BlueBard Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I don't think it's a gas pump but an emergency phone...Dr. Brick It also looks like an emergency phone for me. But why the Shell Icon, then? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Thank you very much for the link, Erdbeereis, and for the pics, sir dano! To the City Corner: Again I must say that I'm overwhelmed! There is even a kid included in this set! And the bus has some "promo" stickers on it - very realistic! The only thing about which I'm very disappointed is that the bicycle shop does not inlcude a doors and (supposably) even not a window - but only big holes in the wall and that the interior of the bicycle shop seems to be very moderate! Otherwise it's simply excellent and I can't await to see pics of the interior! It also looks like an emergency phone for me. But why the Shell Icon, then? I think that TLG may even not have already finished the final version (of the sticker). Plus you can't say with 100 percent safety that it is a Shell sticker. Klaus-Dieter Quote
Yeow Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I must say, I like the front end of 8402 much better than the one in 7898. Too bad it's in red again, though. A nice blue or green would of been much better. Quote
BlueBard Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 2009 City sets are finally in Spain!!!!! I saw them in a toy store yesterday afternoon and I could not resist: I took two 8401: And the second one brought 3 extra stickers!!! Quote
Lord Santos Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 So that means one more week for Portugal then... Quote
Optikal Illushun Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Coming from a background and career in being a mechanic i really dig the new garage. it has an overhead hoise, lift, several bays oh my i am getting excited. the wrecker (tow truck) has potential as well as the bus stop. the car is kinda blahsay for me, i think a smarted idea for TLC would be to offer is in several colors...how many red cars can one town have. Skipper 24 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 I really like the pizza place, and isn't that pizza boy called Pepper or something? The bus in it looks quite all right too. Quote
Bricks Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 I hope to get some of the new city set's next week in our local store! And another question: Did we have any more informations about the promo set 7643 Air Show Plane? -Thanks for an answer- Greetings Bricks Quote
Optikal Illushun Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 i have a silly question but are the farm sets out in the US yet? they have most of the construction sets at wal-mart and target but no farm sets here. also, are any of the farm sets TRU exclusives? Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I am not totally sure, but according to Brickset, they are availble at TRU. Hope I helped. -Ricecracker Quote
metalandi Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Only the tractor and harvester, though. Quote
Optikal Illushun Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 thanx guys, i hope it isnt a TRU exclusive Quote
bullet8542 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I picked up the Tractor the other day at TRU it did not say exclusive or Limited edition etc. It is a little expensive for the piece count. $14.99 for 78pc. thanx guys, i hope it isnt a TRU exclusive Quote
Justin Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) LEGO CITY is leaving the farm behind and is heading downtown this summer! When it comes to LEGO CITY, 2009 will probably be the best year ever, no matter how pricey the LEGO CITY sets may get. Edited January 29, 2009 by Justin Quote
brickzone Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 The Lego Farm sets are now on the online catalogue of Smyth's Toys (UK and Ireland). They show stock as unavailable until March. Still, good to know at least one retailer here *will* have the City Farm sets in March. Tractor: £7.99/€9.99 4WD with Horsebox: £12.99/€16.99 Combine Harvester: £29.99/€39.99 Farm: £49.99/€64.99 Smyth's are probably the main toy retailer in Ireland, and sometimes have prices cheaper than Irish S@H prices, otherwise usually the same. Nevertheless, you can see that I'll probably try to get the Farm from the UK if I go for it (I'll skip altogether on the combine harvester). Irish site: www.toys.ie UK site: www.smythstoys.com Quote
Razzer Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for the prices brickzone! thanx guys, i hope it isnt a TRU exclusive Errm, in the combine harvester review the box picture shows that it is a limited edition. Does that mean it is an exclusive? I'm not really sure.. Quote
Brickthing Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for the prices brickzone!Errm, in the combine harvester review the box picture shows that it is a limited edition. Does that mean it is an exclusive? I'm not really sure.. Usually it does, but some sets are Limited/Special Editions and Exclusive in some parts of the world, but not in others. Quote
Sully Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Farm Set is now available on US TRU. $89.99 Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Yesterday evening I had a lambency when I looked at the pic of the Temple of Doom. Why?! Because there are some new tracks on which a train can drive up and down. And what has that now to do with this topic here?! We already have got the information about an exclusive train set for this year which shall be desgined for mainly AFOLs. And now?! Since this year is an absolutely amazing year - supposably the best year considering Lego City sets - where TLG does not only release totally new City subthemes and sets (like the great Farm theme) but even releases some in some points re-designed sets (like e. g. the City Corner which shows parallels to sets like the old Main Street or the ols Town Square) it might well be that TLG releases a in some points re-designed train set, too. So what about a re-deisgn of this set: There are four reasons which speak for a re-design of this set: 1. The new tracks on which a train can drive up and down exchange the monorail tracks. -The new train shall be driven by PFs. So there is no problem to drive up and down these new tracks. Plus the grade is not too bis so that the motor can carry the train up. -It wouldn't be profitable to release a new and big mold for only one set. 2. A lot of AFOLs (me included!) surely would love a re-design of the amazing Airport Shuttle set and consequently buy it! 3. The cargo train and the passenger train seem to be yet in production. So another passenger train or cargo train - even if it would be desgined completely different and with much more details and accesories - wouldn't be very different and consequently even not been sold that much. But a set similar to that would be something absolutely excepptional. 4. An exclusive train which is built after the archetype of European trains wouldn't sell that good in America - and an exclusive train which is built after the archetype of American trains wouldn't sell that good in Europe. But a set similar to that one isn't specialised on one country or continent and so would sell much better. After having seen the pic of this IJ set I was quite sure and still am sure that we'll get a re-design of the Airport Shuttle - so let's see whether I'm right or wrong. What do you think? metalandi Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Brickshelf user legovally ahs apperantly got the new farm sets, ad uploaded some shots of the box. hopefully we can see a full review soon, in the meanwhile i kindly link you to his folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=365495 Quote
Lockt Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 What do you think?Klaus-Dieter I had similar thoughts, although I did not pull the shuttle with it. It was clearly stated in the articles of the new train-system that new track geometrics would be considered. So it is likely these Indy tracks will end up in some train set as well. Quote
BryanKinkel Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 We already have got the information about an exclusive train set for this year which shall be desgined for mainly AFOLs.And now?! ...must have missed that post - what do we know about this exclusive train? I know that AFOLs really want that monorail - I purchased an Airport Shuttle a few years back for over $400. But with the two communications from LEGO about the train system, I doubt they would issue a monorail and call it "train." I think we will be getting a new trains system with proper trains. And I would love to have them be European style. Even though I'm American (Philadelphia!) - I really like the European trains. I've been looking at Marklin & Vollmer catalogs lately for inspiration. It was that old 1980 12V Train catalog that got me started on this whole thing... Of course I'm sure everyone would love to see both a train system and monorail. Bring it! -- Bryan Quote

Bring it! -- Bryan I unluckily don't own the awesome Airport Shuttle but hope that TLG will offer us something similar in the near future! First of all: That the esclusive train set will be some sort of monorail and/or some sort of redesign of the amazing Airport Shuttle set was/is only an idea! In one official announcement (a long while ago) it was said that there will be a train set which should mainly address AFOLs. And legomilk told us that he heard something about that there'll be an exclusive train set this year. But we haven't got any confirmation until now. And we have no set number and even no set name. Since we have not a set name which says "... train" it could be a train set as well as a monorail set. Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Not very long ago legomilk wrote in the 2009 Sets(all) subforum following: Today I was in the vicinity of legoland. and I have talked with someone who works there. He said that shop at home through a new train comes with rails. a locomotive. just know that someone a little more? So - very supposably no monorail! A locomotive sounds more like a steam engine which wouldn't fit that perfectly in the City theme. Klaus-Dieter Quote
