Wout Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 A few earlier catalogs referenced a May release...which I would say means...March? Seems like it's always earlier than Lego says... In dutch shopcatalogue they wrote that it would be released in March. I'm still wandering about the little island and what it will be. I'm afraid it is a big piece. I think the shipwreck with the female pirate shall be a special set, not everywhere available. Quote

Yes, I think the Shipwreck set will likely be S@H/Toys R Us Exclusive...And it may come out later, too, just like the Agents sub set. Quote
Zarkan Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm still wandering about the little island and what it will be. I'm afraid it is a big piece. I don't really see what's wrong with having a big piece for the island - Pirate sets have used raised baseplates for years, and the ones in the new line are just a different style. I personally love that Loot Island has a unique baseplate - it makes it a must have for me, among other things. Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) 6239 Chase for the map (planned to buy: 4) 6240 Pirate raft (planned to buy: 2) 6241 Treasure Island (planned to buy: 1) 6242 Soldiers Fort (planned to buy: 4) 6243 Pirateship (planned to buy: 1) 8396 Soldier with three weapons, backpack and the big hat. (planned to buy: 10) 8397 Pirate with weapon and campfire. (planned to buy: 10) *This is planned on base knowlage of what I can afford financially* Okay a Quick review about the sets: 6239 Chase for the map The cannon on wheels is a new thing for the whole pirate theme, not unwelcome though! I really like to see this added to my collection! I can really use a few cannons for land based battles mainly! The figures are looking pretty nice, the pirate looks like a pirate with a belt that looks like it came straight from the Vikings theme! Does look great but I personnally don't like the figure though but is a nice addon! The soldier looks really nice and sure is a great addition to any collection! It's highly detailed but unfortunatly the set could use a second soldier if you ask me! 6240 Pirate raft The raft is for the first time without a sail and does give a bad look. I do love the golden spyglass that has been added and a recolored octopus! The pirates look a little dull if you ask me and the 2x2 barrel has obviously been replaced with a box. WHY??? since when is a box a nice thing to place on a raft?? Overall the raft is kinda dull and on my opinion not that worthy of buying. 6241 Treasure Island The new blue boat is great! I sure wish LEGO did this sooner! After a green and red boat for the Pirates they finally have a blue boat! Ofcourse you can take a white boat that is out there aswell! All figures look pretty good and will be a great addition to any collection! I how ever do not really like the looks of the island that looks too much like the jack Stone Pirate theme LEGO gave out. Also the 'siege' weapon on the island is looking really basic, i wish they had placed a real cannon or a smaller cannon that can be used in other sets aswell. 6242 Soldiers Fort A great set! I truely love it! it has a great classic pirate style look! Dynamite is now realalistic looking, even a banana and new flames! Simple build, but it does look great! Prison, tower and a small building! I notice the old captain is returned with new looks, 3 soldiers and a soldier officer!!! Just a great set i love to buy and I really recommend!!! Footnote: I noticed a fortress on the background, perhaps the same like the new castle line? A trick to give a small hint for late 2009 or early 2010? Also noticed a little brick (white 1x1 brick with eye) on the right side, perhaps this can be a component building? 6243 Pirateship A new ship for the pirates, although the ships that pirates used were mostly small fast ships this might just be aswell a good thing for the pirate theme. Jack Stone pirate themed sails are actually a bad thing to add, I wished they took more to create new sails in that. great figures have been added and a shark from the jack Stone theme... whish they didnt do that o_0 The ship actually is shaped pretty nice and NEW masts!!! I also notice they FINALLY added crownests! Now you finally won't have to improvice to create one yourself! I think the ship actually may be a little wider so you can add more guns inside and can build a bigger ship. I actually do not like the guns on the front, they are way up to high and the cannon on the back isnt looking nice on the back side. Further I notice a golden hook on the captain? The mast riggings look actually longer then the ones in the old sets, so can we espect something like 30 studs long rigginge now? They also look narrower then usually. I also noticed the 2x2 hole that used to be in the bow is gone aswell, new ship hull parts!!! FOOTNOTE: I noticed another ship with 2 masts on the background, looks like a big one aswell! So far I can see 8 sails! (look behind the island behind the pirate ship). 6253 Shipswreck Picture is too small to judge correctly 8396 Soldier with three weapons, backpack and the big hat. It's obviously based on the medieval set but if really a great pack anyways! A soldier with starter gear! A great set to start out any collection! 8397 Pirate with weapon and campfire. Another great starter set! A unique pirate you can not find in any of the sets, a snake, fish and a crate. Edited October 30, 2008 by Voodoo Hand Quote
Barbaros Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Just wondering and I don't know if this was already discussed, but does anybody know the exact dates in which the new Lego Pirate sets would be released for sale? Thanks! Quote
Zorro Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) Nope, not yet, they are expected to be released somewhere in the first couple of months of 2009. Once we know more it will certainly be posted here! You are not the only one that is awaiting them with impatience. Edited November 2, 2008 by zorro3999 Quote
The Cobra Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 The German preliminary catalogue says sets will be released in May. Quote
The Rancor Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 The German preliminary catalogue says sets will be released in May. But the source of all the new cache pics for 2009 said they could deliver the Pirate sets for 'Januar' Quote
The Cobra Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) Well, Shop at home usually sells the sets some months before they hit the shops. So does that seller (which happens to be Italian and have a few sets that are not available in our country in "regular" shops). Edited November 2, 2008 by The Cobra Quote
Bricklanta Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 The soldiers in the pirate sets, are they supposed to be British? Edit Bonaparte: Credit for the pictures goes to our member Lego12. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Yup; they have Red Coats; hint hint, Redcoats against Napoleon? Quote
Zorro Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) Nope, they are just 'Imperials', Lego doesn't like producing historical battles or armies. Do with them whatever you want: you want Brits, you have Brits! Dutch? Dutchies you have! Edited November 11, 2008 by zorro3999 Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 11, 2008 Governor Posted November 11, 2008 Look what I found! Quote
Capt. Bluebeard Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Notice how all of them are smiling except the 2nd one? Bluebeard, out- Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 11, 2008 Governor Posted November 11, 2008 I'd have said the first soldier was smirking rather than smiling. And interesting detail which I haven't seen before is the printing on the back of the torsos - the soldiers seem to have ruck sacks and the important looking blue fellow has coat tails. Quote
Mile85 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Those look pretty good, better than I expected. I wonder what is the quality of the decals on the shakos... I hope they don't come of very easily. Quote
Zorro Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) They call them "Pirates II" now. Click here to see them. We can find one inventory already (not confimed yet!) Cannon Battle Edited November 11, 2008 by zorro3999 Quote

It seems TLC is throwing everything they can at 2009. New pieces, double sided torsos, some new faces, a new theme (Power miners) and a new subtheme-farm sets. Though i'm not into Pirates, many of the figs interest me. I will probably pick up the Pirate survival impulse, and maybe the next smallest set or something. Quote
Joey Lock Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Woo! New soldiers, I want to see wheter you can still see the Ammo Pouch in the corner with the Backpack on. Quote
Bricklanta Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 The double sided torsos look cool. :D Quote
metalandi Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Thanks for this information! I finally registered on bricklink now, cause ebay f..... with me too often. Quote
Zarkan Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 The new pirate minifigs are easily some of the best figures ever, IMO. So much detail, two sided torsos, awesome new faces, printed hats - they're just wonderful! Quote
Zorro Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I agree with the fact they belong to the best! I even like them more then the old guards. Please let those impulse packs become available in Belgium ASAP. Quote
furious Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 words cannot describe how much I love these guys. Quote
