SirNadroj Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Thanks for the news! Sounds rather interesting! (Also sounds like my Journey to the Center of the Earth series! ) Quote
KimT Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Thanks for the news! Sounds rather interesting! (Also sounds like my Journey to the Center of the Earth series! ) Or Rock Raiders. Could this be the rumoured Space theme? Quote
tin7_creations Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 when would the prelim pics come out? Quote
KimT Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 when would the prelim pics come out? Never. That's the point in preliminary pics, sin't it? They're preliminary and not meant to be published. Now please stay on topic here. Quote
metalandi Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Miners are always good, seems to me like an improvement to the rock raiders line. I loved this theme and i can see many cool sets coming with that, can't wait for pictures! Thanks for the indo Quote
Pencoin Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 This is quite weird though, They werent on Whungs list and they weren't in the prelim catalouge. Also there is supposed to be Space policeIII coming out as well which doesnt help matters. Wait i guess . Quote
Tacitus Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Or Rock Raiders.Could this be the rumoured Space theme? That's exactly what I thought of, too. I just hope that the new version of the rock monsters will be more articulated. Quote
JimBee Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I thought of both SirNadroj's JTTCOTE series and rock raiders. This new them will surely bring me back to those days... And now the Star Wars and Indy sets are completely confirmed. Quote
Pickerel Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Perhaps this is going to be exo-force's replacement? It sounds interesting, I hope we have modern-style minifigs, as opposed to space or futuristic. And new torsos- never can have enough of those! I think it would be neat if LEGO intertwined some of the non-licensed themes together. Like agents combined with miners. Just a random idea. Quote
Trexxen Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 So THIS is the new story-driven line Greg referred to a long time ago...sweet, more Rock Raiders is always good! *waits for people to complain about it being unfaithful anyways* =P Anywho; this is some good new information - and I do recall seeing some mining stuff on Whung's list. I can't wait! =D ~Trexxen Quote
tin7_creations Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 based on the article... does this mean that there's no more batman coming out in 2009? Quote

AgentRick Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Well, it seems that this new Power miners theme is the spiritual successor to Rock Raiders. The card game portion of the new bionicle theme might become something ignored like the game in the KK2 sets . I am still stoked about the tiny turbo sets with the Fold Out roads. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 This is the best news ever! iamded will be pleased as a Rock Raiders fanatic, i am as well (pleased that is, I sadly never got Rock Raiders). So I really hope this line ends up good, I'm loving it already! Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 You think? Dunno... I dont rember this though on Whungs list, It was definatley wasn't there. You know Whung isnt a Lego Representative...I think... If Lego annouce it, then its annouced. Lego didnt annouce that list since they didnt want us posting images. Hopefully its the same as the old Rock Raiders theme, I miss it... Still got the brilliant game of it. Quote
Zarkan Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 What the hey? Where did this theme come from? Okay, this one is really unexpected for me. I'm not even quite ready to believe it yet! However, this line seems to make sense, for some reason. When I first saw all the leaked pictures, I really felt like something was missing - like there wasn't enough January themes. This line seems to fit the empty gap, and I bet that it was kept secret by TLC for some reason. Whatever the case, this sounds promising, and a new Rockraiders theme sits well with me. BTW, for those who are thinking that Space may not come this year, don't give up all hope. Remember that TLC said that there will be TWO new lines this year. One would now think that that means Pirates and Power Miners - but remember that Pirates technically isn't new at all. The last pirate themed line was less than three years ago, with the Duplo pirates. So, we still may get a new space theme next year. Quote
Darth_Legois Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Or Rock Raiders.Could this be the rumoured Space theme? Please dont be like rock raiders please dont be like rock raiders ple....ok thats enough Rock Raiders wasnt too bad... I just hope its not the new Space Theme Awaiting pics....... Quote
Tohst Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I'm going to be optimistic. The first pictures of Agents didn't look that good to me and the line turned out great. Rock raiders was a horrible <insert that tiresome argument> line (Yes, I have all the sets -sigh-). But if this new line is to Rock Raiders as Agents was to Alpha Team (which had a couple gems in an otherwise substandard line-up) then its going to be great. -Tohst Quote
Karto Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I thought TLC told they would stop making this kind of second class lines and concentrate on the major lines as 'they had learned from the mistakes from the past' (late 90s, early 2000)? It seems no to be a new space theme: Power Miners features a team of miners that dig into the Earth’s crust and encounter half-rock/half-crystal monsters. The range features collectible vehicles and mini-figures and monsters. I still think that sub-themes should fit in a major theme: - A new space theme could fit with Star Wars. - Elves, dwarfs, trolls, samurais can fit in a castle theme. - A lot of sub-themes fit into City (trains, racers, divers, even Indiana Jones...). Rock Raiders, Dino themes, Aqua themes, Alpha Team, Time Cruisers (worst of all...) etc. fit in nothing. They all had too few sets to be interesting. All these lines sell bad on eBay or Bricklink. Stores had always plenty of them and kept them a year long on the shelves until they put massive discounts... During the late 90s, TLC released many of these themes. During the same period, TLC almost got bankrupt (and I'm not even speaking about the city line which was replaced by the <insert that tiresome argument> crap...). They started the year with the Agents line and now this? strange... Quote
Scouty Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 This seems really cool and exciting! I can't wait to see more of this! Quote
Section8 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 A rehashed line instead of something completely new. If Lego wanted to make more modern stuff-meets-mutated monsters, they could have kept going with Aqua Raiders. The non-monster portions of those sets were actually plausible. Unless, of course, this is their continuation, continue the theme but give it a new setting every few years. Quote
NewRight Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I like the thought to introduce a new line. Can't wait. Quote
SWMAN Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I am not excited. This sounds like a simple revival of Rock Raiders which was not a very good theme and quickly died out. Quote
Johnny 5 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I liked Rock Raiders a lot, with it's interesting vehicles and minifigs, also it had some fantastic colors that we didn't normally get. Sadly I only caught the tail end of it and ended up with only two sets. If Power Miners is similar to that I'll definitely be looking forward to it. Also about the Space theme it may very well be retired in the major line sort of sense what with Pirates coming back. It could be that TLC will only run three "evergreen" lines at a time now, and rotate Space and Pirates. Quote
