New 2009 Pirates Sets - NEW closeups of the wench & mermaid added

I’ll happy admit the sterncastle doesn’t flow well, but if it did it might make the ship look a bit to short, that is just an opinion.

One final point on the sterncastle I was imagining the pirate ship as something like the English whelps images below

Built in the 1630’s and just left lying around the best thing our poor pirate could get but a bit better than a trading ship. I hope to see a proper naval vessel next year for the redcoats which will satisfy us all .

Don't hold your breath. Most of my red-brown is plates I'm using for deck on my frigate.

Has anyone else noticed that the new Pirate set numbers (6239, 6240, etc.) are filling in blanks in the old Pirate number list (the 6200s)? Curious, I thought, because TLG generally assigns a new group of numbers to returning themes.

Has anyone else noticed the torch used on the cannon in the fort? It looks like a chrome gold lightsaber hilt attached to the end of it. I hope so that would be a great new part. Anyway I like the pics so far and the Shako's look Very Good!

Just saw another pic and it looks a little different from a Hilt....who knows it may work as one though

I love all the revived pieces from the classic pirates line, and those new pieces like the small flame, the dynamite and the telescope are great! I like the soldier's fortress the best.

There´re some new general LEGO pics in that cool folder, and I really have to say that this looks like a pretty sexy Pirate MF to me... um.

Although the ship in that set looks a little more mediocre to me...

It looks like they are made for young kids. But still, that new ship

is better than Red Beard Runner. Not bad opening lego, not bad

I just saw the pictures for the Indy sets! That's old news though and off-topic. Well the sets are great, especially the boat! I am officially a pirate fan! I always have been, but never got the old sets. But now is my time to be happy!

Have to say I love these sets, the pirate ship and two smallest ones especially, what great new parts and bits. I'll certainly try to get most of them next year. The baseplate set may be the weakest but I still want that baseplate as it is rather cool too.

when TLG makes minifigs for a set they have the decals and paintings for them, so it wont be much work for them to make minifig pack for us armylovers.

i must make a company of the new soldiers.

the new fort remind me in a way of a mix between lagoon lockup and sabre island from imperial soldiers . there is not a BIG set here, but i think thats smart of TLG

first smaller "teaser set" that grandparents can buy to the children. and then , if the theme go well follow with bigger and bigger sets.

But pirates! Yes! These are great, and they have that classic Pirate feel while still incorporating the new feel. But what about the cannons? I know these are prelim and all, but could those possibly be the old shooting cannons?

The door and bars on the stockade seem to have a new texture to them also. Unless this was brought over from a castle set I am unaware of. Is the red used on the soldiers a darker red then the old Imperial Guards?
