Justin Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) WOW! Those are cool SpongeBob LEGO, those sets make their 2006 counterparts look inferior. Both those new 2009 sets look very nice. They even gave Patrick, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs new facial expressions in the updated Krusty Krab set. I just wish the steering wheel on the door of SpongeBob's pineapple was light blue rather than brown, it would've been a lot closer to the design on the show. There are flowers surrounding the pineapple, just like on the show. I like the patty wagon in the upcoming Krusty Krab set. The only flaw I see in the vehicle's design is that the wheels were supposed to resemble pickle slices, just like in the movie. Happy upcoming 10th Anniversary, SpongeBob SquarePants! 1999-2009 Edited October 28, 2008 by Justin Quote
Justin Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Love the new Squidward, Gary food dish, leaf blower, and book... everything else we've seen before. Except the fact that you forgot the new barbecue grill, beach umbrella, and lounge chair. The boatmobile has a catapult on it. Quote
iamded Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Lookin' nice. New Spongebob heads. Since these are redesigns of already released sets, will be released in a wider range of countries? Like, say Aussie and New Zealand? ~Peace Quote
Dragonator Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Lookin' nice. New Spongebob heads. Since these are redesigns of already released sets, will be released in a wider range of countries? Like, say Aussie and New Zealand?~Peace You know the Crusty Krab was available through my local store a few months ago, although I don't think he has any left now. If you wanted one, you should have told me! Quote
Skipper 24 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I don't think the pineapple has a backing so what about if you got the old set and the new together to make it whole! Quote
Justin Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I hope SpongeBob's pineapple has a better interior. Quote
Cyclone Titan Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I do like these sets, but to tell the truth, the sets are nearly the same without extras, and in the KK, the put a table in the front, instead of the shell and it looks like the place has no interior design! CT PS: I wouldn't mind a Krusty Towers set... Quote
Lloyd Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I don't think there will be re-designs because usually the pics of sets before the re-designs uses older parts. For example, the first design of this set http://www.flickr.com/photos/-chuckc-/2979...57608427642713/ included Patricks body instead of a strong guy and the cockpit of Anakins Starfighter instead of a new one. However the Spongerbob sets include new pieces, a prime example being Squidwards head. Also that box art looks pretty definate if you ask me! -Lloyd Quote
Justin Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 We'd usually expect something good out of the redesigns. That's why I like them. This is no exception. Quote
???theriddler??? Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Like the patty mobile and spongebob's home! With squidward! Quote
Skipper 24 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Official set names from the site where I got the pics. 3833 The Adventures of Krasty Krab 3834 The Neighborhood of Bikini Bottom Quote
Norrington Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 A little bigger: Thanks Lego-Freak for the news! Huh. I'm sure these are preliminary, but Spongebob's house looks just like the one from the Bikini Bottom set, just with more furniture. Quote
Justin Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Huh. I'm sure these are preliminary, but Spongebob's house looks just like the one from the Bikini Bottom set, just with more furniture. Yeah, they modified them. Notice the smokestack on SpongeBob's pineapple, as well as the leaves on top. I hope they release more pics soon. I sense another January release date is upon us, with more sets coming in August 2009, like this year's sets. Quote
The Who Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I got the Brickmaster magazine today, and it shows the sets, from an aerial view. I would post pics, but my technology does not allow me to----sorry. And no, they're not exactly preliminary, I think that is the final design, although both flags are on the patty-mobile. Quote
Derek Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 Here's a LEGO Club Magazine preview: Is this the only thread you post in? But anyway, I think the Spongebob line is gonna be going down the drain if Lego doesn't release anything new in 2009. I'm sure the fans of the line already have the sets similar (or even better IMHO... ) to these and won't buy them. This is sad because there is much more material and characters that could be made and sold well. Realistically, I can't see more than an exclusive set in addition to these. (not unlike this year's emergency room...) -darthperson Quote

(not unlike this year's emergency room...) -darthperson I hope the exclusive has something to do with SpongeBob SquarePants' 10th anniversary on May 1st, 2009 next year (yes, he first aired on Nickelodeon that year with the pilot episode, "Help Wanted," on May 1st, 1999, the rest of the first season aired, starting on July 17th that same year.). That would be great to see. I personally believe that they should make two new Sandy minifigures, but this time, they should make a cloth tail (in the style of a cape) to attach between Sandy's head and torso. They should try and make her treedome (or at least the tree inside of it) into an actual building set. They should also try and make a couple trans-blue and trans-green colored bakers' hat pieces for a Jellyfish Fields set, as well as make use of a green version of the island baseplate from a new Pirates set to give Jellyfish Fields a more realistic look. At least the new sets will make for a nice parts pack. What also worries me is the fact that purple is being used very rarely these days, if not at all. I would've loved to see purple BURPS that resemble the reefs on the show. I hope LEGO brings back purple in the future if this is the case. Quote
Svelte Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Lookin' nice. New Spongebob heads. Since these are redesigns of already released sets, will be released in a wider range of countries? Like, say Aussie and New Zealand?~Peace I think that's probably the intention - release to a wider market. Target released all 3 SB sets this year as special sales items and stocks vaporised instantly, so they probably figure there's a market and retailers want more. Even if I find the sets personally disappointing, it probably makes sense from a retail point of view to re-release the two most recognisable buildings from the series. Quote

Justin Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Here are the front and back of each set (source: LEGO.com): #3833 Krusty Krab Adventures #3834 Good Neighbors at Bikini Bottom I like the detailed interior of SpongeBob's pineapple house in set #3834. Better interior than the original! Quote
Dennimator Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) I really want those sets. The Crusty Crab is a perfect hamburger restaurant chain for my tabletown (yep, I have the old one as well), and the ananas pineapple have plenty of orange parts for MOCing.
