Joey Lock Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Have you ever thought about the tension between the two? Do you ever think they have gang warfare? I might make a few MOCs about it But do you think they ever had problems with Fleshies taking over the Licences? Quote
SWMAN Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I don't really think so. I personally love the Fleshies. I don't have any strong attachment to the Yellows, and think that Flesh colored heads and hands make it much more realistic. I think that Lego has taken steps to make things more realistic in the past few years, such as the Fleshies and the new guns for Star Wars. Quote

Yes but the Fleshies are a bit too Fleshie, No racial offence but Caucasian colour is a bit lighter. They look a bit tanned Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Yes. In a matter of fact, my yellows have a fleshie hunt every now and then.... they've skewered every Indy character. Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 (edited) Yes. In a matter of fact, my yellows have a fleshie hunt every now and then.... they've skewered every Indy character. tin7_creations Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 i really like this gang war idea, but instead of yellows killing fleshies, perhaps the other way around. i don't have any love for the yellow heads, i use fleshies for everything now, and i think lego doesn't make enough of them. dont u think discriminating the fleshies are a little racist to the lego figs? Quote
AFOL SF Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I didn't gave it a thought... and it was of little concern to me. The bottom line for me is that it's still Lego. That's what matters. Quote
Faramir Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 (edited) The fleshies are like the unwanted invaders on the peaceful yellow society. We must tolerate the fleshies during their occupation, but make funny faces at them when they turn their backs. Edited August 16, 2008 by Faramir Quote

filefolders Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I like them both and use them together. There are many different looking humans on Earth, why should it be different in the LEGO version? Quote

Don't you think discriminating the yellows [they've been there first, anyway] is a little racist to the original themes Lego figs? And I think Lego needs to start putting the fleshie faces into yellow, we have enough sunglasses and construction worker faces on the real side of Lego! And just on a related topic, when/if Lego gets a licence that needs an Asian minifig, do you think they would use tan or yellow? Quote
maiq the liar Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Fleshie + yellow sharpie = , as far as i'm concerned. Quote

I like the gang idea, but instead of yellows hunting fleshies and fleshies hunting yellows, why don't they hunt each other? Like different gangs always attacking each other? Wait, that's already been suggested! I might make a few fleshie vs. yellow MOCs myself... PS: Now that I think about it, the fleshies taking the yellows jobs reminds me of a debate going on in the U.S..... ;-) Edited August 16, 2008 by Adam Quote

Kingboy Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 And just on a related topic, when/if Lego gets a licence that needs an Asian minifig, do you think they would use tan or yellow? Uh...not paying attention to Speed Racer are we? Taejo Togokahn minifig from Speed Racer license Quote
hewkii9 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Well I don't see why Lando and Mace get their own minifig color but this Taejo fellow's just pink. And no, I haven't paid any attention to the Speed Racer line, ever since I noticed it has the worst possible Christina Ricci minifig. Quote
fallentomato Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I only tolerate the pale-fleshies because of the occasional dark-fleshies. I understand the rational behind the pale-fleshies, but I was quite happy with the way Cloud City dealt with the issue of race in the Lego world. I don't think Lego should be aiming for absolute realism, but I do think that the inclusion of dark-skin tones was very important, because while there a great deal of ethnicities that can portrayed pretty well with yellow, there is definitely a limit. One of the problems I have with fleshies is that they are a color that doesn't appear anywhere else in the Lego world, it makes them stand out from the other bricks in my opinion. That being said, I do think that all the colors of minifig can co-exist together, I like to think that the pale ones come from colder climates. Yellow will always be the predominant skin-tone in my Lego world (I'd use more dark-fleshies if they were easier to come by!), you can't beat the classic Quote
brickzone Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 My biggest gripe with fleshies is that the supposed white people are a diseased hue of pink. It is as if they picked the most unnatural shade possible. Certainly a poor option for anyone remotely tanned, and too pink for anyone not tanned. It's just a horrible colour. I feel they should have stuck with yellow heads, and just used darker colours where necessary to distinguish characters (as in the Cloud city example). Quote
Eterneo Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I think the fleshie tone looks a bit weird, but it it does not bother me to much. The only thing that bothers me is that for some torso's I can't use the new faces. (Imagine the yellow torso of Slave Princess Leia with the fleshie head of Katara of Avatar...) Anyway, my idea, two tribes live near eachother, the yellows and the fleshies have lived in war with eachother for years. But a boy from the yellows has fallen in love with a girl from the fleshies, can their love unite the two tribes, and stop a century-long war? Quote
xenologer Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 (edited) I thought fleshies were bad... but then I saw something even worse! Found on brickshelf (owner... rogueyoda) OMG! But Maybe, Maybe, these wierdo's could be used as Space Aliens? They remind me a lot of the scary scary aliens from 'Fire in the Sky' See the resemblance? Hmmh, I thinking of a MOC... To be honest, that's one of the reasons I like the light flesh heads, and every once in a while wish that LEGO would switch completely over to flesh heads (of whatever shade) Edited August 17, 2008 by Kingboy Quote
Infomaniac Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 the only advantage to having light flesh faces is that you can make diseased people in your castle Quote

Skipper 24 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 You missed off grey skin off the list, like Palpatine and Vader. An I'm not sure what color skin Darth Maul has? Quote
