I am sort of ticked at the lack of OT sets this year (save the rebel scout speeder and Imperial Dropship). The Original trilogy is my favourite part of the star wars line. Does anyone else feel this way? The Rebel Scout Speeder and Imperial Dropship were good but thats only 2 sets this year.

I totally agree with you, millacol88!

I'm a big Star Wars fan and I like all six episodes. But Lego SW sets I only collect OT sets because firstly I prefer episode 3-6 over episode 1-3, secondly because of lack of place to store sets and - most important - thirdly because of money reasons.

I'm really upset with this year's OT sets, too:

Firstly we OT fans only got two real OT sets (Rebel Scout Speeder and Death Star; the Imperial Dropship is an EU set since it includes s Shadow Trooper( )).

Secondly one of the most important sets for an OT fan - the Death Star  - was set up for 400 Euros - which I really can't afford.

And for next year it doesn't seem to be much better: A redesign of Vader's TIE with no new minifig but only in new colors ( :hmpf: ) and no other set in the beginning of 2009  .

Let's only hope that the rumor of a minifig scaled Tantive 4, an Endor Battle Playset, a Hoth set and a Home One playset is real! :sceptic:

Whist this is true, there is a limited numer of times they can re-release something before it gets old... That and there is not that much to produce which hasnt been done yet. But I would definatley like to see some more endor sets.

Stauder.

I totally agree with you, Stauder!

Of course it would be boring and make no sense to rerelease the same sets in very short intervals.

But it's not true - which some other people say - that the most things of OT already have been done:

We had nearly no Tatooine, Endor and Hoth sets.

Some very important vehicles like the Tantive 4 and the Home One are missing.

Some very important creatures like Tauntauns and Banthas are missing.

Some very important settings like Uncle Own Lar's Ranch, Yavin Rebel Base, Endor Bunker, and Uncle Ben's Home are missing.

Some very important minifigs like Nien Numb, the silvern 3PO, the little people which live in the Cloud City, the Ewok's chief, Endor Leia, Hoth Luke, Medical Droid, an Imperial Mark IV Sentry Droid, Endor Rebels, more commanders and officers (from both sides - Rebels and Imperials) are missing.

There were some sets in the past which weren't that good and which surely would make a great redesign like Mos Eisley Cantina, Cloud City, Jabba's Palace, Ewok Attack, Cloud Car and Hoth Rebel Base.

Lol - people are getting the Death Star (the frikin Death Star!) and they complain about not getting enough OT sets?!?

The Death Star is more bricks than an entire new line of OT sets!!!

20 odd minifigs, amazing design, tons of playability - the Death Star is the equivelent of about 10 sets!

Good point.

Also what OT sets are you guys wishing for?

I think a lot of great OT sets have already been done, and frankly I don't wish for another: x-wing, y-wing, tie, vader's tie, slave1 and so on.

There's only a fixed amount of sets they can do for OT.

DS ON!

DS kicks butt!

I would love to see endor base sets. A couple of bp's with LOTS of scout troopers and LOTS of ewoks as I missed out on them :hmpf_bad: . Also a couple of rebel soldiers. Maybe even a battle damaged R2!!! :cry_happy:

Being new i don't know if it was said before but i heard that TLG are stopping the lego starwars franchise in 2 years so they might be saving the original trilogy sets for next and have mostly clonewars this year.

They are just saving OT sets because they can make more money with sets for the newest movie (TCW) and mostly with the weekly TV show. The license is running out is right but I think that they will make another contract hopefully like Hasbro to 2018), because Star Wars sells great and besides from TCW, there is a Life-Action show. Only problem could be that this show is too PG.

I wouldn´t see it as bad, because:

1: They will make more OT sets next year (I believe in WHung :classic: ).

2: "Just OT collectors" does have enough money for the Death Star.^^

Geeez! :hmpf: Sometimes it seems to me as if the only thing you OT fans do is complain! :hmpf_bad: It might not be fair that there are more CW sets than OT ones, but CW happens to be what is "in" at the moment, so you'll have to be patient. :sadnew: Besides, you should be grateful for those two great BPs and that fantastic DS playset that you get this year! If there was a year with only a few PT sets, for example, like some BPs and, say, a Geonosis Arena Battle playset with a whole bunch of minifigs like in the DS (Anakin, Obi Wan, battle-damaged Padme, Count Dooku, Poggle the Lesser, Jango & Boba Fett, Mace Windu, R2-D2, silver C-3PO, SBDs, sand-red BDs, and a bunch of other Jedi and Geonosians, plus the three beasts, whether brick-built or not), I as a PT fan would be very pleased! :sadnew:

I agree. You should've got more sets from the OT when they were released. However, part of me understands your frustration.

EDIT: See how small your post just got there? No need to quote the post above you. Also lay-off the 3xenter and then a J.

2: "Just OT collectors" does have enough money for the Death Star.^^

I regrettably must disagree, Navy Trooper Fenson:

1. "Just OT collectors" does not mean that these people don't buy any other Lego sets (e. g. I collect many City sets, the old Western sets (regrettably there aren't any new until now :cry_sad: ) and some Castle sets, too).

2. "Just OT collectors" does not mean that these persons have more money like other people.

3. The DS costs 400 Euros - only as comparison: Last year's OT sets all together were about 345 Euros (and the Y-Wing and AT-AT were only redesigns (ok, the AT-AT included a General-Veers-fake ( )) - so nothing really new) - but these were five different sets!

I'm not complaining about the 10188 DS itself - in contrast this set is totally awesome and I really  it - but the price is too huge  . This is only a set for people who either do really only collect SW OT sets but no other Lego theme or for people who have a lot of money - and regrettably I don't count to these people so the DS is for me :vader: since I can't afford to buy it.

The General Veers fig wasn't so much a fake as it was well.....made out of fig parts we already have.

Oh, commanderbly42, I agree, just there would have to be a large price and nothing I can use.
