The Cobra Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Why does such a cool set have to be a promo???
Lord Santos Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Cool and unavailable promos are a Lego trademark
Dennimator Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 This is a request from my sister; do anyone have pics of the 2009 Belville sets?
Etzel Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 This is a request from my sister; do anyone have pics of the 2009 Belville sets? Yeah, sure... Don't be ashamed Dennimator, tell us the truth about your big desire for pink bricks and doll-figures. No seriously, I'm quite surprised that no one has posted any information about the Beville sets. Sure, it's not the most popular theme here on Eurobricks but there is some interesting bricks in the sets and Sir Nadroj have shown some great examples of making use of the figures to. So if anyone got some picture, I'm interested of having a look too
whung Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) This is a request from my sister; do anyone have pics of the 2009 Belville sets? It's a good question. As I rarely hear anyone asking the news about any Belville sets in 2009. I also wondering why the is no any news of Belville coming up until this moment. Because it is a theme that usually releases in the first half of every year. And there is never discontinue in any year since it's first release in 1994. Therefore it's quite unusual in 2009. I wonder will LEGO discontinue Belville in 2009? Edited December 18, 2008 by whung
Svelte Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 According to CopMike, no new Belville in 2009. See here.
halomaster96 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 According to CopMike, no new Belville in 2009. See here. I don't think that is good because Belville is the only or one of the only LEGO theme for girls.
posades Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I don't think that is good because Belville is the only or one of the only LEGO theme for girls. They need to bring Paradisa back. I remember that theme being my sister's favorite, and I thought it was kinda cool to have pastel colored baseplates.
Sandy Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 They need to bring Paradisa back. I remember that theme being my sister's favorite, and I thought it was kinda cool to have pastel colored baseplates. I'm not so sure about this. In my opinion they should just add more elements that appeal to girls in the themes. It's rather sexist to think that girls will only play with stuff that's pink (although because I work with little children, I know that this unfortunately applies to many little girls). What I'm talking about is more female minifigs in general (and this seems to be the direction the sets are heading, too), more peaceful sets like restaurants and shops to the City theme, and more animals and vegetation and such here and there. There are other things that children - both girls and boys - can play with and build besides cars and siege weapons and gigantic mecha-robots, you know? As for the fate of Belville, I've always thought it was an ugly theme, but I guess it had it's own market. It's just that there are countless dollhouses made by countless other toy companies already, so I imagine Belville can't really compete with them. When given the choice, most girls would probably choose a Barbie or a Bratz over those ugly Belville dolls. So yeah, TLG needs to find it's own way to attract girls, because dolls and dollhouses just don't work. Little girls like to build too, just not the same stuff as most little boys. I was never interested in building cars or spaceships in my childhood (although I owned a few of them), instead I made up my own adventures with the knights, the pirates and the girl minifigs. Hmm, what was my point again? Oh yeah, they shouldn't recreate Paradisa as it's own theme again, just input those elements that were present in that theme to other themes. I think that the new Farm theme does this well, by the way, since it has elements that appeals to both boys (farming machines) and girls (taking care of animals).
Svelte Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Well Sandy, there is a *large* pink bucket planned for later in the year if that's any consolation. Seriously, the set list that was leaked a while ago (and quickly removed) had a few mysterious things like a set called 'City Life' which people are speculating are more civilian in nature. The Jan City minifig collection is possibly a precursor of this type of set. I agree though, in two years we have come leaps and bounds in terms of having female fig representation. Lego is listening. Belville has great parts you can't really find in the usual sets, so it would be a shame to see it go. Maybe it's just resting a year?

Etzel Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Pirates6299 LEGO® Pirates Advent Calendar I think most of you may get surprised of a Pirates Calender in next Chirstmas! WOW! That is fantastic news!
The Cobra Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Sure, but I hope PAC will have a better availability than 2008 Calendars did!
JimBee Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Wow, thanks for the list, whung! I'm a little dissapointed that Home One won the vote instead of Palpy's arrest, but matbe they'll still make it. I'm excited for the Republic Venator ship, hopefully it will be huge. I'm glad Endor base is confirmed, too. I wonder why no one is excited about the new Space Police theme? I mean, this could be the real revival of the space theme, since Exo-Force is licensed, and not really a "Space" theme. Mars Mission didn't really succeed in capturing that classic space vibe, either. If my predictions are correct, this could mean that we are going to have all four "evergreen" themes (Castle, Pirates, City, Space) at the same time! This would be really awesome, I think. I'm not sure of what to make of Indy, Power Miners, or Castle sets just yet, I'll have to wait for pictures. I probably won't get any City sets, as usual, and definitely not any Bionicle, Creator, etc. It seems that TLG is really going all-out this year by giving us three new themes, tons of potential sets, and lots of surprises. I haven't even gotten any first wave sets yet, so this all seems like quite a lot.
Pencoin Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Don't forget mystery girls theme. Thanks Whung for the Pirate advent calender. If there is another Castle one I might just get the pirate one for my brother.
Freddie Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Pirates6299 LEGO® Pirates Advent Calendar I think most of you may get surprised of a Pirates Calender in next Chirstmas! Not completely surprised, I've been crossing my fingers for one ever since I saw the new pirates-sets, and an advent calendar is an excellent way of advertising for a new theme.
Sir Dano Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Pirates6299 LEGO® Pirates Advent Calendar I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a mental image of a jester with a pegleg, hook and eyepatch for some reason.
CopMike Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 This is a request from my sister; do anyone have pics of the 2009 Belville sets?Nothing new for 2009 .CopMike
darkrebellion Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Well thanks Whung for such awesome news. Now I am TOTALLY excited by the SW sets. Yes it seems like after the not that great 2008 finally the TLC will give us the fans what we have asked for years . Look at all the sets, the always wanted Venator, the always wished Endor set, an Hoth set with a possible NEW taun taun . I need to admit the set that excites me the most is that Mon Cal Crusier, I was hoping for one since I start collecting and seems like it won over the Palpatine Arrest (Which I think they will made in a way or another for the next year ). Also the Pirate Tank could be the first attempt of the TLC to release a vehicle which is more of the civil SW, with this I mean that it probably will not be Republic or CIS related but more of the criminal side of the SW universe . Well after some excitement about this awesome news I need to comment in the whole list . First of, I am surprised that there are such small list of some themes like Technic which just have 2 sets . Also Creator seems to pass a year with a few sets. The City line really intriges me cause of the strange selection of the TLC, normally they choose a whole selection of sets which are of the same class. Now in this selection they have a Camper, a Garage, an Air Turbine Vehicle , this actually doesn´t make sense at all , but whatever this sounds like good sets. I enjoy to see that PM are getting more sets that can actually make justice to the theme . And why Pirates just get the advent calendar? At the end the next year looks very promising especially in SW terms . 2009 looks like the best LSW year so far . Edited December 20, 2008 by darkrebellion
Lord Santos Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The wind turbine transporter is the same one as Vestas and is almost the same as of the Vestas Shangai airport exhibition. Already seen a pic of it
Tim Bit Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Seen this yet? I don't think it looks to great myself.
hewkii9 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Oooh, I don't think we have! Although I agree with you. A dynamite catapult, while dynamite [no joke intended] for sales to the 'target audience', isn't a very good idea.
halomaster96 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 It looks like a good set but a dynamite launcher doesn't really fit in with Power Miners. But it is a good way to get the new dynamite piece.
