Having seen the new Pirates sets that are pretty faithful to the originals, I'd say a faithful Space Police is a safe bet.

If Lego ordered the list removed, that confirms it's real. It's always funny to me when corporations take actions like that, since to not take any action would give the rumors much less credence.

Are there pictures of the new pirate sets? Or are you just going by names?

Also, yes, I also find that amusing. I guess they just want to keep the information from spreading.

I dont know why they took down the Space sets list, it didnt even have names only numbers next to the word space police

Anyway this pretty much confirms it since they took them down...

Blacktron 3 anyone :cry_happy:

Regarding the removal of the names of sets, I can understand Lego's perspective. They want to time the hype to suit their business needs. It doesn't make good business sense to have people excited about these sets when they still have Mars Mission sets that won't be released until October as people will start thinking they'll save their $s (or Euros or whatever) until the new space sets come out.

But if the pirates pics are anything to go by, we're going to get some great looking 'classic' style space sets, so I'm saving my money already.

I hope there ends up being alot of truth to this rumor.

And if true, please let there be no orange in these sets, except for a very few small round plates and cones...

to be honest, i'm a bit split on what to think of the news. It all depends on how Lego is going to proceed. if the sets have the quality of the city sets then i'll be quite happy, even if the details or the colours are not particularly what i'm looking for... I'll even be quite happy with giant or super sized models, as long as the quality is good...

BUT: there are a few things that can ruin everything: (Copmike: please copy/paste for your dailly briefings to Lego's board  )

bad minifigs. The insectoids and the UFO-dudes of the past were really not great. We need airtanked folk with good looking headgear and some decent space guns would be great too! not the eh... megaphone crap, like the stormtroopers of the past... Space fans won't be happy having to deal with megaphones when sw has brand new , high class weapons!

bad transparent colours. Please, please, please, no ugly trans green (horrible, not fitting any space moc), trans orange (tiiiiiiired of those), trans yellow-green (i'm sure there's a word for it, but why waste my time to look it up for such a crappy colour anyway)

Holes in the designs. a space ship does not have gaps in a cockpit! Having gaps in your cockpit when flying into space can really ruin your day! gaps indicate bad quality design or lack of willingness to create a real good model. don't want that

Too many big parts. ok, they may not always juniorise the model, but they surely give the impression that a model IS <insert that tiresome argument>. besides, most of the big parts are ugly, not compatible with any kind of decent MOC.

Plastic wheels... don't like them, especially the smaller ones. it's not that they can't be realistic, it's the colour they come in (like orange or blue - have you ever seen orange wheels? I havent.), and they remind me too much of the fact that lego is a toy and a space set, a set for kids... I did use them as batteries in the past, but now they're not even good for that anymore!

shooting mechanisms. if they're in there, i'll ritually burn them and cast a voodoo spell over any one who came up with them in the first place.

crappy cockpit. a seat in a space craft is not a cockpit! that's just a seat in a space craft. i want printed - not stickered- printed tiles and computers!

too many lego technic bricks. i'll allow just a few of these technic bricks for structural reasons, but going over the limit means --> same treatment as in the case of the shooting mechanism

too many printed parts other than computers that look more like a Picasso in space than a printed space part. please read "shooting mechanisms"

white as a basic colour. please, please, please, NO WHITE!!!!!

crappy parts of which nobody knows their real meaning. things that can either be a gun or a loud speaker, a bazooka or a camera... make up your mind!

no engine or a really bad one... it's a space ship, space ships neeeeeeeed BIG engines! no crappy sticker with a printed arrow saying the tile underneath this arrow is supposed to be an engine...

that basically sums it up...

oh no, wait!

i want BIIIIIIIG space ships, not just these 5 part flying things that were just built with some sw left overs...

I must protest this. Not everything you have mentioned is bad. Of course I could not agree more on some items. I have added my thoughts to your. Please feel free to defend your positions.

Insectoids were too much. UFO isn't all that bad but suffered from some over zealous printing and poor color choices. I actually like the classic space guns but I must admit a couple new varieties would not hurt. Just please don't give us SW left over guns.
bad transparent colours. Please, please, please, no ugly trans green (horrible, not fitting any space moc), trans orange (tiiiiiiired of those), trans yellow-green (i'm sure there's a word for it, but why waste my time to look it up for such a crappy colour anyway)
Space Police two was not awful and done right trans green would have worked really well in space. I personally think Mtron needed green instead of neon green and I hope to prove it in the coming month. I am just tired of the colors we have loads of already. Please bring out the trans red and yellow again. What might be really novel is to give us trans clear parts. Insane I know but it could work.
Holes in the designs. a space ship does not have gaps in a cockpit! Having gaps in your cockpit when flying into space can really ruin your day! gaps indicate bad quality design or lack of willingness to create a real good model. don't want that
Yes, you said it totally right here. Gaps and lazy building need to go! Don't be cheap, add in the two or three extra pieces to finish a model properly.
Too many big parts. ok, they may not always juniorise the model, but they surely give the impression that a model IS <insert that tiresome argument>. besides, most of the big parts are ugly, not compatible with any kind of decent MOC.
I remember building some of the car engines of yesteryear and how they were made of a dozen or so common parts but ended up looking great in the end. Why not take a similar approach with the new sets. Use smaller parts to make a larger item. That way there are more opportunities for alternate models and other building that can be done. Big parts are okay if they work well and have plenty of uses but the parts that only have a few decent uses or or too large just need to go.
I like colored wheels. Even orange ones. The rubber ones bring up the cost of sets. I would rather have the cheaper colorful wheels and get more set pieces than have rubber wheels that can only be used as wheels and get less set for the money or have to pay more for the set in general.
shooting mechanisms. if they're in there, i'll ritually burn them and cast a voodoo spell over any one who came up with them in the first place.
These need to go. Flick missles, catapults, and shooters all need to dissapear. Ships will still shoot imaginary lasers with or without them. If you want to add play functions try landing gear, unfolding cargo ramps, rotating wings or cockpits, engine hatches for repairs or refueling, a detachable escape pod, cargo boxes that can be picked up or dropped off, or anything that adds play value over attack value. Pretend plastic lasers still shoot no matter what but a boring ship without any of those other things becomes just a weapon that needs to be reloaded all the time with flick missles, launchers or catapult like projectiles.
crappy cockpit. a seat in a space craft is not a cockpit! that's just a seat in a space craft. i want printed - not stickered- printed tiles and computers!
Here, here! Levers, computers, and gizmos a good cockpit does make!
too many lego technic bricks. i'll allow just a few of these technic bricks for structural reasons, but going over the limit means --> same treatment as in the case of the shooting mechanism
Batman, Exo Force, and other themes suffer unjustly under the weight of technic. Over half of a given set in these themes is easily technic now. Can you at least cut back some. The original space police only ever had a dozen or so parts most of which were pins or axles and maybe a small brick or two.
too many printed parts other than computers that look more like a Picasso in space than a printed space part. please read "shooting mechanisms"

Having a few slopes, tiles, or other parts is nice to help identify a ship or any model for a certain group. Plastering a model like exo force model were says poor design and that printed parts or stickers need to make a lackluster model stand out more. It should not be so! Quality design from the beginning makes a model worth having, decorations should add to not be te main attraction. If you have to add printed parts, make them hologram screens of galactic maps that are inside the ship or give us an extra figure or two, even aliens (molded or printed heads on minifigure bodies) might be nice.

white as a basic colour. please, please, please, NO WHITE!!!!!
Why? I like the white in Blacktron II, Futuron didn't suffer for it, nor Exploriens. So why no white? Color fastness maybe? I think white looks very futuristic. Just don;t make it all white like the town space shuttles.
crappy parts of which nobody knows their real meaning. things that can either be a gun or a loud speaker, a bazooka or a camera... make up your mind!
I like these parts actually. The more uses I can get out of a part the more I like it. Singular purpose parts have limited appeal. That said it is nice to have both.
no engine or a really bad one... it's a space ship, space ships neeeeeeeed BIG engines! no crappy sticker with a printed arrow saying the tile underneath this arrow is supposed to be an engine...
If there is no engine at least make something that acts as an engine. If it is too hard to be original just copy the formula for starwars engines. At least then people know what they are.
i want BIIIIIIIG space ships, not just these 5 part flying things that were just built with some sw left overs...
I think that there should be an alternate online downloadable version of instructions for a large ship. Let me buy up the whole collection of a series and have someone at LEGO design a large alternate model ship out of all the parts for that series. That way there are no restrictions on what is built outside of the pieces included in all the models. Give us a huge dream ship built by a master LEGO builder. I don't want to pay $200 or more for a set like the crazy StarWars addict have to.

Hmmm... I like the orange/white color scheme for Mars. Plus, all those orange bricks can be parted-out for Dr Inferno and his evil henchmen to battle Agents.

I'm really looking forward to this. Along with Adventurers and Wild West, Space was one of my most beloved-but-never-got themes. I really love that TLC is returning to it's routes, I'd love to see a mix of classic and new building schemes, with big and well built crafter that aren't hole filled technic. Most of all it has to be in space, cross planetary even.

Funnily enough, it's much the same here. I missed out on Classic Space completely, and then the stuff from the late-80s/early-90s. Even after that, I was never a big Space buyer. If this new theme mixes the new and the old it could be really good. 'Could' is of course the key word there.

However, looking at what we've already seen of next year, I'm hopeful.

You must be my older doppelganger! :oh:

I only got a UFO and Insectoids set, which were fun but not as good as other themes, though Insectoids are underrated. I too am hopeful, but then in another sense I'm not, too many good things to buy!

Just kidding, even if I can't buy much of it I wish it well, I just hope Lego doesn't go too crazy, it is spoiling us too much.

no more white because we've had more than enough white. sometimes change is good... tired of the colour combination white-orange...

i'd rather have the trans-black canopies. all the different trans colours just make the model look like a toy, not a space ship

UFO had soooo many printed parts it made the model look like crap...

I like the sound of this, if they have some appealing features (The figs) I may purchase some, but im trying not to spend to much though.

I agree with you on some of this, but...

Agree, I like white but white and orange need to rest after a couple creamsicle intensive years.

Disagree so much. We've had trans-black canopies out the yin-yang in Star Wars for a decade. Give us colored canopies that allow us to create ships with a mixture of the old and new pieces. Yes, I want trans-yellow, trans-green, trans-blue and I'm willing to hold someone else's breath until I get them!

UFO had soooo many printed parts it made the model look like crap...

I don't think that was UFOs downfall. I think it was the dependance on one large new piece over and over and over again (my friends.). Which was also the downfall of the MM Alien's ships.

Are you saying you prefer the stickers because then you could just leave them off?

Tohst- on the eve of desctruction

I too am one for colored canopies/windscreens, just not orange in the next theme. My ideal color is trans-blue (light or dark), I think its the most believable of the windscreen colors apart from trans-black, and would also work to improve the look of Mars Mission sets which already have trans-blue elements. And given SW will always have trans-black, I'm all for something different in another line.

A new Space Police line using mostly standard parts (to keep down set cost) with some special or rare pieces mixed in, and a solid set design that combines the best of the old with the new is a winning formula in my view. Just be sure they include printed console/computer tiles and slopes.

If Space Police is coming back, Blacktron is coming back too.

Maybe someone should make a poll about this- who they want to fight Space Police. Maybe I will...
