Filip Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I must get that red car and the camper. The set with the bus is the best looking set of them all, but I think it might get a bit pricy. Quote
Derek Posted February 15, 2009 Author Posted February 15, 2009 They really want $10 for that car? $8 would have been perfect. I am quite pleased with the Camper price. It could have easily had been $5 more. Those will probably be the only two I'm getting. I might consider the city corner set, do we have a price for that yet? Quote
phoinix Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 check out these great city images by no-onions on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/no_onions/set...57613828009267/ he is uploading more as we speak so keep on clicking!! Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 They really want $10 for that car? $8 would have been perfect. I was thinking $6, the ting is tiny for $10. The camper is only $7 more? Quote
sens1992 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Great pics! Can't wait to buy the Camper / City Corner / Garage... I tought that the doors of the bus would open the other way around... It would be great if they could release another BUS set with pretty much the same color (for the bus) but with a different bus this time, perhaps an articulated bus or a double decker so they would look like a fleet! I am dreaming I guess! Another thing, I find interesting that the garage has a tow truck but yet, LEGO is releasing another tow truck??? I mean, I understand that the garage's tow truck is for trucks (more or less) but two tow trucks in the same year??? They could have came up with a smaller building set (restaurant, snack bar, bank, drive thru bank machine with car, bus stop, hydro truck or city park) instead of a second tow truck... I am happy despite the two trucks! :-) Quote
penguinz Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Wow! I will probably pick up the City Corner, the Camper, and maybe the Car. Lego is doing too many good sets this summer! I do not know where I am going to get the money! Thanks for posting the pictures! Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 The camper's opening mechanism reminds me of the police armored car from several years back, 2005 I think it was. Quote
5150 Lego Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Sorry to be the bad apple, but i'm quite disapointed in the camper. While the opening of the rear is trick, it seriously lacks any real detail inside. Just a couple of chairs and a cup. I understand that there limited on space, but it just seems like there could have been a bit more. The Garage is great! Two work bays and a garage to house the tow truck (or can be moddified inot a third bay). Very cool. I like the sliding crane at the top for cargo or engine replacments. Sports car is lame. Nothing exciting here at all. The stand alone tow truck is really nice! Now what they should have done was include the tow truck, and sports car as one set. I would have gladly paid the price for both. Gives more playability. Quote
Hinckley Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Sorry to be the bad apple, but i'm quite disapointed in the camper. Now I know you're crazy. Just kidding. Everyone's entitled to their opinion...but wow, your opinion is so wrong. Quote
Skinny Boy Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 These look... sorta... good...? Dissappointed with the bus and camper doors though. The camper's opening mechanism reminds me of the police armored car from several years back, 2005 I think it was. Actually 2003. My best year of lego Quote
5150 Lego Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Now I know you're crazy. Just kidding. Everyone's entitled to their opinion...but wow, your opinion is so wrong. Meh! After looking at the camper again, i suppose it could be salvaged if i bought two, made it a tad longer, and added a slide out, or at minum a bed on one of the sides that fold out. So it may not be a total lose, but it will also need work! Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The stand alone tow truck is really nice! Now what they should have done was include the tow truck, and sports car as one set. I would have gladly paid the price for both. Gives more playability. $23 you can do that! Quote
Brickthing Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The city corner looks even more amazing, and I really like the look of the camper. I'll probably only get the sports car and the city corner, because those are the only sets I find relevant to my in-construction tabletown. Quote
Justin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The City Corner set I'll definitely get! It will be a great companion set to the Town Plan from Last year. I also like that camper and sports car. That emergency phone would look great on the side of the road on a LEGO road plate, in the middle of a LEGO forest. The late summer LEGO sets look very promising! Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I actually agree with 5150 Lego on not liking the camper. I am going to end up picking it up for parts, especially that sexy woman. But, I don't like the lime, and think tan would look better. Also, it is more of a playset, with only seats for the figs. I just don't like it. I also really adore the small towtruck, it's so nice and small, yet it is packed full of great details, like the pylons and the crane arm. It is also the first set ever to have car doors in orange. Pure win in my opinion. Quote
legofan Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Thanks for sharing all the wonderful pictures! I think i'll pass on the garage, as there are already quite a few garages in my town.. Too much competition and Octan will go on strike... However, the Truck featured in the Garage is a real monster! Would love to wait for the release of this set, and download the instructions from lego.com for the construction of the mini pickup which i love so much! Can build a whole fleet of them!! The City Corner is great, but also kinda pricy.. The bus does looks really good, however i believe these buses are still the greatest: These are carefully built by some AFOLs from HK and they look really good! Kudos to them! However i'm just dreaming... Anyway, i'll probably pick up the stand-alone tow truck, the sports car and the camper! Nice! Time to start changing my diet from meat and vegetables to grass from the yard... Quote
Dennimator Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Noo! Advent calendar spoiler!! Meh. I´m very dissappointed in the camper´s opening technique. It doesn´t really work well in brickfilms! HOwever, it still looks great, so I´ll probably get one and MOD it so that the roof will be openable instead. And add a better interior, of course. @legofan:Those buses look great, but they are way too big to fit in a tabletown. I don´t like the yellow bus either (I have already made 2 very nice bus MOCs ) , but it still does have an interesting design. I´ll probably buy the set, but make the bus a little longer (and change the doors ). Quote
Holodoc Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The camper's opening mechanism reminds me of the police armored car from several years back, 2005 I think it was. Yep, it´s quite the same. But the armoured car action set had 3 (three!) chrome gold tiles in it, making me buy three copies of that set (my most bought set ever). It came out 2003 by the way. Sorry to be the bad apple, but i'm quite disapointed in the camper. I agree with you. But nothing a little mocing couldn´t solve. Quote

It could have had a lot more interesting things But other than that I'll still definately get it Quote
DJ Force Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Those sets are excellent! It´s just a shame they are still somewhat classic-town style and scale. I´m tempted to buy the garage, the camper and the city corner, but they would look kinda lame next to Cafe Corner, Market Street and Green Grocer, I´m afraid. And if I bought them, I had to rebuild them in scale, meaning 6studs cars and at least 8studs trucks and bus. This year really is going to become expensive... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Thank you very much for posting the pics, Hinckley, and for the links, metalandi and phoinix! To the summer sets: 7639 Camper: From the outside the camper has an excellent design. But: Sorry to be the bad apple, but i'm quite disapointed in the camper. While the opening of the rear is trick, it seriously lacks any real detail inside. Just a couple of chairs and a cup. I understand that there limited on space, but it just seems like there could have been a bit more. I totally agree with you, 5150 Lego! The opening feature is really (please excuse me) stupid and totally childish! Why did TLG not add a roof which can be opened?! This set would have had such a big potential and - since it's even 6 stuck wide - could include such great interior. But no! What did TLG do with that?! Against my first thoughts when I saw the set without (not existing) interior I will not buy this set! 7642 Garage: I do really not understand why TLG did now reintroduce the car doors but does let them out in the cars in this set! But otherwise it's got an excellent design, very nice cars (I especially like the blue pick-up), a lot of accessory - and the office and its inside is ! But nevertheless I will not buy this set because I need my money for other sets. 7687 City Advent Calendar: Looks very interesting! I hope that not everything which was shown in the pictures we can see are all which is included in this set - but when you look at the box art you can see some more minifigs. The market stands look a bit simple in design but will surely make a great addition to our cities. So let's be surprised what other stuff there'll be included in this nice set. Will surely buy! 7638 Tow Truck: A bit big. But apart from that excellent design and a lot of accessory! Will surely buy! 8402 Sports Car: Regrettably TLG did not include some car doors - why?! Excellent design! The emergency phone box and the tree are a great addition! And the price of (supposable) 8 Euros is really ok for this lovely set! Will surely buy! 7641 City Corner:  The bicycle shop seems to be very empty and does not include a door. But apart from that the whole set contains an excellent design! Great minifigure constellation (bus driver, civilian, worker, a female cook and even a child)! The interior seems to be very nice, too, and not that empty than I feared (from what you can judge from the pics which regrettably don't show the back of the buildings). The bus looks excellent - great that TLG did not design it bigger than 6 stuck wide! Will surely buy! Klaus-Dieter Edited February 17, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
phoinix Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 we get bicycles in 2 sets if i am not wrong but why are all the bikes red? is it that hard to give us a green or even a light blue a dark blue a yellow one!! oh someone stop me!! Quote
Justin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I'm guessing the City Corner will cost $60.00 USD. Quote

No, you needn't to be stopped since you're totally right: Only red bicycles are really unrealistic (e. g. when I look around in my neighbourhood I see nearly no red bicycle, but mainly blue and black ones) and boring. I'm guessing the City Corner will cost $60.00 USD. At least the note at the Toy Fair which you can see on one pic says that. Klaus-Dieter Quote
Alywin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 With all these clearer pictures: For the camper, I agree it is disappointing. I would rather have it longer to allow more room for for realistic details. Also, the van relies heavily on sticker to paint its leisure appearance. Although being known for a time, putting the bike upstraight on the roof looks stupid and unrealistic... For the garage and the tow truck, my impression on them improves as they both contain more details than thought before. For the sport car, as expected earlier, nothing great or surprising. The price which is on the high side is one thing, but at least you got a new hair and the phone parts! For the helicopter transport, it still looks unattractive... Maybe I am always not a fan of helicopters... The city corner still looks unresistable to me. The advent calendar looks at least better than 2008... Quote
