Hinckley Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 May I kindly ask you to update the first page of this thread (and the description in the subtitle) with the contents of this folder? (they were posted in different threads already and I miss them here) Of course I cannot, and they should be removed from the other threads as well... Quote
brickzone Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Well, the highway maintanance looks pretty well done. I too would like if they weren't orange - but considering orange is a colour that TLC use now, it makes sense to re-use it over and over so that people/kids end up with a usable amount of it. My recommendation would simply be to try out building some orange-based MoCs - the colour does offer plenty of scope despite the brashness of it. As regards the poor quality pics, when scaled down you can get a reasonable idea of the set, just not the detail. I certainly like the look of these sets. The corner shops/bus stop looks nice. The truck repair/garage looks insane - pricey, pricey, pricey surely! Like the look of the camper and sports car. My brother always wanted the old 4-wide camper as a kid, but when he finally got it recently it finally put the issue to rest - 4-wide was quite a constraining medium and it doesn't really cut the mustard today (or even in the 90s). I look forward to a 6-wide camper van myself. Concerning the updating of topics - I certainly find that the first post is not always up to date, and indeed I sometimes miss posts in fast-moving threads, so I empathise somewhat with those getting a bit hot under the collar about it all. I think people need not to take things quite so seriously though - I certainly favor mods taking action to close dupe threads/posts (indeed doing so with an iron fist gets my vote) and do their best to inform people (over-and-over again as necessary), but I think the rest of the posters could just do their best to ignore such "grievous" occurances and give the "offender" and mods both a chance! I would agree that even the best intentioned members, new or old, could accidentally post what they think is "news" and turns out to be "olds" (you know, news broken three nanoseconds earlier ;). dhaas06 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Of course I cannot, and they should be removed from the other threads as well... Yeah, what Hinckley is saying is that these photos are great for getting an early preview, but they are definitely not supplied by TLG. These pics are preliminary, subject to change, and any hosting of them on Eurobricks can open a can of worms with copyright law issues (as I understand it). The same goes for the three new castle images. So, let's just enjoy the links to other sites for now . Quote

There pictures that are on the internet, theref ore its preety much open market for anyone to view them as long as no ones computer was hacked to get them. EB won't allow these paticular photos due to there poor quality. Good photos that are posted and then taken down are generally at the request of TLG. Quote

We don't allow preliminary copyrighted pics because they shouldn't be posted, legally and ethically. Not because the quality is poor. Do me a favor-don't answer for us. First off, both these post contradict each other. First you say blurry pics won't be posted, then you tell me that poor quality has nothing to do with it. Doesn't make much sence. Second, my "info" was based from past posts right here on EB. You even asked me and another memeber in this very thread not to post "blurry pics of new sets". Third, I was never at any point answering for you, or any of the EB staff. Again, your argument is contradicting since EB has posted pliminary photos many, many times in the past. At times even front paged. You Then to have them remoed a day or two later at the request of an ambassador. This is no secret Hinnkley. I really don't understand why you've been on the defensive so much lately. Your taking it like its a direct attack on you or the staff when it clearly is not. That being said i'm also intitled to my opinion as are others. Quote

For anyone who wants to be rational, blurry pics are clearly prelims as they are obviously photographed from dealer catalogues and not meant to be published through TLG. Blurry prelim picture are not welcome here and it's not on account of their quality. Blurriness denotes prelim or dealer catalogue pics and my opposition to them doesn't contradict our site policy, it sticks to it. EB has had clear problems with TLG in the past but we're reforming our policy 51550llego, and we hope our members support our changes. You're entitled to your opinion but not to lay out site policy for other people or make statement that contradict our guidelines. Blurry prelim pics or prelim pics stamped confidential are not to be posted here. Another thing that is not welcome here is members who wish to force their opinion on other members concerning site policy which they clearly have wrong. Everyone is welcome to express their opinion on this site, but as it is a private site please don't force your views on others and the staff as if it is the moral end-all be-all of the site or the community. I find that ridiculous and annoying... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I don't know how you feel about this discussion on whether posting blurry pics of the new amazing summer City sets in the first post or not - I'm very bored about that. Everybody can search the set numbers on BS and then find pics. Only an idea: Perhaps there could be posted in the first post a link to one BS folder with all the new pics. Back to the sets: I didn't yet comment on the new Creator house: It looks awesome! I really hope that TLG will release a house in this design in the City theme in the next years, too - how amazing a big apartment house (like the new Playmobil one) would be!!! Btw: I wish you all a happy new year! I hope that you all are and will stay healthy, are going to design as excellent MOCs like before and will have enough money to buy all Lego sets you want to own! I really hope that TLG will release a house in this design in the City theme in the next years I must admit I quite like it I guess it's grown on me like some sort of leech ...not the colour scheme but the overall build. But I still prefer 4596. Also if we're talkin' about creator should'nt it be in the other themes section Does'nt really matter I guess....Since it's Cityish.. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I firstly noticed today when looking again at the blurry pics of the new amazing summer sets that there is a second street lamp (on the plate of the bucycle shop). I think that the bicycle shop won't include any doors and windows - or at least no door - since the place between the center peer and the two outwalls is imo 6 stuck. And it might well be that there is no roof. Hopefully then there will be a roof and a door on the left side and two big transparent wall bricks in the front of the house. If there would be no windows and doors that would be really a pity since it would destroy the whole other excellent outside design (we regrettably do not yet know how it looks inside) of the lovely bicycle shop! I know that I'm very ambitious and perhaps bother some of you with that - but it's like it is. As for the price of the set I'd guess that it'll be 89,99 Euros - but that would be ok for that  set! Btw: Since there already will be the garage as a big set for summer: Does someone know whether the brilliant City Corner will be an exclusive, limited or hard to find set or a set which is only available at some special toy shops? Jeff S Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks Whung. I had saw the promo plane on ebay for like 50-60 $ US Jeff Quote
The Cobra Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks Whung, it is a Ice-Cream stand! I usually don't like saying "I told you so"... but I told you so! (yet I tought those where ice cream tops, not just round plates) Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Thank you very much for those pics, whung! The little promo set is ok - but I wouldn't pay only one cent for it since it's imo dispensable. Like already mentioned before I don't like that ariplane - it looks more like Creator than like City. And which sense does an ice cream stand make in that set?! It seems as if TLG didn't know what they should add to the plane! But I'm really lucky that - apart from these two promo sets - all these awesome City summer sets seem to be available in regular shops or at least at S@H! Klaus-Dieter Quote
metalandi Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Oh, Instructions start to show up..hopefully there will also be the ones from the more interesting sets online soon, but at the moment the airplane is a must buy for me, mostly because of the ice cream stand Quote

Klaus-Dieter I fail to see why that is a problem. Creator has given us some excellent sets that can easily be incorporated into town layouts - most notably the houses and ferry. Honestly, I think the new promo set is just fine. Sure, it's nothing special, but at the same time it has a nice charming feel to it. Plus, although the ice cream stand is out of place, it's a nice little design. Quote
VBBN Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 (edited) Is that a new face on the female fig? Nevermind, it was just the pic. Edited January 3, 2009 by VBBN Quote
JimBee Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 (edited) And which sense does an ice cream stand make in that set?! It seems as if TLG didn't know what they should add to the plane! What do you mean? I don't think that the ice cream stand is part of the plane, if that's what you're saying. I personally like the plane a lot, and it could be useful in steampunk or Indy MOCs. EDIT: Oh wait, the ice cream stand and the plane are the same set... my bad. Edited January 3, 2009 by JimButcher Quote
Hellingly Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I guess the ice cream stand is included because it's an airshow? Quote
Bob Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Is that the normal brown hair in the ice cream set, or is it black hair? I can't really tell, but if it is black hair like that, thats good news! Quote
metalandi Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I don't think it is. In the instructions it looks clearly different than the helmet ogf the pilot, which is definitely brown. Quote
