Loganwan Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 ONE SIDE! I SAID ONE SIDE! I need my new City sets and you must get out of my way!! HAHA! I can't wait. These sets look great. It is so fun to get more regular people sets for the City line. I am really looking forward to these the most this year. Quote
jonwil Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Anyone got any better pictures of the city center set, its buildings and its minifigs? Quote
Optikal Illushun Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I am split 50/50 on these sets. i really like the city corner with the bus. the camper is , i was expecting more of a winnabego style with the van front over the 6 wide front. i will pass on that. the small tow truck is ok, but nothing i really like. the red car is swell i just wish they came in multiple colors, how many red cars (or red tractors) can one city have. the low boy with the helicopter is nice but im undecided on that. that brings me to the garage, FINALLY, a real garage. it has everything one could ask for. a real working lift, overhead crane, tire rack, work benches, etc...the price is a bit steep though. BlueBard Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Wow, I take some days of holidays without looking at the blog and it seems every new pic has appeared in this time! I think all the new sets looks great, specially the camper (well I know there's no much people thinking the same...) because I really like the design and the color scheme. I also LOVE the Classic Car (finally a lego car sold separately and a street/road phone!) the City Corner (that bus is so amazing, I can't wait to see how the interior is done) and I think the Advent Calendar for this year is very very interesting and, at least, more "christmas" than the 2008 one. Thanks so much, Hinckley! Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 There really is some great city sets this year. CRAP! The year will already be expensive because the great SW line this year as well. Starts to think that I need another job as well. The new windscreen piece of the bus looks great. -Ras- Quote
jeroend Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hello Everybody, Was just checking out all those nice sets of this year, but I think there is something strange..... 7640 is missing in the City line up. It goes from 7630 to 7639 and then from 7641 to 7643..... are we missing a release??? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Hello Everybody,Was just checking out all those nice sets of this year, but I think there is something strange..... 7640 is missing in the City line up. It goes from 7630 to 7639 and then from 7641 to 7643..... are we missing a release??? You're absolutely right, jeroend! I checked all the set numbers of the sets which we'll have to await this year but didn't find 7640 - even not on BS. So there are three possibilities: Either the set number was already used for a (City) set or this set number is for a set coming out next year (the set number sometimes aren't in the correct order when comparing them to the date of release of the sets) or there'll be another new set this year. But when you ask me I highly doubt it that TLG is going to release another new City set this year since there are already so many sets already released, we'll get totally awesome Town sets this summer and surely anamzing Wind Turbine Transport set and the great 10194 Emerald Night train. So I can't imagine that there'll be another - especially since there already was the Toy Fair and - apart from the Wind Turbine Transport - all regular City sets for this year were shown there. But who knows ... Klaus-Dieter Quote
Sammael Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 7640 is not an existing set number. My guess is that the set was planned for this year, but canceled for one reason or another. Quote
Pierre_Cochereau Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 there already was the Toy Fair and - apart from the Wind Turbine Transport - all regular City sets for this year were shown there. You're right, Klaus-Dieter, and I was wondering the same thing (why the Wind Turbine Transport wasn't shown there). But maybe it wasn't shown because supposedly it's going to be an exclusive release, and maybe there will be a special unveiling like there was for the 10193 Medieval Market Village. In any case, I can't wait for pictures of this new Wind Turbine Transport set ... Quote
Darth_Legois Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I like the smaller towtruck I think it works well City Corner or whatever its called looks really good Also I'd just like to say "Told ya so!" There's a Train Logo on the bus stop! I think in this thread awhile back I suggested the buses use the same logo but no one agreed. But the bike repair shop looks like its pretty empty....The bus looks good. The camper is . 'Nuff said. Garage looks good I like how they used that windscreen piece in trans-black now [on the blue pickup] Red sports car is really good! I love it. Quote
Hewman Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Although not a fan of the camper, as it reminds me of traumatic childhood holidays and at the risk of being labeled sexist I think it will have a fair bit of appeal to young girls. Quote

mania3 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm a 32 year old male and I'm really excited about the set. Agreed. It'll be one of the first I buy. Quote
Svelte Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm a 32 year old male that suffered many traumatic holidays in a caravan but I am not as excited about the camper as I could be, mainly as the colour scheme is kind of boring. White with a through-line of lime? Stick a Joker fig in this and it's 7888 goes on holiday. To me, the 4WD with Horse Trailer is a far better example of a classic Town-style set revamped and ramped up for the 21st century. Still, I'll definitely pick the Camper up along with most of the Summer releases. Quote
Hewman Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) I'm a 32 year old male and I'm really excited about the set. Hey I didn't want to imply it can't be appreciated by the most masculine of grown men as well as young girls! Edited February 18, 2009 by hewman Quote

I hate the colour scheme to, If I get this it'll be for the female minifig & parts...[but what the hell do I do with the lime parts? ] Quote
Sir Dano Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm a 32 year old male and I'm really excited about the set. This is the only City set I plan on buying. Look at that hair piece, how can you honestly not want this set? Quote
Er!k Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I definately want the City Corner... Finally a set to place directly in your town Also the Camper and Sports car will get a place. Quote
Asuka Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Look at that hair piece, how can you honestly not want this set? Wow... I didn´t notice that new hair piece before... it´s lovely! Thanks for pointing that out! Ah, I see... Alywin brought it up to in a previous post... seems like I overlooked that... Anyways... it´s simply great to see that TLC lays a lot more weight on the female share of the MF population these days! Quote

This hair piece (I guess you mean the woman's, don't you?) is indeed great - so does the new female torso! But you'd be ill to pay 17 Euros only for one minifig! There are much cheaper possibilities to get this great new female minifig: Ebay, brick order per S@H, ... Klaus-Dieter Quote
Darth_Legois Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) I think I'll have to get x2 City Corners, I'm thinking of combing two of them [so its parallel] and joining them accept just keeping one side open the other side wall and the bustop will still be at the end of the street. Since I think its too open and will look better if combined. Depends on the AUSD price but I think I'll have to since it looks to open.... Also I wanted 2 buses anyway.... Pierre_Cochereau Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) I think I'll have to get x2 City Corners. *Only* two, Darth_Legois? No, but seriously, I will buy two at the very, very least, but most likely more than that, seeing as I have bought multiple copies of such awesome city sets as they have been released in the past few years. Thanks to an in-store sale on 10184 Town Plan and 10185 Green Grocer (they had a whole shelf of these sets in damaged boxes), I was able to save significantly on these amazing sets, thanks to which I can now greatly expand my neighborhood. Klaus-Dieter Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Also I wanted 2 buses anyway....[/color] I totally agree with you, Darth_Legois! I'd really like to have more busses and bus stations than only one, too. So I hope that TLG will release a little set which only would include a bus, a bus station and three minifigs. But at the moment I regrettably don't see that happen (since if so people which only want the bus wouldn't my the awesome City Corner set). Klaus-Dieter Quote

I think it would be nice if LEGO would come up with another bus, perhaps a double-decker bus or an articulated bus with the same colour theme and a bus stop / bus terminal. It would make it interesting to buy since that the second bus would be a different model but in the same company... Quote
