted to make such an engine all my life too and I also succeeded recently...

Does it go around the curved tracks as well? It looks like it because the tender seems to be made with a swivel undercarriage. Nothing beats the old German colorscheme if you'd ask me!

Very inventive work on the large-antenna-with-red-minifigheads combination

That really looks very good  . Have you also pic's when it takes a corner?

Thanks, the minifig heads is an idea from monteur's BS gallery, the antenna i can claim to be mine

I've made a little video to show this, check the .avi file in the BS folder

Thx, it works in corners. Only the train moves too fast. I'm more interested how you made it realize to take the corners.

Man that's a masterpiece... good builds only come from good MOCer's... thank god this isn't a good build... but an AWESOME BUILD! Making you an AWESOME MOCER! Yeah, I got lost at "masterpiece".

Fantastic detailing throughout Captain.

Good job

Dear Captian green hair,

that is a very beautyful steam engine, with some nice detailing.

I realy enjoyed the video you made of the train riding the track. :classic:

I really like these 8 stud wide engine designs. Hopefully lego will go to 8 studs as well.

Kind regards,

Teddy

I was wondering about the Big Ben Bricks wheels you used, what size are the ones for the middle section. Are they medium sized or large?

It's also advisable to use the gears when you use BB wheels.

These are the large wheels btw.

Cheers!

Wow, looks like a real steam engine... though it has studs! Your creation is very detailed! I like it a lot! And I like the classic colour scheme, namely black and red.

It's an amazing first train MOC

I love all the details. I like to see black steam trains, and the red parts really gives this train a great look.

I really just love this design. You've finally done a good MOC Captain green hair!

No, no, you've done good MOCs before.
