Thank you all very much for that news and links! :sweet:

Since I was 1,5 weeks in holidays I regrettably missed everything - the most links don't work anymore and the sets list was deleted :cry_sad: - but luckily I found nevertheless pics of the City sets on BS  .

So one question: Were there some other sets mentioned than the Construction and the Farm sets?

The farm and garage are the ones that have got my interest so far. I was hoping for a post office to go with this years post van and plane sets, well there's always 2010 and with the great amount of quality sets lego are putting out it'd be pretty pathetic to complain.

I totally agree with you, hewman!

I was looking forward to get a post station next year, too - :cry_sad: - but hopefully TLG perhaps will release one in 2010 :sceptic: . And I hoped for a big hospital and more Impulse sets. :cry_sad:

But now to the sets:

Farm - absolutely amazing! After having seen the pic of the awesome 4999 Vestas Wind Power Plant I wished we'll get some Farm sets because they would go perfectly with this wind power plant - and now we'll get them! :oh:

7636

Although it's after my fancy too big I surely will buy this harvester since it's the first farming vehicle I thought of when thinking about possible farm sets - "simply amazing!

7634

I surely will buy this tractor, too, since it's simply but lovely designed!

7635

This set is nice but the trailer is in my opinion very plump and the car is very nice diesigned but much too wide - so persumably I won't buy this set. :sceptic:

7637

I surely will buy this nice farm, too, since it's really needed! The barn regrettably looks very childish, the tractor is too big and it's really a pity that they didn't include a farmhouse with a farmhouse room :cry_sad: , but it's great to see TLG included a silo, a big power mower and a stable with cows!

"City Life"

8401

Great to see a big Impulse set with all things that you need to equip your Lego City with all that is necessary that you get a perfect City: traffic signs and traffic lights, civilians and additional stuff!

Construction

7632

This crane is very well designed  - but much too big  ! So I won't buy it. :sceptic:

7633

This construction set contains everything a child can dream of - but since I'm AFOL I look a bit more closely at it: The big transport vehicle is nice, the house is very well designed  , but - although the crane is smaller than its last version - it's again too big. Since the house regrettably supposably doesn't include any interior I won't buy this set, too. :sceptic:

all the other construction sets

They are very well designed  - but much too big  . So I won't buy them.

Summary:

Next year's City sets are going to be really good!

The Construction sets are all very well designed - but regrettably much too big :cry_sad: . :sceptic:

The Farm sets are all amazing - of course some elements are too big and some are a bit childish :cry_sad: - but it's great to see TLG releasing a Farm theme!   I'm really looking forward to buy - except from the horse van - all these sets!

The additional City set is brilliant in order to get some additional stuff to add more realism to your City! I surely will buy minimum one set.

A big compliment to TLG that they are going to release these great farm sets and this addtional City stuff set! That's really the right direction they are going towards to get more civilian sets and to add more realism to our towns!

There will be more Impulse sets including a bbq. Then there would also be a 'Vestas Product' (I wonder what that would be? )

Thank you very much for this information, Dr. Brick! :sweet:

It would be great if TLG continues to release Impulse sets since firstly they aren't pricy, secondly they help you to get more minifigs and thirdly they add more realism to your City.

To the other City sets in the "speculative list":

Do you really think that there will be more City sets in 2009 than the ones we've seen until now? Because we already will get trains in the summer - so wouldn't that get a bit too many City sets?! :sceptic:

I heard that trains will be a separate theme in 2009. On the list there were also things like camper, which could be possible for the summer.

But that trains will be a seperate theme sounds very unlikely to me. And why then didn't they appear on the list?

I personally don't believe that there will be four City subthmes in 2009 - that would be too much. And next to Construction and Farm the set list seems to mention a complete third theme: Camper, City Life, Garage, Tow Truck = four sets = a whole new theme. So: :sceptic:

But of course I'd like really much to see a camper.

BTW: Does someone know/can imagine what CIty Life could be?

City Life would be the smallest set with only figures and accessories, such as traffic lights, signs, a bench and such.

Also, remember that the list is not only "speculative", but also incomplete and highly inofficial. If something doesn't appear on that list, that doesn't mean it won't be released. Trains are confirmed for 2009, on the list or not.

I thought that the set 8401 City Minifigure Collection which contains 4 minifigs and additional stuff like a traffic sign, a bench, ... is this set. But in this list City Life was mentioned seperately. So do you mean it's the same or a set very similar to this one? :sceptic:

So the new train theme possibly might not only be limited to City based train sets - there might be some things (like e. g. hopefully a Western train) which don't really fit in time and style with the City theme?

'Builder' Sets: Yawn, more... They look like better construction, but we've had so many vehicles like these, tis boring.

Horse Trailer: Awesoem looking set, nothing new but looks really cool! :cry_happy:

FARM Sets: Woohoo! Huzzah! Hooray! Whoopee! Etc... Absolute brillaince, not just because of the cattle either! These are the kind of Lego sets I've always wanted!:cry_happy::laugh:

I'm very happy with the Town Battle pack :tongue::classic:

or as TLC officially calls it, City life.

It has 3 citizens and (ofcourse :hmpf_bad: ) a police officer, but he has a head I still don't have.

Pity it has just one woman, 2 would better to equally the sex variation. I think I will buy more of this set if it's not too expensive.

I like the farm sets very much, Pity it's big set has only 2 cows (maybe a Cow Battle pack for 2010)

I took a closer look at the pics - and I now must say:

The minifigure collection is great - I'll surely buy it minimum two times. The harvester and the tractor are a bit too big - but they are so lovely designed that I'll surely buy them, too.

But with the farm my opinion changed: The included vehicles are awesome  - but the buildings are really minimalistic designed that it looks like a very young's child toy  . That's really a pity since the set elements would generally make an awesome set :cry_sad: . Consequently I won't buy this set.

To the possible Summer sets:

If the list is right then the camper and the towtruck are surely not very big sets. The only sets which then remain are the garage and the bus/vehicle/helicopter transport.

Consequently either the garage would be a big set (70-90 €) or the bus would come with a bus station. Because a helicopter transport can never be 70 € or more. Thinking about this I'm a bit sceptical about the bus/vehicle/helicopter transport set - and I would be very surprised and disappointed, too, if there is no post station. :sceptic:

He he... the first real innovation for Town since, um, decades and you won´t buy it..?

Of course, smaller bricks mean more versatility and building fun, but to me the simple design of the buildings

still works pretty well. The use of the bigger pieces makes sense (well, for the price point I guess) and don´t

disturbs the structure or overall look. At least it´ll work as a good starting point for some distinct MODing...

And yeah, Wout, animal battle packs on!:thumbup:

A Chicken Vendor? Cool, Almost as good as a Ice-Cream vendor but I guess it makes sense since were geting a Ice-Cream vendor in the advent calender. :classic:

The Chicken Seller sounds like an impulse set....

You can get my icecream stickers and kiosk idea to get an ice cream stall ;) but I also agree that a chicken seller is a very nice idea of TLG. We haven't seen any pics from that one (is it sure that it isn't Duplo?!)

Yes, in principe you're right, Asuka!

It's the first but perhaps even the last possibility to get a farm (it could take until 20 years after this one until we'll might get a new one - and with the decline of oil you don't know what there'll be in the future anyway) - so it'll be very stupid of me to not buy it. And I have been wishing a farm for several years now, too.

I think it's the best to wait for more pics - perhaps TLG will even change the one or other thing. And then I'll choose. It'll depend on which City and Star Wars OT sets there'll be released in summer. So it would be better to say:

It'll depend on several things whether I'll buy the farm or not.

But what surely would have been much better is that TLG really should have included side walls and a big gate downstairs in the barn because then the whole set would have looked much, much better!

But know not only criticism:

I must say that I'm really happy to see some female minfigs included in some of the new City sets! Big compliment to TLG! Then we'll perhaps get some kids soon, too?!

And I really like the contents of the farm set: So many nice animals: Two cows ( ), a cat and a dog. And these nice brown fences and the silo and the awesome little vehicle (Does anyone know what that shall be?) and the tractor (ok, it's too big, but very nice).
